Mickey's Halloween Party and Halloween Time Superthread 2018!!

I know but I figure I can't use it until 3 pm and am concerned the fp for Monsters After Dark will be gone for the 5:00-6:00 slot. Do you think that there's a good chance fp will still be available for that time ?

Some posters in this thread have said that they got FPs via MP on their MHP tickets right after entering DCA when the early entry party hours started. And the return time was before MHP started in DL. And don't forget that MP allows you to snag canceled FPs that other guests throw back -- so keep looking!

Someone I know works at the DL gates. She told me today that many AP holders bought tix for various DL Halloween parties and then resold them on eBay (which is a violation of Disneyland policy). But DL is wise to this ploy. When the secondary purchaser(s) arrive(s) at the gates, the determination that they didn't, in fact, make the initial ticket purchase is made quickly. The secondary ticket-holder loses his/her party ticket(s) and has to buy a new one (presuming he/she still wants to attend). More importantly, the AP-holder that sold the ticket has their AP revoked. She explained that this is common and there's a department that deals with these sorts of things exclusively. Many AP holders violate various Disney policies and have their APs either suspended or revoked altogether and it's a common occurrence. Kind of crazy what goes on behind the scenes sometimes. Fortunately, I behave myself -- as I presume we all do -- and have never had any run-ins with park security. I don't know what I'd do if I lost my AP. Going to the park is part of my weekly routine.

Does anyone have any similar stories they'd like to share?

A CM who used to work in City Hall said that several CMs cruise eBay looking for DLR and MHP tickets. When they find the tickets being resold, they do something so that the tickets show an alert at the turnstiles. Other tickets are already "dead" before being sold (e.g. counterfeit or copies of tickets that have been used already), so they don't work at the gates anyway. This is why we warn people here repeatedly not to buy tickets from unauthorized sellers -- the risk of being scammed is very high.

Can anyone confirm this ?

I am all in favor of cracking down on scalpers making money by Buying multiple tickets they don’t intend to use but what about the average joe like me

I purchased 4 tickets at regular price for this Friday’s party ($130 each ). No AP discount and no AP perks. I bought them after tickets were for sale to the general public. I received the hard tickets by mail and they don’t have any names associated with them.

My mom and sister are going to get to the park before me. They are not AP holders so they can’t get in ? They are driving down from LA and I am driving g up from San Diego.

Do they really expect all APs to be with their party at rhe gates ??

There is a big difference between tickets purchased for family and friends vs. scalped or scam tickets. Disney is fully aware of this. If your tickets were purchased from an authorized seller (e.g. Disney or a travel agent), I wouldn't expect your mother and sister to have any trouble at the gates. With valid MHP tickets, they will be able to enter either park starting at 4 pm when the early entry MHP hours begin.
In past years, we have seen people try to enter MHP with what appeared to be scam tickets. They were stopped at the turnstiles, arguments ensued, security escorted these people to the ticket booths after much explaining and re-explaining that the tickets were no good. The people had purchased their tickets on eBay or Craigslist. Other posters have reported similar scenarios. I think the worst case we saw was a family, complete with little kids all dressed up, being turned away because the parents had purchased MNSSHP tickets on eBay, thinking they had scored super cheap party tickets to DL. :(

When does Disney take down the Halloween decor?

Is the DLR park crazy busy in the hours before to party? Like 7:00am-6:00pm?

Phooey! After seeing the show last night about the decorations, I was so hoping to see them again when we go for Dapper Day! I know the HM will still have the overlay but I was ready to see those pumpkin wreaths on the light posts again, after not seeing them in several years.
That show, by the way, was sooo good!!

I think it's great that they're all over this. It's awful that people are buying up party tickets for profit then people who want to go find them sold out. But for the life of me I can't figure out how they would know which tickets to invalidate based on an Ebay listing.

There are often pictures of the tickets in the ads to prove that they are real tickets. The tickets have numbers on them.

You are allowed to gift them to somebody too.

I just assumed they wouldn't reveal ticket numbers until a sale had been made. Seems ill advised at best.

Yeah, that would be a really bad idea. Couldn't someone just add those numbers to their account and be linked to the tickets without buying them?

I went to the party on Friday, first time going and was excited to see it. Disappointed everything was canceled. No parades, no fireworks, no cadaver dans. Not sure what else they usually do because I wanted to be surprised and didn’t read too much about it beforehand. A lot of the rides were closed and we were left to mostly do treat trails, so sad :(

I'd assume that somehow a ticket has a purchaser's name attached to it. How can the gate CMs tell the difference between a 'gifted' ticket and one that has been sold?

Edit: If someone thinks answering this might give a cheater info that would enable them to cheat/sell tickets, then please don't answer.

I adore DL at Halloween... it’s our favorite time to go. We have done 5 parties over the years and this one in the rain will go down as most memorable. Now that we are home, I have a few thoughts.

I knew it would be busy. I didn’t think it would be 60 minute wait for the swinging side of the wheel of death busy. I also never thought in a million years that I would ever need a FP for small world. We usually go over a weekend, and usually in October... although we have done May and November and even early December. This was the busiest I have ever seen.

Mobile order rocks so much. Used it for corn dog castle, dole whips, and lucky fortune... heavenly.

I am trying to remember what we ate that was Halloween themed... and I don’t think we got anything! We got a caliente churro, and dole whips, and dill pickle popcorn (twice!), and Mickey ice creams, and pretzels, and corn dogs and Cheshire Cat tails, or and a bing bong unicorn slushy thing... Oh! Cotton candy! We had the Halloween colored cotton candy... yeah we snacked a lot popcorn::

Max pass still rocks, although Friday as a party day it was a bust. Knowing we had the party that night, entering the parks at 10... we only rode 4 rides, one was the swings, between 10 and 3 pm. We gave up and did turtle talk and animation academy to try and save our energy and avoid people... the party got moonsooned out... but we rode a lot of rides during it (the ones that were running) and saved the treat trails for last... we were soaked but felt it was a great night anyway. :umbrella:

CMs were great, people were great... actually saw two tearful breakups... one was two adults... he stormed off... and the other was two teens... her heart looked broken. We met some nice people in long lines... a set of twins who were 6 about melted my heart, it was also their birthday weekend!

PPH... the Halloween decor was adorbs. The elevators were so much better! I wish I could stay I would stay here again, but wow, we hit an off time I think. New computer systems meant check in took over an hour. Wake up call didn’t work, housekeeping skipped us, our room service breakfast cart, which apparently I was supposed to stick in the hall (tacky!) never was removed and stunk to the heavens by midnight. Yes, I called the desk and relayed all this, as a educational moment. We got some fast passes thrown at us... whatevs. But not magical. When I booked they asked if we were celebrating (my birthday) and what character I liked... I dunno, probably for the pictures they give out... but there was no mention. I got my own birthday button and moved on. On the plus side, my standard view room had a sideways peek of the pool, and was clean, and the beds were comfy. And I like the beachy theming.

Overall, we were sad to leave... but our feet wouldn’t have handled another day lol... 76,000 plus steps in 3 days... next trip will be for DDs sweet 16... and she wants to bring a friend. So we are looking at late Feb or early March... or I would prefer early May... for a weekend trip in 2020... so not quite a year after the Star Wars chaos ensues. And it may be the 1st time we stay off site... but I think we need a break from the Halloweentime chaos for a bit. :maleficen

The decorations will begin to come down on November 1st. It doesn't take long to remove them.

I've found that the morning hours are usually not too crowded, but the crowds build as the day progresses. The three hour overlap period is usually quite busy.

Are all the MHP tickets all sold out? You can't buy any anymore?
Unfortunately, advance ticket are all sold out (as of mid-September). There may be "day of" tickets available, but you'll have to check at the ticket booths on the day of the event. Also, sometimes there are "day of" tickets available to guests staying at one of the three on-site hotels.
