A "Common object" you don't have in your home

Considering the way Mrs. Homie and I guzzle coffee, you'd be surprised to know that we don't have a coffee pot. We're Keurig people.

We don't have a TV (or a DVR, or anything like that). We have computers and can watch shows on those.

We don't have an electric can opener or a doorbell either.

I thought of another thing I don't have -- a linen closet! I didn't notice its absence until after we'd bought the house and were moving in, and I was walking around with a stack of towels saying, "Where's the linen closet?" (Maybe this is why I reuse my towels; no storage space for more.) Man, you don't realize how convenient a linen closet is until it's gone. Whenever we get around to building our next house, it's going to have the world's biggest linen closet to make up for these past 15 years of doing without.

After reading all of these responses I honestly cannot think of one thing we do not have that's been mentioned here. And I'm not bragging at all, just stating the facts. It helps that my best friend is a Tupperware/Pampered Chef consultant...so I usually get all my gadgets and toys 1/2 half from her. I have a daughter who is an only child and an only grandchild, so you can imagine that she has every "i" thing ever needed under the sun- all purchased by her grandparents.

I didn't realize food processors were all that common until seeing them listed here; I've never used one.

As is typical in Germany, we have no built in closests, just wardrobes you put wherever you want and lose room space for. I hate it at first, but now I LOVE it. If you don't have closests, you collect a lot less clutter :rotfl:

no potato masher (I am not even sure I know what this is, but people keep referring to them)

At first I couldn't think of anything "common" that we don't have...

But then I thought of a few:

a broom
an I-pad
a landline
a tea kettle
a toaster oven

And, now that we have a Keurig, we no longer have a coffee pot.

We also don't have any towel bars - in the kids' bathroom, we use hooks, &, in our bathroom, we use the bar on the shower door.

2 Thanksgivings ago, I realized I didn't have a nice gravy ladle, so I now have a silver gravy ladle that matches our silverware.

We don't have a dryer - I hang my clothes to dry.

We don't have a dishwasher, either.

And no linen closet, I just keep my linens on shelves in the laundry room.

I do have a potato masher, though! :thumbsup2

no dishwasher or blender or ironing board tho I just bought one of those little boards you can set on a table

I can't think of anything common we don't have. I have two spoon rests, a potato masher (I don't mash potatoes with it though, I just do those with a fork, I use it to mash avocados for guac), microwave, toaster, etc. Our crock pot lid broke so while we have a crock pot we can't use it without the lid. I have multiple ice cream scoops, I love me some ice cream. One year I was so embarrassed when the family came over to Thanksgiving because I didn't have a gravy boat, I now have 5. I don't have curtains but do have shades and plantation shutters. We have a fireplace but no fireplace tools but it has gas logs so don't need any. My mama was a gadget junkie so she bought everything she could find, she passed the gene on to me. We even have two Blu Ray players and a regular DVD player and never watch DVDs, we own over 300 just never watch them.

Ironing Board
Spoon rest (are they really that popular?)

And for the opposite- we own a corkscrew, wine glasses, and coffee maker but they're only for when company comes over. We have no use for them.

We don't have a linen closet either. There was one when we moved in, but we had to sacrifice it to enlarge the kitchen. I bought an armoir for the guest room that has all our "linen closet" stuff in it.

I have almost everything else mentioned in this thread. We don't have an electric can opener.

I use a Keurig every day, but I still have a Bunn coffee maker for when a larger group of guests comes over.

Also still have, and also rarely used: food processor, blender, stand mixer. They were my mother's, and they're all from the 1970's or 80's.

I didn't want her pasta maker, waffle iron, or a dozen other small electric appliances.

I don't have a toaster oven (but I do have a regular toaster!)

I recently donated the potato masher that someone must have given me because I never used it.

I don't have a rice cooker, and I didn't know what an "Insta Pot" was until I just looked it up.

But I have 5 (yes...5) ice cream scoops, and my spoon rest is shaped like Mickey Mouse:

th

(I got it at Walmart, and it's meant to be a soapdish.)
