I love credit cards so much!

@DisneyMandC (since I mentioned waiting to see what Q4 would bring), and others with the Freedom card - Q4 bonus categories are:

Wholesale clubs
Department stores
ChasePay
Looking like I’ll be buying more GCs on Walmart.com since we don’t shop at wholesale clubs or routinely at department stores. (And thank goodness, we don’t have a Dilliard’s around here because I could have gone crazy with shoes that the one in the Virginia Beach area.)

I'm back with another dumb question! And I just want to say thanks to everyone who helped with my first dumb question :). So I was approved for the CSP card! In regards to the rewards points, I know I'll get 50,000 bonus points for meeting the $4,000 spend requirement. Do I also get points for all those purchases as well? Like say I buy $4,000 worth of plane tickets. Will I get points for that purchase plus the 50,000 bonus points? Or just 50,000 bonus points?
This may be answered already but YES you get the 4,000 base points too! Congrats on your CSP :) Also if you plan to continue to pursue cards, please consider signing up for our reddit group DISchurners. You could support a fellow DISer when you signup for a card!

I love your positivity in these situations! Always the voice of reason. :worship::goodvibes
What I am saying and how I am feeling right now are 2 different things sadly. :( I'm typing and saying positive things in an attempt to trick myself into believing it. I know this will sound stupid, but I'm literally getting a sick feeling in my stomach reading about the way Chase is pursuing people on this. I feel bad, it's just...I can't describe it. Sorry for anybody going through this!

In light of all the negative Chase news, want to share some positive, again on the Amex front. Starting to sound like an Amex advocate even though I'm still preserving my 4/24 status

100K MR from the Biz Plat just posted, literally 2 days after meeting the MSR. But now, I'm conflicted as to what I want to do :ssst:

How do I want to distribute my MR stash? How many MRs do I want to hoard for international travel down the road relative to what I want to cash out now...? :teacher:

All these recent posts about rethinking cash vs. points has me wondering where I draw the line in the sand in terms of balance...

Just got the call from Chase saying they’re closing one of our Sapphire accounts. $400 from meeting the MSR face palm

ouch, if this is true... @SouthFayetteFan needs to know... :\

No I lie it wAs the end of August. So fingers crossed the July Appliers are in the clear

Another horrible thought crossed my mind. Will this count against his 5/24 Count? Because it was an open card that then got closed in the last 24 months

Well now I’m pissed.

Oh no... did you ask them if they would remove it from your credit report?

Before I started this hobby I applied for the Southwest card with my student income but the rep added an extra 0 so I got approved. Chase realized their mistake and closed my account before I even activated their card. This counted towards my 5/24, but I called chase and disputed it and explained the situation and they removed the card. Hopefully you have the same luck with getting it removed.
I'm so sorry @Sarah_B - lots of good advice here. I REALLY hope you get this figured out. Wow I am super bummed to see one of our own going through this when you were so close to the MSR.

Well, after reading all the posts about Chase shutdowns I have been frantically trying to meet my MSR on my CSP.
I double dipped on 9/1/2018 and met the minimum on the CSR already.

I paid off a cruise, put 200 in my kids’ lunch accounts, then when I was trying to pay my auto insurance my card was declined. Pretty sure I have been shut down too

We only left 1200 in it, the $300 bonus money makes up the rest. If that makes a difference :p

It's $300 min balance to keep savings fee free, and $1500 (or the DD's) to keep the checking. So after the bonuses posted into the accounts we just moved out everything over that, so technically only $1300 of the original money is sitting there between both accounts. Since the bonus posts quickly for the checking and you have the grace period, you should be able to just move over $1200 to up the balance before the grace period expires.

Didn't think about that! Good idea. I'll transfer the $25 from Fidelity account and then send the $1200 from Ally once the bonus posts.

Honda actually doesn't have an electronic relationship with Plastiq unfortunately. They've had to send physical checks :(

I was able to make a payment as late as 10pm last night, so it seems like the change to physical checks happened overnight. I was able to make a fee-free payment to PNC just now, though. PNC is an electronic recipient.

Hoping it's just a glitch...but seems unlikely.

Wouldn't you know that I posted at 10:25. Just missed it ... yet again!

Thanks for the info!

Congrats on your 100K posting! I can only share what has evolved for me...I started out with a goal of 165,001 MRs so I could get Amex back $0.0006--which is what they charge per transferred mile to an American based airline up to $99-or 165,000 miles (for me, natch, Delta is the receipient). Then...I sort of got into MRs for a while and after September's MRs post in Oct, I'll have about 630,000. How that happened in a year, who knows (okay, well, we all know around here!). I'm now looking to redeem them with at once in a lifetime type trip to Australia/NZ in 2021.

Of course, that could change in a heartbeat if I needed MRs to transfer immediately to Delta for some reason, or if a health issue popped up, or other "life" things. I guess that's why URs/MRs/TYPs are so valuable, because their use can change with your needs/situation.

TL;DR-congrats on having a nice new stash of flexible rewards :)

You booked on UA right? My understanding is don’t bother. You can’t book Swiss first with UA miles. https://www.google.com/amp/s/thepointsguy.com/guide/search-star-alliance-availability/amp/ You can book Lufthansa first but only at 2 weeks from departure.

Well, that's good to know. And it will actually save me from myself, lol. We are already in Business for our Swiss flights from SFO to JNB (through Zurich). I would have been tempted by First, but it will be much better to save those UR/United miles for Japan flights the following summer. And now I can stop stalking United for availability...

Shocked also at the going after people to actually close an account. Why not just put a stop to the DD and cut their losses? It was their loophole that they left open. People will find it and use it. Move on. This going after people is ridiculous.

Sorry! And without even a call??

We typically fly JetBlue and I want to apply for their JetBlue Plus card (annual fee, but the free checked bag and anniversary points would make up for it for me). Any advice on how picky they are for acceptance for the higher card versus their standard card? Would I need a 750+ credit score? I have no previous banking relationship or card with Barclays.

Thanks,

I know I'm a little more...ahem... combative than some here (what I'm saying is you're all very nice people). Has anyone tried just chewing Chase out if they call to cancel one of your Sapphire products?

I'm not saying cut off your nose to spite your face if you have a large number of Chase products you'd like to hold on to, but if I had DD recently and Chase called to cancel one of my cards, I would definitely be voicing some very loud complaints and escalating to a supervisor. I'm sure there are plenty of loopholes in their contracts so that they can dip out on giving you bonuses, but I'd making a racket about entering into an agreement with them about expecting to receive a certain bonus with them for spending on this card and that I've been doing exactly that/they're the ones who approved me for this card/not my problem that they now think they've made a mistake. I'm just wondering if anyone here or on r/churning has really tested the limits yet of pushing back against Chase, though I definitely understand people not wanting to lose the URs they have. I'd probably be transferring all my URs to DH while on the phone with them, and then tell them to close every single credit card I have open with them :rotfl2:
