We leave to start our Vacation tomorrow at 4am.
I never thought about Canadian phones not working here. Too bad. They do come in handy and work very well in the park for keeping in touch. On the other hand, as long as you have a plan worked out with your kids that will work just fine too. I am usually one of the first ones to point out that people used to get along just fine with out cell phones but now it sounds like I have been sucked into the electronic age too.No cell phones for my kids in the US. Being Canadian their cell phones will not work in the US.
I already have another cruise booked for Jan. 30-Feb. 7
That is a good tip for anyone considering a cellphone for in the park! There are so many choices available nowadays that there is something for just about any budget. I sometimes wonder how they can make them so cheap but even the cheap ones seem to do just fine. My DS has one of the go phones so he only pays when he uses it, no monthly fees. They sell prepaid cell phones for around $30 and i think mobile to mobile minutes are free. the $30 includes the phone and minutes!
Yay for an extra day! Those are always a nice bonus! Got you updated!I added an extra day to our trip! Now we leave on Nov 23rd, I bought 4 day Park Hopper tickets at the Disney Store last weekend!
Red Lion here we come!
No worries! You can have a magical time even if the park is busy. Keep a positive outlook! If you end up waiting in a long line... make it fun. People watch, throw in some I spy and park trivia, and if all else fails just enjoy the details of the park that surround you. Try to stick to tips you are bound to have picked up around here... like get to the park early, use those fastpasses, ride during shows or parades, avoid busy eating times, etc... but especially, remember to relax and not sweat the small stuff..... you're at Disneyland!I'm so worried that it will be so busy when we go! we are going nov 12-17.
Sorry it's been a bad year for you. Maybe a Disneyland trip is just what you need! I know my DD would LOVE to meet another homeschooling young lady! Do you have any specific plans on your days? We have WOC on the 19th and some dining reservations here and there. Let me know which day works best for you for a meet up and we will see if we can't work something out. Should we tell the girls or surprise them?Homeschooling is going good, but it has been a TOUGH year. We just moved this weekend...long story! We need a vacation before getting back to the grindstone. My daughter is wondering about running into a homeschooler near her age while we are there. Maybe, we could meet up?
Seems slow now but just think of how many days have pasted since you started planning. 2 weeks will be gone in no time!I fly out of Sydney in 2 weeks today!!!! Man i feel like its going soooo slow but cant wait!
I considered doing the Thanksgiving Day in the ballroom meal but Blue Bayou won at my DS's request. I bet anywhere in the park will be wonderful! I am so excited because we have never been away from home at that time before. I would love to start a new tradition! Give me a new excuse to be in the park! Have you done Thanksgiving at DL before?I'm praying with you! We will be there all week of Thanksgiving and eating at DLH ballroom for our dinner. Maybe we will cross paths one of the days. I always have my green little mickey head attached to my pin trading lanyards.
I've been in such the disney mood lately, It's only been a few months since I was last in the park but this trip is well waited for!
You poor thing! We went through the indecision of whether we would get to take our trip also but nothing like what you are going through. I sure do hope your DH somehow manages to get his time off and you all make it for a magical trip. This not knowing if we are going to have to cancel our trip is driving me crazy. I don't know whether to make any PS, I don't know whether to plan our days (don't want to also and then be more let down). The worst of all is how much this is going to cost us if DH can't get off of work, like $1300, that's just changing our airline flight date fees, not including new price if it's higher and canceling our package, we've spent about $3000 so far and we haven't even left home. DD is so excited to go, I'm going to feel so sad for her if we don't get too. DH keeps telling me to go without him, but that'd be so sad, this is only our 2nd trip to DL and DD is now 3 and is going to be over the top filled with joy and excitement over everything. Such turmoil this is causing, I can't believe DH's boss. DH hasn't taken vacation in a year and a half so he deserves some time off. Ugg, sorry to vent, I'm so confused over what's going on.
Sounds like you know your Disney vacation stuff! I'd be lost going through a travel agent. I have always just booked everything myself. I think I have control issues! It's a bummer about your DH, but after all the money you've spent (and your DH is REALY okay with just a girl trip) I say go for it. It sounds like you've booked a package. Is the package booked in your name or his? If it is in his, call the Disney travel and have them switch the primary from him to you. You can either drop him from the package or substitue another person. You won't have to tell Disney travel about the switch, when you check into your hotel your ID is the only one they'll ask for. So, bring a friend or another family member or loose $25 to $50 (unless you got insurance).
Ribbons, LGMHs.... don't guess it matters too much as long as it's good and green!I'm running out of time, and I totally forgot to get a LGMH. Rats! I might have some ribbon, and I'll tie it on my bag.
I've got piles of stuff. Does that count as packing??? 4 more days! But who's counting?
Happy belated birthday to your DD! My DD is 10 too. Lots of families with precious little princesses here!Woot! Today is my DD's 10th birthday. That means we will be heading down there two weeks from today!
Sounds like a full schedule of great choices!Fantasmic! at 9:05pm on 11/24
Disney Thanksgiving Buffet at 12noon on 11/25
Holiday Time Tour at 12noon on 11/26
World of Color- dinner at 4:10pm at Wine Country Trattoria and 9pm show
I can't wait!
So close!!!! Your to-do-list sounds like mine! I got my hair cut for the trip but still gotta get after those gray hairs! And, I need to make another trip to stock up on dog food and cat litter. Our poor old kitty is "delicate" so she is on prescription food from the vet and they would pick a time like now to have it out of stock! If they don't get it in next week looks like we will have to make a special trip to find it in town. Don't they know I don't have time for this!!!3 days, 10 hrs and 57 minutes! woot woot!!! Got most of our packing done today, got my grey hairs touched up and bought food for the doggie babies that are staying home....starting to get excited! yay!!!
Good for you! It is nice of you to try to live up to everyone else's wishes but there are times when you have to do some things for your self! Of course, DGS deserves a special celebration. I think you did good! Our Nov trip is with the non-planners in my family so we have no plans, but I have to confess I broke down and made one dining reservation for the Birthday Celebration at Plaza Inn for our DGS. He'll turn four at the end of Nov. I'm sure my nieces, nephew and DGS will have a fun time.
Good idea! Looks like it worked out so that several on our list will be on the same tour. Can't beat that! A tour and meet all rolled into one! I loved the holiday tour but our special treat for this year is going to be the WOC package. Maybe I will get to do the tour again next time.Over on my little Holiday Tour Thread, I've decided to compile DISer reservation dates and times for the Tour. If you would like your reservation details added to the list, please join in.
Might as well get the chance to work in a little fun while at the conference! Hope you enjoy your night in the park.... and don't have to just see it from outside the gate. It's soooo much better from the inside!I'll be there Nov. 2-6 for the NAEYC conference. Staying at the Sheraton Park something or other. Going to DL one night, hopefully, with a NAEYC discounted ticket that we can supposedly buy at the conference. Also hitting DTD one night...
Not really sure what to expect, since I haven't been there since I was 14 years old, and I'm...much...older now.
From what I understand, DL is right buy our hotel. Honestly, I'll be happy just to be able to see it, if even from outside the gates!
Way to go! Squuuuueze in just one more day! I got you updated.Added another day onto our trip. I knew we wouldn't be able to leave on Saturday. So, we'll check out of GCH on Saturday and move to the CCI for the night and head back home on Sunday. I hope the Kidlet will enjoy the extra day (I know I will!) I guess I need to make more dining arrangements...
We are! We are! How about you?hope everyone is having fun making last minute plans!!
cant wait!!
You lucky duck! I have always thought one of those massages sounded heavenly! Maybe one of these days. I hope you enjoy your pampering!Well only 6 more sleeps for me!!!!
Made an appt at the spa at the GCH today for me & my friends Fire & Ice Pedicure!!! Can't wait for that cooling gel and the hot stone massage!! Booked it for 3 so we can take a break in the afternoon!!
Not much longer! Are you packed and ready to head out the door yet? So, did you get the spa booked? My disney vacation countdown says 2 days 0 hours and 31 minutes! Im so excited I can hardly breathe!
And on another not, I may schedule some sort of spa thing at DGC but I guess I better get on the ball, my trip is right around the corner!!!!
Just in case I miss ya.... Bon Voyage and have a safe and FABULOUS trip!We leave to start our Vacation tomorrow at 4am.
IWe will be staying at Desert Inn too but will miss you by a few days. We arrive on the 10th. I am so envious! I would love even a day all to myself in the park. Hope you have a fabulous solo trip! /QUOTE]
Thanks! Hope you have a wonderful trip too. Too bad we are missing each other by a few days. I would have loved to met you and yours.
This time next friday I will be at the airport waiting for my plane!! No work, no someone needing something, no worries

Mariezp we have done thanksgiving Dinner in the park for the past four-five years. We love that week. We have always eaten at BB for our TG dinner and we love the meal but this year we decided to change it up. I'm sure any place is good but we do love the original turkey dinners.
Cool, a vetran thanksgiving person!! In your opinon, what are the crowds like on the holiday, the day before, and the day after?

Glad to answer your questions! The day before Thanksgiving has been packed the last few years.....but not nearly as bad as summer vacation.
Thanksgiving we find is more crowded in the day rather than in the afternoon and evening it dies down when people go to dinner or home....ect. The day after is usually pretty empty. Last year the day of Thanksgiving we hopped on Indiana within 15 mins and pirates had no wait. The day after we got onto indiana within 20 mins and pirates was a pretty much walk on. Of course....there will always be people there and not to mention is a break time. Hopefully this year it wont be too packed! Hopes this answers some of your questions. IF you have anymore about places to eat dinner for Thanksgiving or anything else i'll be happy to answer them.
Thanks for the quick responce. I've already got our meals booked, breakfast at the Plaza on the 24th, lunch at Cafe Orleans on the 25th, and AG/WOC dinner on the 27th. We may cancel the dinner if the crowds are to crazy at the que. We have a 2 1/2 year old and not looking foward to standing for 2-3 hours fighting to keep our spots. I'll have my LGMH, if you see us say hi!!
