Which pavilion means EPCOT to you?

Not a country, but the Land Pavillion. Was a favorite before Soarin' was the big draw, when there was a fountain inside. EPCOT has changed so much since the first time I visited in 1990, but this is still my favorite.

    Lizards in the bedroom!!

Anole lizards are all over Florida and are harmless. Yes, they sometimes get into the house, when doors are open from people going in or out or from being unseen on an object left outside that is brought in. Your husband did exactly what most of us do to get rid of them--catch and release via...

    AP prices increased [6/18/2019]

Wow. We bought weekday select APs last fall because I knew the price was going up. Bought an additional pass this summer for another family member and paid $40 more than the original purchase price. The fact that they are going up again, just months later, is insane! The cost from the original...

Two Kids, Two Parents....One Hotel Room?

I guess those who can vacation in one hotel room with a family of 5 or 6 have neither light sleepers nor loud snorers in the party. We have both, which makes sleep basically impossible for everyone when there is only one room for it.

New ticket system coming to WDW - Begins October 16th

I just want to say thanks for this thread. We were considering purchasing weekday select passes, and based on comments here purchased last night unstead of waiting until closer to when we will actually go. Price increase: $30 each. Just saved $120 by purchasing yesterday instead of today--thanks!

    ride by omission

My daughter's 21, and she still remembers that I told her Big Thunder Mountain was "just a train ride" when she was 5. She rode it and liked it, as I knew she would, but she hasn't forgotten the fact that I was less than forthcoming about the nature of the ride. It's ok, we're still friends.

Is anyone going to miss the Universe of Energy?

In a word, yes. It's a classic that we've loved over the years. My husband will miss the 45 minute nap.

    I'm feeling so sad ...

This is us exactly. We had AP's in 2001, 2005, 2007, and 2011. The first three AP years were very memorable and we went often. By 2011 we found that the crowds and prices had increased while the quality and service declined. That, in addition to the implementation of fp+ and the fact that there...

    It's Back-January Trip-A-Day Contest!

It's not showing up for me in either Firefox or Safari. And I've signed up every day for a week, so it's definitely a glitch somewhere.

Question for locals that visit the parks often

Ok so I'm not exactly local--I live 2 hours away--but FP+ has negatively affected my desire to spring for AP's again, maybe ever. Since 2001 we've gotten AP's every few years, typically spending more than 20 days in the parks for each pass year. In 2015 we'd be up to do so again, based on our...

Anyone have experience with child's fear of characters?

My middle one was like this. We pretty much just made a wide berth around any character meet & greet areas. If we couldn't get out of the way I would let the handler know we didn't want to be approached. They are very good about reading kids' signals. We sometimes did watch parades anyway...

    Homeschool Chat Part III

I've found this site has great info for homeschooling high school that is not state-specific. My daughter "graduated" in May from homeschooling. She was accepted at every college she applied to with transcripts that I created, plus SAT scores. I used our state's graduation requirements as...

    Gonna have to drive it...

Well I only have three, but I have regularly driven from FL to IN in one day, often with me as the only driver. It's definitely do-able, but certainly more difficult with little ones. However, since the choice is to be in the car all day one day, or for the same long hours stretched over two...

    Help with buying a Mac

Don't be afraid to buy a refurbished model directly from Apple. The discount on refurbs usually comes out to more than the educational discount, plus you can find models that have extras (bigger HD, higher processing speed) for the same as a new base model. And a refurb is essentially a...

    Homeschool Chat Part III

Try this site: homeschool-life. Click on the "groups" link and you will get a state map. Click on your state to see a listing of homeschool groups there. Going to a certain group's site will give you more info about that group. Hope that helps!

    Holiday vs Summer

I vote holiday, because while both will be crowded, summer will be crowded AND hot. The weather is generally beautiful in December, and the decorations certainly are.

    Sensory Issues and Lines

This. We had AP's the year my middle, sensory-sensitive child was 4. He had been multiple times as a baby, but of course didn't remember it, and as a preschooler found new and unfamiliar situations very stressful. We spent a lot of time preparing him for the parks--watching videos, looking at...

Help! Looks like mostly rain during our vacation

Unless there is a hurricane in the area, even a high percent chance of rain does not mean all-day rain during a Florida late spring/summer. Just the other day we had a beautiful, hot sunny morning and early afternoon, followed by less than an hour of thunderstorms/hard rain/even hail. After...

Has anyone been to Lego Land?

Just got back from Legoland today. If you are staying on or near Disney property, be prepared for about a 40 minute drive to Legoland. I imagine there are shuttles there from someplace, likely a tour bus. LL is a nice park, but I wouldn't go out of my way to get there in your situation.

Have You Ever Gotten Tired Of Disney?

AP's in 2001, 2005, 2007, and 2011. Generally spent 20+ days in the parks for each year, except the most recent. It's ALL been there, done that, smelled those roses, this time around. Part of it is that the kids have gotten older, part of it is that there really isn't a slow season anymore...
