Have you ever been INJURED on a ride?

In 2003 I rode Honey, I Shrunk the Audience and the mice effect really scraped up the back of my legs. They didn't bleed but they were red and you could see where the "tail" hit me.

Yes. I got a brain freeze from sucking down grand marnier and grey goose slushie simultaneously.

When we were standing in line for Soarin', a man struck my 3 year neice across the face. He thought it was his own kid. Apart from our anger that he would treat his own kid that way, we were beyond furious that someone made our baby cry at WDW!

I call shenanigans on this. There is no way you (he) "accidentally" hit someone else's kid in the face. I would have pressed charges, I don't know how you were all able to just accept his explanation and go on like nothing happened. :confused3

Not a ride, but my dd and I both had trouble in the TL wave pool!
I got thrown and ripped the bottom of my foot open on the floor of the pool / that hurt for a couple of days, especially having to do all that walking on it.
But the really scary thing was dd almost drowning. She floated out on a tube to where the waves were pretty high .... I swam next to her. Her friend came along and grabbed the tube and dd went into the water. She wasn't a strong enough swimmer for those crazy waves. I was in over my head and kept trying to hoist her back onto the tube, but she kept just pulling me under .... So when I felt like I was running out of steam, I just grabbed her around the chest and started swimming to shallow water. When I could finally stand and carry her a guy looked over and asked if I was ok, lol. I said yeah! Now I am! No one even noticed we were in trouble. Be careful on that wave pool!

Wave pools are dangerous. I had a bad experience at Adventure Island (not Disney), along those lines. I'm a pretty decent swimmer and back then I could hold my breath for 3 minutes (I used to practice all the time even out of the pool). But I was 10 and didn't really have the stamina/strength to withstand a wave pool for such a long time. The waves were much higher than I was expecting- I lived by the ocean and floated in those waves all the time. I did not get to float like I thought. I was starting to tire and getting to where getting my face above water was difficult. I couldn't swim all the way back to the shallow without resting (too many people not enough progress- lots of huge tubes bumping me under). I managed to get to the side where they had railings where I got a hold of it and just took a minute to breathe.

I was there maybe 30 seconds when a lifeguard started yelling at me to get down as they were for people who were in trouble. I said that I am, that I couldn't get back to shallow and I was getting bumped under by tubes and couldn't stay up much longer. I continued getting yelled at but ignored them until I felt strong enough to get further into shallow. I managed and as soon as I did I sat down and didn't move for like 10 minutes.
I haven't been in a wave pool since- I'm nearly 35.

My mom smacked her head on the back of the boat on Splash Mountain on the huge drop. The very last row didn't have head rests when we went last October so she smacked it right on the back of the boat. She was dizzy for an hour or so when we got off and we had to sit down. She's the type of person that doesn't complain so when she felt better we just went on with our night. I did send Disney an email when we got home so they would know about the potential issue and they did call and let me know they had forwarded it to the ride manager for Splash Mountain. She is tiny, only 4 ft 11, so her head didn't come much up beyond the seat. I'm anxious to see when I go in Nov if all the rows have the head rests on them. She definitely won't ride it again though.

I came off Primeval Whirl so bruised the first time I rode it, it took me 10 years to attempt riding it again. Round 2 wasn't any better, so I won't be riding that ride again.

Believe it or not one of my most dangerous rides was the bus coming back from Magic Kingdom to Animal Kingdom Lodge. It was a long ride and standing room only and the bus was very crowded. When the bus turned I felt my right knee give out on me. I could hardly walk after getting out of the bus. I actually tore my meniscus in my right knee. I was laid up for almost 8 weeks. Now back to Normal with thankfully no surgery needed.

Not at Disney but at Universal on Jurassic Park. We closed our eyes (ds 6 and I) and didn't brace ourselves properly for the drop I guess. Ds smacked his nose off the lap bar thing (not sure what it's called.) I hit my chest really hard and felt a weird sensation. I had broken a rib before and it was in the same spot. I was ok to walk around but any sort of strain (like getting out of bed or rolling over in bed) was very painful for a good month after. I read stories afterwards of other people hurting themselves on that ride. It was about 5 years ago now and I *think* I read that they changed the ride vehicle. It was padded as I recall but it wasn't down far enough and we hit it with alot of force.

We rode it this spring and were all commenting on the weird restraints - they seemed too high and were uncomfortabe. I guess that was why!

On Oct 20, 2007, me and my husband, my 7 year old son and my brother, went to my favorite place in Florida, Epcot. We went on the"Test Track" ride and had so much fun. When we exited the ride, we had to go down a ramp, upon turning the corner of the ramp was what I later found out was VOMIT! My right foot went into a slimy substance and my foot took my body out from under me. While I was falling I put my right arm out to catch my fall, tearing 80% of my shoulder rotator cuff. I fell so hard on my back causing me to bleed internally
I immediately smelled vomit and my entire back side was covered in the most disgusting chunks of vomit! I was hurt, shocked and hysterical! My brother tried to help me up but I kept slipping back into the vomit. My husband ran for help and went back up to the employees who let us off the ride to tell them that his wife just fell in vomit and we need help! He was told that they knew about the vomit. Apparently riders before us had warned those employees that there was vomit on the ramp and that employee left his post and walked down the ramp to identify the vomit. There were ways that he could have protected the vomit by placing stantions (ropes that were available for him to use) or a garbage pail or stay at the vomit until housekeeping came to clean it up. But he did nothing to protect that area. Instead he called a tower to tell them about the vomit. He let us off the ride without even warning us or telling us to say BE CAREFUL, STAY TO THE RIGHT OR ANYTHING. Instead he let us exit the ride knowing there was a dangerous situation. At the bottom of the ramp was an employee who takes the pictures while you are on the ride. This lady was told by 3 college aged guys that they had just threw up. She went into a booth to call housekeeping but had to leave a message. When she hung up she heard me scream and immediately came to my aid. I was trying to pull myself up using the ramp. She put her arms around me telling me "I'm so sorry this never should have happened and she called housekeeping but they never came'! She felt so sorry and helped me to lean against a car that was on display by GM in the lobby. She immediately went to seek help for me and stayed with me. Two young employees came by and laughed at me and she chased them away. Passer bys were throwing baby wipes and napkins at me while I stood there hurt, embarrassed, humiliated and shocked. Paramedics arrived along with many other Disney employees. I heard one employee yell out that he wanted to see the video footage which was destroyed by Disney along with the pictures of us on the ride. I was brought change of clothing and brought to a shower via wheelchair and we were escorted out of the park right away. I went to the emergency room near my house and it was determined that my kidney was bleeding and I was given two shots and was told to go to my doctor. I had an MRI and was referred to an orthopedic surgeon and pain management. Before I had my first back surgery I went to physical therapy and tried everything before going for back surgeson, After the first back surgery, I suffered terribly in constant pain. I waited a full year but sadly found out that there was a non-fusion and only major surgery would fix it. Desperate and just wanting to not suffer in pain I opted for another major back surgery. Being in bed had taken a toll on my son seeing me bedridden and missing out on his his baseball and bowling tournaments and not being able to volunteer at his school and not attending the field trips broke my heart. My husband who has his own health problems had to do the cleaning, cooking, caring for my son and doing everything that I was always taking care of. While I lay in bed recovering from my surgeries. In the meantime we had filed a lawsuit with Disney for being negligent and causing me to have these surgeries.I started feeling a little better and gave myself another year to make sure the second surgery was a success. Slowly the pain in my lower back came back. I couldn't sit, stand, walk, bend over or do any housework or cook without my lower back stabbing, throbbing and burning I had to take meds to control the pain which was only temporary. I lived like that for 2 more years until my surgeon sent me for a flexion Xray that showed my spine was extremely unstable. Only way to fix this was to go thru another major back surgery. After that surgery as I was doing physical therapy, one of the screws in my back had broken a piece of bone pressing on my nerve. Another back surgery. Unfortunately I will need future back surgeries and I will be on pain meds for the rest of my life. After 7 years of litigation with Disney, we just finished an 8 day trial in Orlando and the jury found Disney to be 100% negligent. Yes I won my negligence case against Disney which is almost impossible to win against Disney. But during the past 7 years, my life has been forever damaged by Disney, my 2 1/5 year old granddaughter tragically DROWNED in my pool, my son has suffered from ,PTSD and the loss of his mother being active in his life, my daughter who lost her daughter has also lost her mom because I can't give her the support and given her the mother she deserves to have. Between falling in vomit that was not my fault and dealing with the attorneys that Disney hires to protect their image and their non compassion for people who visit their park and get hurt is despicable. I truly hope this never happens to anyone else but if you go to Disney hoping to have a good time, DO NOT GET HURT!!

That's awful! I am so sorry for all you have been through.

BUT . . . Perhaps you need to remove your post. Is there any part of your settlement with Disney that requires you to not talk about what happened or you will lose whatever your lawyers were able to get for you? I'm not sure you are wise to detail your experience here, I'm concerned it may jeopardize whatever you accomplished through the litigation against Disney.

Interesting first post. I wonder why the news never picked up a story about someone being THAT hurt at Disney and winning a negligence lawsuit against the company. Heck, the story about some dude losing a finger tip was EVERYWHERE for days.

I have piercings in the tops of both my ears so any ride with overhead restraints is a pain as when you get thrown around your head hits them which usually leads to a few holes in the side of my head from the back of my earrings. I will eventually remember to take them out before I get on a ride.....

Also not at Disney but at Alton Towers in the UK in 2011. I was on Rita (Queen of Speed) and the train stopped suddenly from 61mph causing my foot to slam into the front of the car I was in. All of a sudden walking hurt but I soldiered on through the day as after years of sporting injuries I get aches and pains every now and again. Went to the dr that night when I took my boot off and my foot was really swollen and turned out I'd broken 4 bones in my foot one behind the other. Dr says rest and walk on it as little as possible which was great advice only I had my university graduation the next day (for which I wore heels - although wedges) and the day after that I went to Africa to volunteer for 3 months. Took me about 8 weeks to be able to walk normally again, another 4 for the swelling to go down and another 2 after that for the bruising to completely disappear. I couldn't do somethings but still walked around all day everyday on my foot. Not sure it's forgiven me yet!

when I was little I found a big ball bearing in a popsicle that I got from Disney world. I didn't injure myself and since I was just a little kid I kept that ball bearing for a long time because it was a big one!

a while ago, in eurodisney, they had the Indiana jones roller coaster going backwards. it CLEARLY was not meant to be run backwards, and the head restraints were not padded. When running backwards, my wife and I got violently thrashed around to the point that she hit her head on the restraint and it busted her ear open.

Shortly after we left they stopped going backwards and put it back right. I'm guessing we were not the only ones to get beat up by it,

Ok, this was many many years ago and my second trip to Disney. I was 18 and with some work friends (male and female). We went on the River Country and I was on a tube when one of my male coworkers pointed out to me that my bikini top had fallen down on one side. Here I am sitting floating with one **** hanging out and it was probably one of the most embarrassing moments! I know I was more embarrassed because it was a male coworker than I was about the other thousands who I would never see again! LOL:faint:
