Disney's POP CENTURY RESORT Information & Questions

Is it still possible to walk around Hourglass Lake, and over the bridge to AOA? I’m just wondering if that area is off limits because of skyline construction.
Yes, it is still possible to walk across the bridge. There is a construction wall up that runs down the centre of the length of the bridge but you can walk across the bridge just fine.

They finally posted pictures of the new rooms on Disney's website. I wonder how many Disney first timers were surprised with a pull down bed and queen bed rather than two double beds:confused3

I'm not sure how often I'd use this but I will say I'd be much more likely to walk out of my resort room without remembering to put on my MB as opposed to walking out without my phone. Can see it being handy in a case like that!

It will also give international visitors the opportunity to go directly to their room without visiting the front desk first if they don't have their MagicBands yet.

Looking for personal experiences of people at Pop this week and in the days to come.

New, temporary bus stops have been opened at Disney's Hollywood Studios and as seems to be the norm, Pop's stop is the furthest away. We are bus stop number 1 in the picture below. Entrance to the park is the green line that goes up and to the right between stops 12 and 13. The left picture below gives a better idea of where the now closed bus loop was.

Is there anyone who is currently at the park who is willing to time their walk from park entrance to the Pop load zone? I've heard it could be a 20 minute walk which seems FAR but, I'm also not there to time it for myself. I have a couple of families visiting next week and going to ask them to time their walk but wondered if anyone who has walked this (small marathon) route could share their actual experiences with us. Thanks!

I am worried about that myself. Such a crazy detour for Pop. Why do they always put Pop, with the most amount of guests, at the furthest stop???? We may just take the rental to HS.

I'll be at HS Wednesday 8/22 for sure, possibly sooner. I'll try to remember to time it and also check the distance on my fitbit :)

Any idea when the refurb will be complete and the buses moved back?

Thanks! I'm hoping 20 minutes is an exaggeration but the fact that Disney has installed a 'cooling bus' (per the article) for people to step into and rest has me thinking this estimation may not be far off.

The buses will not be going back to the former loop. It is now permanently closed.

In the future they will move to the right a little in the pictures above to the area that is currently marked as 'closed.' A new, permanent bus loop is being created there that will have canopies above it.

Another thing worth noting is that the current, temporary bus loop is uncovered so waiting will be in the sun/rain, etc. until the new loop is ready.

Since the rooms are now carpetless at Pop, any more noisy?
That will really depend on the people around you. I would say that I heard no more noise than I did in the past but others have found them to be more noisy.

Sorry, not very helpful but seems to be what people are reporting.

We did not have a connecting door so I’m sure that helped but in our 2 rooms for a 15 night stay on first floor we weren’t bothered by noise at all except one day someone bounced a ball in the room above us. That wasn’t bothersome but we heard it. We never heard footsteps or anything above or beside us.

I don't see how the 20 minute time at the new DHS Bus Stop CAN"T be "inflated".

I don't think it is a huge distance further than the longest walk from the Epcot Bus Stops to the Epcot Turnstiles.

I hope you’re right! Just going by the article do hoping people share actual experiences here.

The pic in the article also gives a bit of a visual as to the distance from the loop to the Tower of Terror. Now, if I could only remember what the Tower looked like from the old bus stop....

There's a whole thread on the strategies forum on that topic.

Was at HS today. Walk to the Pop HS bus stop is atleast a good 20 minutes. Even worse- a large amount of people waited 30 minutes in the high afternoon heat before a Pop bus came- and only then because someone in the line had the sense to call and complain (not sure who he called). I never saw a "cooling bus" and the few umbrellas did not help- it was hot!
