Thanks for the Disneyland weather link..
Praying for nice 70 degree days for Thanksgiving week! Also, no snow over the Sierra's we must cross on the drive down!

Lets all wish upon a star for wonderful weather.

It's interesting you brought up snow on the Serria's. Every year I make a movie of my family; all the trips we make, and just because video and pictures I take over the year get edited. I have family that lives in Trinity County and I get a great shot of the mountains from my Grandma's house. I laughed becasue we were just there this month and there was no snow, but there was snow durning the 4th of July on the moutain even though the temps were up in the high 90's

Hey! Trevor 57 is my teenager. I didn't realize he posted here or I would of added him. I told him to get acquainted with the Dis boards and try to meet other teens. He really is a good kid, his older sister is not going (she doesn't care for DL and is not very social with you, unless you have 4 legs) so he doesn't have anyone in his age bracket to run around with. We let him do it alone last year and he was very punctual and respectful of the freedom we gave him. I know some of you might not agree with that freedom, but I trust him, and the fact that he is 6'2 and a mixed martial artist, does give me some comfort.
Anyway, if anyone does have a teenager male or female that could use a buddy when on vacation, please feel free to contact us.
I will probably post again on another thread at a later date, but we will be at GC 11/28-12/05.

Wish we would be there for your dates but we are there near the begining of Nov. I have two teens a 16 year old boy and a 17 year old girl who will be turning 18 on Nov. 12. I have let my kids go on there own in Disney world too. Gave them a watch and told them to meet for dinner at such and such a time and they were there every time. I have 4 kids so that made it easyer. The two others are now 20 and 22. The main park they like to do this in is Epcot, and Hollywood St.

Getting down to that last month is so exciting!

I had a feeling that Trevor might be traveling with one of our November families. Glad to see that you can still coax one of your teens to make the trip to the park with you. Funny how very different siblings can be. Personally, if you trust him I think that is a good enough reason to let him have some time on his own in the park. It doesn't sound like you have to worry about his safety too much! If we were going to be there at the same time I would have offered my DS to you! I think they would have hit it off.... my son also does martial arts too. Which ones does Trevor practice? Mine does Jiu-Jitsu. Anyway, too bad we will miss each other by a few days.

Maybe our kids will run across each other. My DS and DH are usually hanging out together while DD and I do the smaller rides. Every now and then my DS wanders off on his own. These days with almost every kid having a cell phone it makes it a lot easier to keep in touch so you don't have to worry quite as much. My DH is the worrier so he checks in with our DS.... A LOT.

Me, too! I leave a week from tomorrow! I've started making a list of things I don't want to forget. Since it's just me, I want to pack really light and bring just a carry-on. I do have to pack something reasonably nice enough to wear during the day at the conference (though it will be casual work clothes, for sure). It looks like it might rain on Friday, so my raincoat will get packed. Since it has a liner and I only want to bring one jacket, the raincoat it shall be. There's a washer/dryer at the BW, so I'll probably just plan on doing some wash if I spill on myself. That's not too farfetched, knowing me.

Dang, girl! I WOULD be packing! Ahhhh, a solo trip sounds like heaven! Hope you have a good conference and enjoy your alone time in the park.... and don't have to many spills... or have to do too much laundry!

No cell phones for my kids in the US. Being Canadian their cell phones will not work in the US.

They sell prepaid cell phones for around $30 and i think mobile to mobile minutes are free. the $30 includes the phone and minutes!

Homeschooling is going good, but it has been a TOUGH year. We just moved this weekend...long story! We need a vacation before getting back to the grindstone. My daughter is wondering about running into a homeschooler near her age while we are there. Maybe, we could meet up?

I've been in such the disney mood lately, It's only been a few months since I was last in the park but this trip is well waited for!

This not knowing if we are going to have to cancel our trip is driving me crazy. I don't know whether to make any PS, I don't know whether to plan our days (don't want to also and then be more let down). The worst of all is how much this is going to cost us if DH can't get off of work, like $1300, that's just changing our airline flight date fees, not including new price if it's higher and canceling our package, we've spent about $3000 so far and we haven't even left home. DD is so excited to go, I'm going to feel so sad for her if we don't get too. DH keeps telling me to go without him, but that'd be so sad, this is only our 2nd trip to DL and DD is now 3 and is going to be over the top filled with joy and excitement over everything. Such turmoil this is causing, I can't believe DH's boss. DH hasn't taken vacation in a year and a half so he deserves some time off. Ugg, sorry to vent, I'm so confused over what's going on.
