Have you ever been INJURED on a ride?

Hi all! DH and I were talking about this the other day. Have you ever been injured on a ride? He got scraped up pretty good on PotC a couple years back. He was wearing a tshirt and shorts, and we were in the back row. At the end of the drop, the boat hit the side wall and we were jostled side to side WAY more than we had ever been before. DH's shirt had come up in the back a little bit from sitting, and the fairly violent jostling caused his back to get scratched by the back of the seat. The following day he had a large bruise across his lower back and spine, and marks that looked like he had been rubbed with sandpaper. It was so bad that he couldn't wear the back pack around the park for the rest of the trip. Now, we have been conditioned to lean forward on that drop (or any boat drop... Maelstrom, Splash, Kali...) and brace ourselves for the back and forth jostling, just in case.

I haven't really been HURT... other than scratch marks on the back of my legs from Captain EO (the kind of whipping thing), and a small bruise on my back from the ITTBAB stinger thing. Just wondering about any of you?

I was talking about this exact same jostling on POTC on another board, a week or two ago. In our case (also in the back row) my son & I kept getting our knees slammed into the back of the seats in front of us. This was just last October & the side jostle happened every single time we rode it. We weren't badly injured, but it was enough to be sore & bruised by the end of the trip.

YES! That happened to us, too! I always have bruised knees at the end of my WDW trips, whether it's from PotC, BTMRR, SM, or Dino.....

Never wear earrings on RRC. I had a lovely hole in the side of my head after the first ride. On our last trip we were taking the train ride at Rafikis Planet when right after we sat down on the train I saw a young boy slamming the doors shut as he walked with his parents down the length of the train. A cast member yelled at them to please not touch the doors, and the parents just laughed at him. Of course the very next door ( in the car next to ours) the father walked in to take a seat and the little boy grabbed the door and slammed it shut right on his hand! It made me sick to see and it was totally the parents fault. It seemed to take forever to get the door open to release his hand and he was screaming the whole time. The mother was screaming at the cast members and not being very helpful, but they got the door open and carried him off ( I assume to first aid). I wanted to wring the mothers neck .

My son was bitten by a water moccasin at the Caribbean Beach Resort back in 2009. Spent the first 3 days of our vacation in the ICU. :scared1:

This brought back not so nice memories from a past trip. We often stay at the BWV and walk to HS because it is quicker than taking the boat. The walkway is alongside the canal that the boats use. In the grass, I thought I saw a branch sticking up from the ground. As we got closer, it turned out the "branch" was actually a good size black snake. Needless to say, we got out of that area very quickly and quietly.

In the wavepool at Typhoon Lagoon. DS fell from the wave and some lady fell on top of him. He scrapped up his knee pretty bad but he made it through ok. I think he was about 8 yrs at the time.

I had the same thing happen to me -- she basically rode me from the middle of the pool to the edge, and i scratched up my belly...

On the topic of jostling, when those logs stop just before the loading area at the end of the Splash Mountain ride, I sit forward in the seat so that my back isn't resting against the back of the seat. When the logs behind bump into the ones in front as the hit the line waiting to disembark I find that if my back is leaning against the backrest it hurts my spine. It doesn't fall into the injury category, but it's uncomfortable to say the least.

Every time i ride Dinosaur i hurt my hip -- i hate the ride personally, but the kids love it -- to me its just a dark loud physically abusive 2.5 minutes.

Other than banging my head on a concrete wall by accident, I'm all good ;)

I've gotten bruises from the water parks, but that's about it! I bruise pretty easily.

WHAT?!?!?

Holy Cow!! Bless his heart!! That's like a freakin' nightmare!

It was a nightmare, but thankfully the little guy is great and now almost as tall as me.

I have posted this story before, but someone suggested I repost it. If this story will help prevent anyone from going through what we did, then it is worth reposting.

Last May 2009, my son was bitten by a water moccasin at CBR. He dropped a toy at the edge of the sidewalk into some landscaping and bent down to pick it up, his feet never leaving the sidewalk. A snake bit him three times on the finger. He spent three days in intensive care and received 12 vials of anitvenin. Thankfully he is fine, all fingers still intact.

Just be aware of your surroundings, keep out of the landscaping, and you should be fine.

This is where the accident occured. The snake was curled up under a bush next to the light pole.

This is my son in Celebration Hospital's ER. He was transferred to Florida Chidren's Hospital

The day he was released from the hospital. Check out the swelling in his hand.

I saw 2 water moccasin in the lake the day we moved to another resort.

I've gone to Disney quite often but theres only been 4 times I was injured in anyway. No where near some of the stories post, I never knew snake bites were a problem I am so glad your son was okay!

1. Walked out my hotel room at Pop Century in the morning and went straight down and bruised up my knee bad. Rain plus powerwash plus morning dew equals pain.

2. Honey I shrunk the Kid ride has a portion where the seats drop to make it feel you are falling off something, my legs didn't reach the ground so i had them partially under the seat and when the drop occured i wrenched my hips.

3. Stitch's Great Escape V1, when stitch leaps on your shoulders and your not expecting it do NOT reflexively try to leap out of the seat.

4. And the one I find the oddest, the day after MNSSHP where it was in the mid 80s/90s and i was dressed up in two layers of clothing scarf and gloves with no conseqences, while walking Magic Kingdom in a tank and shorts I got heat exhaustion to the point where i almost had to go to the first aid cause couldn't focus on anything.

I remember reading this story after our first family trip a few years ago and I always remind my son to stay away from the bushes now. Just wanted to thank you for sharing as I always remember it. Glad the little guy is fine.

I woke up "injured" after riding "the great food and wine" ride at EPCOT the night before. Does that count! :)

Not at one of the parks but getting off the bus from typhoon lagoon to our resort GF the bus driver closed the back door on my 5 yr old grandsons arm. I was carrying him since he had fallen asleep and while stepping out the back door of the bus the door simply shut and mushed his arm ... To make things worse the driver got all rude with us and said he didn't close it? But clearly he had and my grandson was screaming and his arm red and then a dark bruise for about 10 days. The hotel manager was very kind with an ice pack and offer to take him to the urgent care ect. The director of transportation called to get all the details ect and also was very apologetic ... They did compensate us but of course I wish it never happened

OMG I get injured on that EVERYTIME. Clearly I am not a fast learner. I'm just thankful the healing process starts around 11am :thumbsup2

I got a nasty cut when I was 8 on the 2nd tallest slide at BB (whatever that one's called). Ruined my day cause I didn't even want to go on it in the first place!

Then in 2009 my dad and his friend (2 very large men) went down crush n gusher, ended up flipping over, and my dad scratched up his arm pretty good. The lifeguards were on him like seagulls on bread cause he was bleeding in the water.

Last year we were on the Maelstrom, waiting to leave the station. We moved up a little then stopped for mechanical difficulties. A few minutes later they closed the ride. DH and I were in the front row and we had to climb over all the seats to get off the boat because the last row was the only one still near the loading area.

DH was behind me and I was doing fine stepping over the seats by myself, even though I'm short. :). But for some reason he thought I needed help so he grabbed my hand, I lost my balance and did a face plant right there. The upper half of me was on the loading spot and the lower half was still in the boat. The CMs came over to help me, as did DH. I was OK, but my shins and knees were bruised. It was in December, so luckily I was wearing jeans. But there were a lot of people still in the area, trying to make their way out of the line. Of course everyone stopped and stared when I fell. My ego was bruised way more than my legs. And my DH felt so bad, he was sucking up to me big time after that. :rotfl:

It's something that my DH would really rather forget, but my kids keep bringing it up. "Remember the time when you pushed Mom on the boat and she fell?" :lmao:

Last year during Christmas I had assault of the killer granny who was allowing her two year old grandson to drive her ECV. I was knocked into the rose bushes near the castle. She laughed and kept going. One of the CMs was wonderful and helped me over to first aid and helped fill out the paperwork. Having thorns removed from my hand and my cheek was so not a fun experience. Particularly when all I had wanted was a picture of the roses.

I slipped and fell at Typhoon Lagoon. As I was walking along a path, I slipped on some wet leaves (I was barefoot). My foot shot out from under me, and I started falling. I did catch myself on one hand, but my hip hit the ground very hard. And of course, I was embarrassed as all get-out! I scraped up my hand a little, and felt like I pulled a muscle just a bit, but that's it. From then on, I was more careful about where I was stepping!
