OMG! I am OBSESSED with DisBoards! Ahh - Support Group needed...

What a fabulous thread...i'm an addict but I don't want help, feel free to enable my habit ;)

We just had a baby girl and I can't wait to turn her into a Dis lover too!!! :cool1:

CONGRATS of your new little Mouse! I am sure she will be a Disney lover too! Lets be honest - does she really have a choice anyway? :confused3 ;) :welcome:

I've got it bad
My name is Angie and I'm an addict.
I am at work right now and yet I'm on the Dis boards. I am currently addicted to the Creativity board. Has anyone checked that out? There are wonderful people (who am I kidding, everyone here is wonderful right? :grouphug: ), they will create personalized designs that you can print onto iron on transfers for t-shirts, bags, mousekeeping envelopes, whatever really, get this - FOR FREE!
Check them out they are awesome!
Honestly, I have learned soooo much from here.

My worst symptom thus far is stealing though. I stole, uhmmm, I mean "borrowed" ;) 150 Mickey heads over a period of a month for our countdown calendars :scared1: ! My father says they're going to lock me up and throw away the key. I also used some alien green ones and wrote DIS on them which I'm going to laminate and make into a key chain thing to put on my lime green overland donner bag to carry with me on our trip in May!

I'ts good to know that there is a support group for all of us with the DIS crazies!

Wow. Its great to know that I am not the only addict out there. I can't go a day without checking out Disboards. If I am not planning my next trip, I am miserable. I daydream about Disney constantly and Disboards gets me my fix for the day. You know your addiction to Disney is bad when the kids ask if I can "please play something other than Wishes" on the way to school each morning. :rotfl: The first thing I do when I get to work and turn on my computer is to load my Disney Vacation countdown clock and check the Disboards! My co-workers just don't get the whole Disney thing at all.:confused3

I too am addicted to Dis Boards! I share this with everyone. The sad part is--I check the boards multiple times in a day!!! I found this last year before we went to disney the first time and now I'm hooked. I love the ideas I get! Party ideas, planning ideas, the whole thing! It's kinda sick but I'm so hooked!!!:goodvibes

Ohhhh! The HD mickey head paint chips. :sad2:

I read about those and thought, "Hey! I can pack up the kids after dinner, trot on over to our local, friendly establishment, and sneak a few of those out!"

I thought, subtle. Sneaky. Inconspicuous. :confused3

But when you are walking in 4 three year olds on a walking rope who exclaim at every corner, "LOOK MOMMY!!!! DOORS!!!! DADDY LIKES DOORS!!!!" you don't get to be subtle.

Then we met the plumbing aisle.

LOOK MOMMY!!!!! POTTIES!!!!! DADDY LIKES POTTIES!!!!!

I saw more than one worker laughing as we walked past after that one.

Hello, I am Lee Ann and am rapidly becoming more obsessed with Disboards. It started last spring when I was planning for our Universal/Disney trip in June 2007. We had a great time! It was definitely something I want to do again. I was down in dumps in the fall thinking I needed to avoid the Disboards because I wasn't planning a trip. Well, I'm back!:cool1: Dh and I have decided to go back in late 2009 or early 2010. We really want to go to the Harry Potter park when it opens and of course, Disney. it's not too early to start planning is it?;)

I'm glad we're not the only ones that are using Home Depot like a drug supplier! :rotfl: We actually wound up making friends with one of the ladies in our local store that works in the paint department...after telling her of my addiction she handed me a whole box of 1000 of them! Needless to say, that is more than we would ever ever use...so I gave out a bunch to some of my Dis'er friends...now I"m the local dealer! :rotfl2:

LOL, I took my DD6 with me and used the not-so-subtle "Sweetheart, what colors would you like best for your room"? using my best outside voice, even though she was standing right beside me :lmao:

Lee Ann, I keep telling myself its never too early to start planning. I'm planning for September 2010. It cost so much from here that my trips have to be well spaced. Its seems like so long away. If I didn't plan I'd go mad. I've alreaady chosed the restaurants I want to try. Oh, I've already gone mad.

I am totally obsessed with these boards now. I have gotten so many great ideas from everyone. My husband will walk in and say Are you Disneying again? LOL

:rotfl: So funny! I know what you mean - I am an addict for sure!! :goodvibes I will help feed your obsession with my so-called offricial - un-official trip report.... :surfweb: I just got back from a week at Disney yestreday (Wednesday 4/9). We were there for 7 nights/8 days and stayed at the Wilderness Lodge! We had a fabulous time and I could not have done it without all the help and insight I received from DisBoards and all my FELLOW ADDICTS!! :grouphug: While watching Fantasmic (WHICH WAS TOTALLY AMAZING!!!) my husband leaned over and said "you should do this for a living - planning Disney Trips I mean. This is amazing! You did a great job hun) ;) I thought to myself and even said it I think - "I couldnt have done it w/o the disboards!!" I learned so much from this board - when to go, what to see, when to see it, what to skip or put off til here or there. Where to eat and when to eat... Anyway - here is the long and short of our trip:

Checked in 4/1, checked out 4/8. Stayed in room 4082 at WL and was not 100% happy with our room... The room was great and but the view was not what I was hoping for view wise and the noise from Wispering Canyon was louder than expected! But I think I was the only one to really notice it - DH and the boys were all way too excited or wiped out at night to hear it all. Yes, I paid for a woodsview... got more of a Standard or parking lot view. But we were able to see some of the MK fireworks through and above the trees. I had asked to switch rooms, and we werent able to til the next afternoon. DH is a fireworks freak and was happy when he saw the firewroks from the patio that evening.... Plus we all know how much work it is to settle in for a night and then have to round everything back up and move into another. So we stayed - live and learn. I will break out for the courtyard view next time...

The Lodge was beautiful and amazing in its grandeur and theme. The pool was great, as well as the staff and ambiance. We love wispering canyon and their food - LOVE BBQ! Roaring forks was great, too, and we took full advantage of the refillable cups. I actually have mine right here infront of me from this morning... i thought as i was finning it - "i was drinking coffee out of this 3 mornings ago on the boat on our way to the MK!" :cloud9:

We did the Basic Disney Dining Plan and I have nothnig bad to say about it - we LOVED IT!!! We will do it again the next time for sure. I loved the fact that everything (ok, most everything) was paid for and there was no need to budget budget budget and price watch everything meal! Each meal easily came to just over $100 for dinner. We had a few beers or mixed drinks and only had to pay about $50 for each dinner OOP, give or take - taht was for the drinks and %20 tip. All of our servers were great, a few better than others. I am sold on the DDP and so was Dh who was the skeptic when I made the ressie and before we left...

Fantasmic was AMAZING! Wishes was as good as ever and even though it rained cats and dogs while we were at the Pirate and Princess Party, we had a blast!!! We took full advantage of the extra Magic Hours a few days and look forward to enjoying it more when the boys are older next trip to WDW. That is the way to go! Our weather was AWESOME - 85' or so most days until the rain. But that didnt hinder our trip - just made it more memorable!! We had ponchos and we kept on keeping on! DH thought i was nuts for buying ponchos and stashing them in the stroller the first few days - we didnt need them then but we would eventually. He was too cool for them at first when it started to rain, but once the rain started coming down by the gallons, he came to the realization that we were not the only ones with glorified garbage bags on! :lmao: He didnt have aproblem wearing or putting them on the next day when it rained. DS1.5 was not impressed having a poncho draped over his stroller, but he survived. :wizard: And we have some nice new Disney Ponchos for baseball season! :woohoo:

We were in great shape with our ADR's!! Had we not had those we would have been S.O.L. !!! I figured even if we had them and decided to cancel, we had that option - which we did one night, cause the kids were just wiped out. Had we done stand by dinner seating or called for ressies once we arrived at WDW, it wouldnt have been til 9 pm that we got a table!!?? :scared1:

We ate at:
California Grill at CR- we attempted thsi with with the Kids!!??!.... and they did wonderfully!! We had a great experience! The view was amazing, our server was fantastic and the food was outstanding! AND we got to watch Wishes from the roof - so cool!
Wispering Canyon at CL - always one of my favs and the kids too! Food is yummie and the kids enjoy the interaction. A nice meal for the kids to relax a bit and not feel so stuffy!
Floridian Cafe at GF- one of the best meals our whole trip! Steak was so good! Not bad Bloody Marys either! :rotfl:
Mama Melrose's at MGM - part of the Fantasmic Dinner Package. Also a wonderful meal - had the Vodka Penne - so yummie we had it last night for dinner! It was out of a jar of course, but still soooo good! Great portions!
Chef Mickey's for breakfast - always good!
Crystal Palace for lunch with Pooh and Friends - buffet was filled with delicious dishes, not an average buffet! SO good and our youngest is a huge Winnie The Pooh fan so it was only fare he got that experience!!
We also ate at Rain Forrest Cafe - not on the DDP but since Cali Grill took 2 table Service credits, it all worked out!

We had plenty of snacks and never felt slighted once using the DDP! You would be amazed what is considered a snack! I think DS8 wishes i packed "snacks" like Disney's for school - Brownie sundae's, gigantic pretcles, boxes of popcorn, jumbo sodas, frozen lemonades....

The only beef I had/have was with the transportation at WL. Its good, but not the best. Seems the only real way and "fastest" ((although it was always that fast)) way to get around was by boat. Great when the big boat came in, but you started to learn that 20 spots fill up fast on those suckers, especially when you are #22 or 23 in line! We knew going into it that there was no monorail, but being a delux we were hoping for better. There were buses to bring us to the AK, MGM, and or water parks, but it was just a lot lengthier of a process that I was anticipating. Oh well live and learn. Not sure that we will stay there agin just for that reason, maybe when the kids are olders and a stroller isnt a necesity. ((and the room was not what I was expecting, especially for what I paid but they were willing to make that right.))

All in all we had a great trip! Something we wont soon forget. It was certainly on of the busiest times we have ever experienced WDW!! Monday night while at MK it was literally wall to wall people! In all our visits, we had never seen it so packed!! You couldnt walk with out running over someone or getting run into! I saw 2 families fighting over a spot for Spectromagic, security had to be called! SO CRAZY! Its Disney World for pete sake!:wizard:

Its only been 2 days since we checked out and I am feeling Dis-drawls and cant wait to start planning again! I am going to try to talk DH into a Vaction Club, we will see who wins that battle! The Contemporary is building a new DVC tower afterall! :teacher: It only makes sence!!

I'm so glad you had a great time!!! :yay: We have 2 months and 5 days until our trip in June!!!!:rotfl: I agree I couldn't do it without you guys here on DISBoards!!!!:cheer2: I have to admit I log on as soon as I get the kids snacks fixed after school! I teach and it's a great way to unwind after a long day! My DS thinks I'm totally obsessed, but I love him anyway! My principal thinks I am too! :teacher: I always plan all of our trips down to the letter no matter where we go and I do all the packing and organizing-I am not a nice person to be around the night before we leave!:scared1: We work hard for our money and I don't want to worry about something I forgot to plan or something I forgot to pack-so I go back over my "lists" again and again and again!:dance3: If I could get away with it I would start packing, but this would send my DS over the deep end!! I have started buying little things to make goodie bags, working on t-shirts, surfing DISboards everyday, etc. :cool1:
So keep being obsessed everyone! I'm right there with you!!! It just goes to show there are still great people out there! It kinda gives me hope that the world's not going down the tiolet yet!!!:grouphug:

Take care everyone and here's some pixie dust for luck!!!pixiedust:

Welcome back Grendalyn! Sounds like you had an awesome trip! That would be very cool if you can convince DH to go for DVC. We never regretted buying in and of course it helps to feed the obsession in knowing you'll be going back year after year for sure.

Fellow addicts, don't forget to tune into the Travel Channel tonight (9pm EST) to watch the new Disney special with Samantha Brown. We're looking forward to some new Disney material to sink our teeth into. :cool1:

I miss DISNEY WORLD!! :guilty:  :sad1: :sad2:
My addiction has officially come to a head!! I am in withdrawls!! I am feeling anxious, depressed (only slightly - nothing serious really;) ) and wondering what I am going to plan next!!?? I keep talking about Disney World and how amazing our trip was! I offer the full trip details to people who havent even asked how our trip was or if we had fun - people that dont even realize we went away!!!??? :confused3

I even went on line and tried to price out our next vacation to WDW... I didnt book it, but only because they werent taking reservation for 2 1/2 YEARS AWAY yet!!!! :surfweb: :scared1: HELP!:rolleyes1

Ahhh, Hello out there???:confused3 Feeling a little ignored here!! ;) Looking for someone to feed my addiction about my addiction! :lmao: What an adddict to do with any support group!!? :wizard: :surfweb: Here I sit again - avoiding laundry and house work to chat on The Dis! Snow is melting fast (FINALLY!!!) s I really SHOULD be doing yard work too! Juthave to get my daily fix and off I will go! For few hours anyway... :goodvibes

I'm here!!!! (Do you see me flailing my arms wildly in the air?) :rotfl: I hear you about Disney withdrawl. I have been throwing myself an I miss Disney pity party lately! We have two trips planned for later this year, but somehow that doesn't help me now. The wanting to go back seems to be even worse after you come home from a recent trip. :sad1:

We finally have some great weather by us. 73 at the beach and 79 inland. I'll take it! All I know is that the sky isn't gray and cloudy anymore so that's a thrill in itself!

Yardwork? Laundry? Hmmmm...what are those? :lmao: You know your getting bad when DH says "honey I have no more shirts left...can you do some laundry?"-not slacking too much on my end, am I? :rotfl2: It's tough to stay away from the Disboards!

I've got the "sickness" too! It's going around here on the DIS. I love Disney and LOVE the DIS because everyone here is in the same boat and understands each other. I am subscribing, but I don't want help! I love that I love the Mouse!

Talk about addiction......I've been in a fantastic mood since the QVC Disney Jewelry show last week and the Samantha Brown special on friday.....those shows gave me a little Disney fix. Our next trip is December 08, so my next "fix" will be making ADR's in June....ohh, that's ONLY two months to obsess over restaurants....:rotfl2:
