New MaxPass FP message?

Indy went down while we were in line on Monday (April 29) and we got a "use at any FP ride in DL" FP. (We ended up using it for Indy later that day.) We were there Sunday, April 28-Thursday, May 2 and never saw the message on Max Pass. We got FPs for the same attraction on the same day - but did receive a message that we could not get one while holding one for the same ride. (A Guardians one popped up for the same time frame we already had an existing FP for it and it wouldn't let us grab it, even though we were eligible to get another FP.)
Yeah, I think it’s always been that way- you can’t have more than 1 Fastpass for the same ride at the same time.

This seems to have a good quasi-official clarification of the tier system

This sounds actually pretty good to me! I think it is fair have tiers for the replacement FP and as long there are more than just 1-2 rides in the lower tier I like the idea!
That Multi experience FP didn’t really work for me and my family on our last trip last summer anyways...(5 breakdowns and I got a experience FS only once)... I was really annoyed reading here about getting them and using them and looked forward to it but I didn’t get them...(and I didn’t even try to book a ride when it was down) actually I am still mad about that! ( I probably should have gone to city hall and complain about it...)

But yes, I think the system described in that article sounds fair and reasonable!

One thing I noticed though...: the articles states that this new tiered replacement FO system is explained on the back of the paper FPs... I thought that with paper FPs without maxpass you wouldn’t get multi experience FPs if the ride breaks down... did that change?(or is it going to change?)

Something else about the latest version of the app: yesterday my BL FP converted to a MEP because the attraction was closed during my FP return-time window. However, it didn’t show up under “My plans” on the main screen. I had to select the triple verticals bars on the right of the screen and select “My plans” there. Kind of annoying. At first I thought it was simply lost. Hopefully this is yet another oversight that will be corrected in a later release.

I think fixing the Multiple Experience Pass/Magic Pass/Golden Pass (all the same thing) rules makes sense, but it was sure fun while it lasted! I think they also need to stop issuing FP while a ride is down. I'll gladly collect ME passes while Roger Rabbit, Goofy Sky School, or Buzz is down, but it just loads up the FP lines for other attractions.

I agree. I think it is best in the long run, but it was sure great while it lasted though!

Anyone know the Fastpass tiers for California Adventure?
For multi-experience passes? It used to be that rides obtained elsewhere weren’t good on GOTG and RSR; statistically RSR and TSMM are the most popular FPs there.

Do people not remember that they did this before with the multi-experience passes? We used to get ones from Goofy’s Sky School that you could use at any FP ride except GOTG or RSR, and over at DL, they used to have ones you couldn’t use at Space or IJ. We ended up riding Soarin’ a lot since my daughter was too short for CA Screamin’ and there was no TSMM FP and I didn’t want to get wet...

Anyway, they’ve messed with multi-experience passes quite a bit over the past few years. For a brief period in 2017, they’d accept them anywhere, even non-FP rides. Seems like they’re just tweaking the system again.

I wonder if this is what screwed up our Anytime fastpasses this weekend. We had 4 from a DVC tour and 2 from rides breaking down (Buzz and Hyperspace). When Hyperspace came back up we scanned our replacement FP in the app, but it took an Anytime pass from the DVC tour! After this happened twice we hopped to DCA and used the other two before returning to ride something with our Broken Buzz anytime.

It was my first time at DLR this weekend but when Buzz went down they specifically had a list of rides we COULDN'T go on with the anytime they gave us. I assumed I'd missed reading about DLR tiers but maybe it had something to do with this.

I didn’t realize they already did that in DCA. I think the only ride since Maxpass started that has ever broken down in DCA while I’ve been there was Incredicoaster and that was good on anything. I never go on Goofy’s Sky School, I do SR on RSR and GRR and Soarin’ and GOTG have never been down when I’ve been there, so I guess I haven’t used that many MEPs there.

You do get multiexperience FPs with paper FP, it just isn't as obvious if you don't have the app to see that.

You can use the app to prioritize which FP is about to be used, just select use FP and scan from the app, then it will use that particular FP instead of whichever the computer thinks is best.

That's exactly what I did. I selected & scanned the Hyperspace Mountain replacement at Hyperspace Mountain, but it used the DVC pass.

Strange, it shouldn't do that, you can also ask the CM which FP it used and have them change it when you first scan.

I had multiple FP (MEP and specific to the ride). I didn't want the system to take my MEP for a ride that I had a FP for. So I got concerned and was careful to select the ride specific FP; however, that is when I realized the FP in the system have all the same identical barcodes. I guessed they were different but I was wrong and this made me realize they were the same. This was back in January.

I was told the system will take any specific FP first (if you enter within the appropriate window) then after that it takes the older multi-experience FPs.

It did work correctly for the regular fastpass that we used within the one hour window (incredicoaster). I think @crvetter is right, they all have the same barcodes. It was like when you buy something BOGO - it discounts the lower priced item, or in this case used the most powerful fastpass option first. We would have gone to Town Hall, but it was our last day and about 2.5 hours before I had to leave for the airport. We sadly had planned things out so we could ride Hyperspace and then Buzz (both had reopened) and then use the DVC passes for Mission Breakout and other stuff in DCA. After it took 2 of the passes, though, we just went to DCA and skipped Hyperspace & Buzz. We came back and tried to ride them before leaving but Indiana Jones had gone down and the fastpass lines were CRAZY long. I didn't want to risk messing with traffic to LAX so I just called it a day. I wasn't sure if emailing guest services after the fact was worth the bother - I doubt I'll get to chance to return to DLR in the next few years and I don't know if they'd replace the DLR fastpasses with ones good for WDW. We had a fun time regardless, I was just bummed that my "end of trip" fastpass bonanza :woohoo: didn't work out like I'd planned. :confused3

As of right now: ALL of the FP attractions are under “only 1” except Buzz. That’s why I’m guessing they’re just testing something because it doesn’t make sense as is.

Also, they already announced they are changing to a tiered system for the magic fast passes, but they haven’t said whether that same tiering is going to apply to getting passes normally, although that certainly may be the case.

I've had family in town and have apparently missed something. What are the "magic fast passes"?

Also, I’m saying “magic pass” because I thought that’s what the any attraction/make-good FP was called. Maybe that’s not the actual name.
I believe you’re thinking of a “Multiple Experiences Pass.” When a FP becomes unusable - usually because an attraction is closed during your return time - it converts automatically into an MEP. The app explains which attractions honor them and which don’t. There are only a few that won’t. Alice in Wonderland and PP, for example. But they will work on several other attractions that don’t offer FPs. For example, I used one last Sunday for Pirates. I didn’t go straight to the front of the line but I was allowed to enter through a gate close to the doors. From there, it was only about a five-minute wait. They can be very handy.
