I love credit cards so much!

I know I'm a little more...ahem... combative than some here (what I'm saying is you're all very nice people). Has anyone tried just chewing Chase out if they call to cancel one of your Sapphire products?

I'm not saying cut off your nose to spite your face if you have a large number of Chase products you'd like to hold on to, but if I had DD recently and Chase called to cancel one of my cards, I would definitely be voicing some very loud complaints and escalating to a supervisor. I'm sure there are plenty of loopholes in their contracts so that they can dip out on giving you bonuses, but I'd making a racket about entering into an agreement with them about expecting to receive a certain bonus with them for spending on this card and that I've been doing exactly that/they're the ones who approved me for this card/not my problem that they now think they've made a mistake. I'm just wondering if anyone here or on r/churning has really tested the limits yet of pushing back against Chase, though I definitely understand people not wanting to lose the URs they have. I'd probably be transferring all my URs to DH while on the phone with them, and then tell them to close every single credit card I have open with them :rotfl2:

I don’t want to risk my 60K I currently have from the CSR. I also plan on opening a CIP so I don’t want to go off and do something that ultimately will only hurt me in the

All these shutdown reports are nuts. I wonder if anyone had screenshots of the terms and conditions of the Chase web pages before the DD loop closed? You previously were entitled to the bonus if you'd never had the card within 24 (48) months. If you help up your end of the deal, you got the points. I think Gary Leff from VFTW always keeps a cache of changes to credit card term changes. I'll investigate if I have time. Just seems wild to be shut off like this.

Totally understand in a situation like that. I'd be curious to see if anyone from r/churning who's ready to jump ship on 5/24 or has a P2 has done this. Though I know that's probably a small demographic as most people start with DD or do it as their 2nd and 3rd Chase cards.

Shocked also at the going after people to actually close an account. Why not just put a stop to the DD and cut their losses? It was their loophole that they left open. People will find it and use it. Move on. This going after people is ridiculous.

I agree with you, but a shocking number of people have been tolerant of Chase shutdowns. That's even worse than this. At least here they're only closing one account. But that shutdown garbage - apparently instead of doing what every other issuer does - deny the new card - it's okay for Chase to just burn all the accounts.

If you can't tell, I don't have a super high opinion of Chase, and they clearly don't care about us either. As much as this stinks especially for people that had already been approved/met spend, why keep gnashing teeth? They are quickly becoming not worth the hassle.

I just might be a DP at some point soon, not on the DD but on opening past 5/24 and being a shutdown risk. I'm at 21/24 and I want the Hyatt card. I really don't care if Chase shuts me down because I don't use any of their cards. But I do have one more unrestricted IHG free night coming next year and I'd hate to lose that.

I agree that closing cards that had already been approved (and used) is pretty low. I also thought that about AmEx rescinding the $100 Staples offer if it was used twice. It seems pretty extreme to penalize the card user for mistakes that the company's system allowed and approved. Sorry for anyone who gets caught by this -- it does seem very different from just changing the rules on a prospective basis.

Did anybody email themselves a referral for the CSR or CSP cards prior to the 48 month language going into effect?? If so - check and see if your EMAIL link still contains 24 month language.

Please report back - for those that were planning to hit a Sapphire card soon and now the 48 month rule is holding them back, this could be a workaround!!! Now...the double dip is certainly dead, but still might be worth trying for 1 Sapphire this way.

I typically don't email referral links to myself so I can't prove this myself but have seen DPs of it working so far.

Its still working for me with no fees. I just made a $100 payment to Chase. First I enter my gift cards into Masterpass. Then I use Chrome in incognito mode to open Plastiq and pull my cards in from Masterpass.

Edited to add . . . sent checks - not electronic payments.

Yes, it just worked for me too. Same steps as you. It was a check to the HOA, not electronic payment.

OK guys, potential mistake. It seems Chase lowered the CL on this card from 30k to 1k and he transactions were declined because I am over the CL. Since I am only an AU (and DH is busy at work) I can’t call but I sent a SM to get CL transferred from SW card to the CSP. Unfortunately it takes 24 hours for a response...I will keep you posted.

I have a somewhat different Chase issue this morning. I had planned to refer one of my kids for the Freedom. But now the Freedom does not have a referral bonus. However, the Freedom Unlimited does. Would it be risky to PC my Freedom to the Unlimited, have kid apply for the Unlimited, and then (in a few weeks or even months) PC both to the Freedom?

Honda actually doesn't have an electronic relationship with Plastiq unfortunately. They've had to send physical checks :(

I was able to make a payment as late as 10pm last night, so it seems like the change to physical checks happened overnight. I was able to make a fee-free payment to PNC just now, though. PNC is an electronic recipient.

Hoping it's just a glitch...but seems unlikely.

Wouldn't you know that I posted at 10:25. Just missed it ... yet again!

Thanks for the info!

2 DPs this morning that Plastiq Masterpass check payments are back to no fee: https://www.reddit.com/r/churning/comments/9fh11u/comment/e5wrgxq?st=JM0RLQZ7&sh=90b07565

Wow...that's MUCH better! Good Luck!

I’m going to try this morning at Best Buy (along with the Swagbucks code) and I didn’t get the email.
I double dipped CSR/CSP in late August, so thinking I should try and meet that spend sooner rather than later.

Please report back! If it works for you at 5x then I'll go this weekend.

Definitely interested in whether you get the bonus 5x as well. I did not receive emails for any of my cards, and I have all of the cards that were targeted with emails. After hearing that it is a public offer, I plan to hit BB on Monday to buy a $200 Disney gc and pair with the Swagbucks offer. Figure I'll use my CFU to get 6.5x UR out of the transaction.

I was planning on slowing down - this chase craziness just confirmed my plan.

At the moment we have all the points we need to pay for our 2019 vacations. Don't know what our vacation will be in 2020 - and with this game changing every week it's time to slow down and focus. DH is at 3/24 and I'm at 4/24.

It's the first part of the clause they are using: "The product is not available to either (i) current cardmembers of any Sapphire credit card..."
Once you were approved for the first card, technically you are a current card member of a Sapphire card. In practice the loophole existed because the system didn't realize it was a Sapphire card until the next day (or some such), hence why people had to be approved on the same date. If the 2nd card went pending and was processed sometime after this system lag, then it was automatically denied due to clause (i).

Thus I can see them calling up people who haven't gotten their cards yet, Chase can claim it's a goof and they're closing it down as it shouldn't have been sent in the first place, our bad. But going back and doing it after you've started to use the card... that's just bad form (IMO). But it was a loophole so it gets hard to argue.

After lamenting my bad luck at Chase pulling the DD just a few days before I was in a position to take advantage of it - my perspective has certainly changed this morning. I would have been seriously upset if I had applied, put a ton of spend on the card and then had Chase close it. Instead I notionally have $4000 freed up to put toward an MSR on another card - time to start looking for the positives.

I genuinely feel for anyone caught up in this mess - whether you have already had Chase close an account or are dealing with the uncertainty of being a recent applicant and not knowing if Chase is coming for you. I have no real problem in Chase closing the loophole, but think that going after selective customers retrospectively just ain't right.

Yes, I did send myself an email link, and it now reads 48 months. I know it was 24 month language before because I was saving it for future referrals.

I was just coming to do that today..... so here goes-DH and I both around 825 score- only listing pertinent cc's within last couple of years opened-
ME (CK total open 14) *** DH (CK total open 13)
11/5/16-SWA+ ****** 4/30/16-Amex Hh-(AU)
1/10/17-CSR ****** 12/1/16-CSP (PC'd -FU 1/18)
2/1/17-SWA prem. ****** 2/1/17-SWA Prem.(AU)
5/26/17-Hh Amex ****** 5/26/17-Amex Hh (AU)
7/10/17-Chase IHG ****** 7/10/17-Chase IHG (AU)
8/12/17-Amex BCP (AU) ****** 8/12/17-Amex BCP
1/3/18-Barclay Jetblue
2/5/18-PC'd CSP-FU
2/8/18-SPG biz
3/2/18-Discover IT
5/23/18-Hh Biz
So as noted- I want to get/refer DH for the SWA CP plan in Dec/Jan- But I need to get rid of some of those (stupid) Au on his report to get going here. Also considering another Hh amex for me since the offers are so high right now.... that plus upgrading one of my SPG cards to the Luxes(assume I can pc back to a reg card later on?) and keeping my CSR.
***ETA*** b/c the format looked awful after posting lol and to say my goals are SWA points for domestic travel(lots of fam travel) plus hotel points for free nights.Disney is in my future- (swolphin or Hilton LBV) I currently have about 70k SWA and need MORE. about 140k UR and always want more. have a Hilton booking +about 210k points left. Maybe 120k Starriott left. ALWAYS asking and needing next step advice, even thru the uncertainty of changing churning rules.:goodvibes

You clearly need to get moving on getting the AU'ers removed! Do it asap so you will have time for them to drop off his CR before you get ready to apply for the SW cards. Once you do that, it looks like DH will drop to 2/24 and you do not need to wait until after 12/1 to apply for the SW biz. It would seem you should be fine to apply during the flight.

Maybe someone else can take a look and advise as well. I have a cold (sounds like lots of us here do!) so my head is fuzzy!
