OMG! I am OBSESSED with DisBoards! Ahh - Support Group needed...

Could you clearify the ending better? He claimed.... your husband called 911...you found out when that he was what? Did they send anyone out to check on him? What happened, did he walk back home?

Sorry - my mind was going 100 miles an hour when I wrote this! Ok, so DH was standing at he door with his hand on it making sure he didnt knock it down, open , whatever. He said very sternly and loudly - CALL THE POLICE. and said to the guy MY WIFE HAS CALLED THE POLICE, THEY ARE ON THEIR WAY. and the guy just tsood there! Still pleeding to come in and turning the door knob every so often!! I stayed on the phone with the 911 dispatcher until the police pulled into our driveway and put their spot light on the guy. Mind you we have had unbelievable snowfall this winter - the banks are above half way on our windows and we had an almost tunnel leading to our front door. It was lie soemthing out of a steven king novel!

In teh end the police showed up, walked hi back to his house, checked out the situation and realized it was his smoke alrms were beeping because of low batteries anpower outage. The Fire Marshall came over that same nih and checked things out as well. When the cops were leaving they clued us inon his mental state and that he was what they thought was harmless. We havent seen him at all since al of this transpired.... I check with a police officer i know here in town. I told im what happened that night and asked what he could tell me about the guy. Not so much his personal history because of confidentially and all, just more or less if I should be concerned about my kids being outside or our familys safety in general. :confused3

I think you guys did the best that you could with what little info you had.

Afterall, you were feeling quite vulnerable and dealing yourselves with unusual circumstances. The fact that you even care about whether or not you made the right decision shows you have heart.

I definitely think you did the right thing. You have no way of determining his intent or knowing his mental issues. If someone were at my door at that time of the morning, neighbor or not, I'd call the police too. Logically, nobody is going to come to your door at 1am unless there is an emergency of some sort anyway-at least that is my thinking. I wouldn't agonize over how you handled it, I think your reaction was appropriate given the circumstances.

... And we have learned a lot from the ordeal; Like that our family comes first and to trust your instincts. We havn't seen the guy next door much, which is really OK with me. But now thats behind us....:grouphug: Thank you for all of the kind words and heartfelt posts! It was a weird and akward situation, not to mentin scary, and I always know I can come to Disboards for support!! :flower3: And yes, we always lock our door now! We just came in from looking at the Lunar Eclipse and "click" locked the door right behind us!!

We are really focusing on Disney!!! About 40 days away and we are all getting VERRY EXCITED!! DS1 has discovered Winnie The Pooh and TIGGER and we are so looking forward to him seeing them in real life - we have ressies at CP - it will be s fun!! I can only imagine what his reaction will be!! DS8 loved Buzz, Woody and the whole TS Bunch as a toddler, DS5 was a HUGE Bear in the Big Blue House fan, so its exciting to see what the boys pick and pick naturally!!! And all o different, and they still get excited tothis day seeing "their" favorite characters.... soooo exciting!!! What will I do after all of this is said and done?? Thank Goodness I have the Support of The Dis to help me through the slump!! I know I will be in good company!! :)

myAAbatteries&aTD-Disneyland for Christmas sounds like it would be wonderful. Hope your able to do it! We've only done WDW for Christmas, but I bet DL is just as fun and beautiful! ;)[/quote]

What was the weather like when your family did Disney for Christmas?

We're leaning towards going in early to mid November in honor of our Diamond Anniversary. Everyone's so excited! :confused3 Still haven't decided between November and December, though.

:cool1: I love the heat and sunshine, but the other :grouphug: 5 members of our family prefer cooler wheather. I'm trying to choose a good balance for everyone, since overcast days depress me terribly.

:rotfl2: Think I need to join the support group myself. I am obsessed. Every free minute is on one of these boards. HELP!

We have considered Disney at Christmas as well! We were there atthe end of October and saw everything going up for decorations, it was amazing! However, our boys will still little and will want to be home for Santa. I think we would consider leaving Christmas Evening or the day after. I am done with the Christmas chaos and ready to skip town to avoid all the confusion and family drama!!

Glad to see others consider Disney for anniversary trips as well! DH and I celebrated our 10th wedding anniversary this year and considred taking off for a week with out the kids. But after we thought about it, we would def rather spend the money as a family and take the kids to Florida/Disney!! We will have plenty of time to be away with the kids are older, however, we will def. scoot away alone for a long weekend for sure!!

:cool1: .... I'm trying to choose a good balance for everyone, since overcast days depress me terribly.
Welcoe to NH!! I swear we havent seen much of the sun the past few weeks! DH is sso grouchy and grumpy from the lack of sunlight, its driving everyone nuts! We are all edgy and at each others throats - Cabin fever for sure. Its snowed so much this winter, we will be going to school til July!! it makes Disney and FLorida look better and better every day! :teacher:

We got our confirmation email not too long ago! Just 2 weekends until we leave for Florida and 3 weeks til we check in at WL!! I bought our P&PP Tickets on Friday!! Now I just have to go through the boys summer cloths as well as mine and START PACKING!!! :cool1: I cleaned my car top to bottom this morning so thats one more thing to cross off my list!! :goodvibes

Here is a random question: What do the letters mean after ou Hotel on the itinerary??? It says: WILDERNESS LODGE- ZLI <-- what does the "ZLI" Mean?? Just curious... I figured I would run it past my fellow Dis-freaks hoping someone would know... :confused3

How are all my fellow addicts doing out there?? :surfweb: Let me hear from you!!?? popcorn::

Nope. The only way is to plan another trip. Then it adds fuel to the fire, and you want to go back even more! It's a never-ending cycle! :scared1:

Hello fellow addicts!

We are majorly missing Disney at our house. We have the itch and I've been trying to find some cheap airfare and room rates. Found the cheap airfare, but it seems that when my kids have Spring Break in late April, the rooms are hard to come by at Disney. Ugh! I keep getting nothing but Fort Wilderness as an option for our stay and that isn't what we were hoping for in accomodations or $$$. Thought we could make this a budget friendly trip. Well...there goes that dream! LOL!

Grendalynn-looks like you have about a week until your trip! You must be soooooo excited (and busy)! Hope your family has a wonderful time visiting the mouse! :cool1:

Hi, my name is Janet and I am addicted to disboards.....planning trip in Nov.-Dec for grand gathering and including DS 11th birthday. I find so many great ideas and planning hints on this site and can't stop...

Wow, i am not alone! As soon as I started planning the NYE trip for this year, the addiction has grown!! I keep telling myslef that NYE is so busy, that I really need to plan everything and read all the posts!

I'm more of a lurker than a poster, but my work is seriously suffering (well, just going undone) because of the DISboards. We just started planning our first trip with our daughters in Jan 09. It will have been exactly 10 years since hubby and I have been to WDW (for our honeymoon at Carribean Beach) and we'll be taking along my mom to help us with the kids and give us some alone time to celebrate our anniversary. Needless to say, I want it to be perfect for the kids, and for us, so I'm trying to gather as much info and tips from all the frequent WDW DISers as possible. Just when I tell myself I HAVE TO click off, another must-read thread catches my eye. :surfweb:

Hi. My name is Shelley. I am a DISaddict.

I will forfeit my shower to lurk the boards.:surfweb:

I let my children watch a Disney movie for the uninterrupted surfing time.:3dglasses

If I can't sleep, I celebrate! That means I can surf without DH knowing exactly how long I am spending on the computer. :woohoo:

Great thread! Maybe I can have insomnia tonight to read all the posts!!!

:surfweb: :welcome: WELCOME WELCOME WELCOME all Newbies!!! The is the Support Group Thread. For all of us who bypass personal hygene, clean dishes and a tidy house to spend time on The DisBoards!! I have been an addict for about 4 years now and have loved every minute of it! :Welcome: :surfweb:

:surfweb: Lurking is the first step - the first step to addiction! Unlike rehab, our steps are backwards! :goodvibes But in the best way possible -

You are soo not alone! Hence the beginning of this thread by me - I found myself skipping daily chores and "sneaking" on the Dis at work to get my "fix"... so fun and so crazy - and I love every minute of it - DH even checks itout now at work!!

Hello fellow addicts!

Hey KMF!! We are sooo excited!! I feel like i have been ignoring the boards, but I knew if I logged in, I would not pack and I would be sooo behind!! I knew I would get hooked, so I just put on DisRadio and packed away!! We are heading out this afternoon for Florida! We are driving from NH straight through to my Inlaws and will spend a few days there - then we head to WDW a week from today!! :woohoo: :cloud9: SO EXCITED!! DSs were soo excited last night they were not going to bed at all! I told them if they didnt go to sleep morning wouldnt come and we could leave for Disney!! They were out soon after that!! Kinda like the whoel Santa thing! :wizard:

And yes - you are right - sooo busy!! As in most cases - I am in charge of packing the entire family! Thank God for my mom!! She retired last year from 25+ years of teaching and loves to iron - so when I would bring my little one over in the morning before work, I also brought piles of cloths for her to iron!! :laundy: :cheer2: AMAZING!! She offered to iron for me, and I said you dont have to say it more than once!! :confused3

:surfweb: These are the first symptoms of a Dis-addict! We support you and understand your cravings. Its very common here! I am actually at work right now, trying to get things done before we leave but have Disney on the brain! Its a sickness I tell you - a sickness!! :lmao: And I am punchy too! But for good reason!! I will check in next week while at the inlaws to get a last tips of advice and things like that. I will probably be in withdrawl in a few weeks and will look to you all for support!! I have been planning this trip for a year, and officially booked since August. :confused3 I will have a huge High to come off of and will need some support! But I know my friends here at the Dis will help me with that!! RIGHT??? :grouphug:

Take care and Happy Dis'ing everyone!!! pixiedust: :disrocks: :jumping1:

((had to take out some smiley's - too many - apparently you are only allowed to use 25??? Thats a first!! I guess I am punchier than I thought!! But in a good way!! :)))

What a fabulous thread...i'm an addict but I don't want help, feel free to enable my habit ;)

We just had a baby girl and I can't wait to turn her into a Dis lover too!!! :cool1:
