Gas prices

Anyone who is a student of history knows that since the beginning of time every empire has collapsed and things run in cycles. The US will be no different. Over the next 15 years, I expect to see a shift in economic power from the west to the east with some kind of world war taking place probably starting in 2 to 3 years. We're already in an economic war. I don't for one second think the ports in China were shut down due to covid. To people hoping for a regime change in Russia, I would say be careful what you wish for. It's an interesting time period to be alive.

Things can slow down without a recession. It’s pretty gross to want a recession that will hurt a lot of people, and hurt most those that can least afford it.
A recession would probably be the best-case scenario. Let's hope that's all that happens.

“ and even more annoying was the Aldi's guy saying that some price increases are in the register, but not yet on the store rack, so I had 7 products more expensive than I thought...”

If I reported every business that I've now paid higher prices on the receipt than were listed on the shelf, there wouldn't be a business left in business after the last 12 weeks - that's how fast store prices are rising, and they do different items each week, not all at once (probably so they can try to get most of them updated correctly)...

I mean, one glaring one was a chicken salad product that had gone from $4.09 last week to $6.09 this week at Aldi's...they hadn't caught up to the 4 pack that was still $4.29 (and equal ounces). I'm sure next week they will have...

All I said was thats it was illegal and they can be fined.

They have inspections to check for this “Dept of weights and measures”

It was a common tactic in retail past to rip
off people because they knew 90% of people would just pay it because its something they need and cannot be bothered to complain.

Our local Grocery gives you the item free if it rings up wrong, because of the stiff fines associated with incorrect pricing.

Its where the term Bait and Switch comes from.

$4.75 here in central IL. We came back from WDW a few days ago where we rented a car, it was only $20 for 8 days $4.04 Sams and 4.18-4.22 in Kissimmee, FL.

I’ve never seen that, but I do see the shelf prices go up weekly. I mainly shop at Costco, Sams and Sprouts. Sprouts has had very minimal price increases, but they’ve always been expensive.

That is pretty deep for a disney discussion forum!

Thanks,
At first I was beating around the bush trying not to get the thread closed for be political, but I guess that was confusing.

I got it....was just being facetious with my "price controls" comment....which is why I ;). I figured you were a "drill baby drill" kind of guy. It's all good.

Yeah well a lot of talk on here about recessions and economy. You can’t separate that from what’s going on geopolitically. They are interrelated. Gas prices don’t have much to with Disney either.

Sure they do, when you can’t afford to go to Disney, or eat for that matter because has more than doubled in less than 18 months

Don’t you think gas prices and supply chain issues have something to do with what’s going on in the world? You may think it’s too dark for a Disney board, but it is the reality we’re living in.

Yes, but I didn’t run it to the chat screaming you’re all going to die, and our country is going to fall…

discussing diesel fuel prices and there effect on supply chains, is no where near as gloom and doom…. Nor to mention the whole conspiracy theory aspect ….

My comment was going to include the words senile, socialist and white house ….. with some four letter words mixed in for good color, in no particular order. however, I figured that was not going to pass moderation…

and yes I own several drills 😛

It's a community board...if you follow the guidelines you can discuss whatever you want.

What conspiracy theory is that? What a possible world war is a conspiracy? Man is a warring animal. Wars have occurred throughout history. If you think everyone is going to die that is something you are conjuring up in you own mind it’s nothing I said.
Yeah Diesel fuel prices are high. Why do you think that is?

I don’t think every one is going to die, I don’t care weather not Chinese port we’re closed,
“Anyone who is a student of history knows that since the beginning of time every empire has collapsed and things run in cycles. The US will be no different.”

and I think that statement is pretty deep, way to deep, for a Disney themed chat.

and if it truly is a community board and I can discuss anything I want. Then we’ll I did!

As far as why I think diesel prices are so high, go do you home work

Stating a historical fact is too deep for a Disney board? The chinese ports being closed has a big affect on our supply chain. We get way to many of our supplies from China.
I have done my homework that’s how I form my opinions. I apologize if my opinion upsets you, but you can state why you disagree or move on.
