i'm going to get some oreo double stuffed cookies and cold milk.... because i simply don't think my jeans are tight enough..they need to be just a weeeeeeee bit more uncomfortable.:snooty:

:rotfl:

The other good news is that I got my free cruise certificate and just booked Mom and I on the December 5th 7-day cruise. I upgraded to a verandah and the only negative is that our cabin is at the back of the ship--but I looked online and it looks huge (because it's a handicapped cabin)! So it's all good!

If it's the VERY back, overlooking the wake the ship will leave, that's generally highly coveted in cruising circles. Well, at least, on RCCL it is. Maybe it's different for DCL. But you will probably want to make sure you have taken measures against seasickness, b/c the very front (where our cabin was for our honeymoon and I was, like, a week pregnant and already nauseated anyway) and the very back do move a bit more than the middle. Get your seabands, find out if the ship has free bonine and if you can deal with normal bonine, and so on. Then sit back relax, and enjoy the expansive view as you see where you've just been!

Oh, and get a really big suitcase b/c I'm stowing away with you!!!!!:upsidedow

Woo hoo! All great news, Cheryl! A verandah cabin on the back of the ship would be the VERY best place for me. That way you can see both sides instead of just one. Are you doing East or West?

It's the Eastern Caribbean cruise.

Molly--I will check with our doc before we go about what kind of nausea meds she can take--she takes so many things we have to be very careful.

Just talked to my Mom--she was sitting up in a chair having breakfast! She had just walked around the bed !!!!!!!! (with a physical therapist of course!)

I'm so glad your mom's doing good!!
My mom has never broken her hip but has gone thru 3 hip replacement surguries. I'm always amazed how quick they get them up and moving!

Are you on the Magic or the Wonder?
We had 7636 on the Magic for the 15 night Panama Canal trip last summer. It was fabulous! Plenty of room for a wheelchair to get around. The bathroom is fully accessible too. The verandah is huge and has a table & chairs. We had 20+ people on it while going thru the canal. We did have an issue with flooding and from what we heard this is an ongoing problem when it rains alot, because it can't drain off the verandah fast enough.
We had no issues with sea sickness being at the end of the ship. It is at the end of the ship, but the hallway to the elevators is not far at all. My kids favorite was slipping up the back stairs for breakfast or snacks at Topsiders :)

Yes, everyone is just paying me for the lanyards when I pass them out at the Pizza Party!

I can't remember if I PMed you or not but I just need the name card. I won't be getting in until Friday evening but I will pay you then. Thanks!

Ok gals! Great news! The Mickey headbands arrived! I actually ended up ordering all they had--which was 26. This was the last complete list I had of who wanted one:

Mickey Tiara

Cheryl
Heather
Wendy
Tina (3)
Callie (2)
January
Theresa
Capri
Michelle
Amy
Linda (2)
Steph
Debra
Amy

If for some reason you don't want one now, not a problem. If you do, the price with shipping ended up being $4 each. They're really cute. I'll bring them to the pizza party.

Cheryl, are there any extras? I'd like to buy one off of you if there are.

And now.. on that note..

i'm going to get some oreo double stuffed cookies and cold milk.... because i simply don't think my jeans are tight enough..they need to be just a weeeeeeee bit more uncomfortable.:snooty:

Mmm, Oreos sound good.

ATTENTION TO THOSE STAYING SUNDAY NIGHT!!

The ent. rate just became available for the night of the 8th. So CALL Lorealle to make sure you get it!

Heather and Stacie, I was just able to get you the ent. rate for that night already! :)

We're on the Magic--it looks to be about the same size as your cabin, just a bit different configuration.

Cheryl, are there any extras? I'd like to buy one off of you if there are.

Yes, I have extras!

Cheryl--

YEAH! I'm so glad you got that cruise. For all the hassle you've had to go through, in the end you did get a couple awesome incentives and VGC points, so hopefully it's all worth it!

I just went on the Eastern, so if you have any questions on ports, let me know. Also, I have a couple of travel books (one on St Thomas and Virgin Islands and another with details on St Martin) that I could bring down to loan you.

I have never stayed in Cat 6, or in the back of the ship, but I think I know the area you are talking about. After dinner the kids clubs went to this hidden deck at the aft of Deck 7 - when there were just a few kids - for just a little time. This back deck was a jewel of a place. Just serene with the ocean view all to yourself. I think those handicap rooms are right off this, and the very back rooms seemed to share some of that back of the ship view. I think you probably have a GREAT room.

For sea sickness, I always take Bonine and it does the trick. My DH and kids take nothing and don't seem at all bothered (DH was in the navy for 7 years).

Oh, I'm so excited for you! What a wonderful vacation for your Mom to recover to get ready for!

More travel thoughts for Cheryl. Be sure to check out cruisecritic's articles and forum! The DCL people seem really nice (unlike the snarky RCCL people like me) over there, and you can get loads of info from the cruiseline's forum AND the destination forums for where you're going. :)

I'm having the pre-trip blues also. I've been seriously considering canceling the whole thing. One day I had my mind all made up that I wasn't going to go. Financially, this is the stupidest thing I can be doing right now, but I need to take this trip for myself, so I'm not letting anything get in my way...not even reality. :rolleyes1 I'm just trusting that things will work out.

Anywho, I'm almost completely satisfied with the way the Scavenger Hunt list is, it's still not the way I was hoping it would look, but nothing ever is.

Wendy, you and I are two peas in a pod. We are in the very same boat. Us poor college kids need to stick together.

I was wondering why I didn't see you on the scavenger hunt list, you're putting it together!

Put me down for the tiara whatever cheryl if u have enough. And whoever is doing lanyards if there are extras I would like to buy one please. At disney now

Tracy I am so sorry about your friend but it sounds like you have a taker for your room and the VIP tour so that is great!! :)

See things always seem to work out! :)

It's getting close. I know I am SWAMPED this week. I am finally meeting my new primary care doc today so I am anxious to meet her and hope that I like her and then I have ANOTHER apt right after with my other doc. Then tomorrow is the only day I have to work this week so it is going to be crazy and then yet ANOTHER doc apt on Wed. I have to get some blood drawn on Thurs morning before we leave for the airport. My doc wants me to get my blood drawn every week for several weeks and the medicine I am on makes my blood really thin and when I went in last Friday she stuck the needle in and it shot across the room LOL. Problem is I have this giant hematoma on my arm so now I think they will have to take it out of my left arm on Thursday and I have no good veins in that arm. BLEH. I am going to look like I drug addict when I come down. Ok no judging LOL! I seriously am NOT a junkie! ;)

Anyway then Shane has to go have a conference with Katy's teacher that same time on Thursday. I am a bit nervous because they only need second conferences if things aren't going well and Katy is really upset. She is my emotional one and she is SOOO upset by this. I am hoping it is not too bad. Shelby didn't need one. So we shall see I guess. Then after he gets back he is taking mom and I too the airport. So on one hand it is good that I have a ton of stuff to do before I leave cuz I won't have time to think about anything and I will be too busy but on the other hand I still wish it was Thursday all ready! :)

Anyway off to my apts soon. Hope everyone has a good day! :)
Hope you have a good day too!

Hi everyone. I only skimmed back. I did see some things that appear to need updating but I simply can't right now. I'm sorry. Someone fill me in later if I ever rejoin the land of the living.

I don't think I'm meant to go on this trip. :sad1:

I have been up since 2 a.m. throwing up and going to the bathroom. I feel horrible. Weak, dizzy, sick, and my stomach is killing me. I do not know what happened. I went to bed fine. :confused3
It's taking all my strength just to type this out. I actually weighed myself this morning (morbid curiousity) and found over night I've lost 4 pounds. That's how bad it's been. I can't possibly have anything left in me.

So anyway, I don't know what hit me so I don't know when it will leave. :guilty: Obviously I cannot go anywhere in this condition. And the cherry on top? Our Paypal account, which is connected to our bank account, was hacked into. We lost $200. Not a lot in the scheme of things, but that takes a huge chunk out of my already pitiful trip budget. :sad2:

Well, now that I've depressed the heck out of everyone, I am going to crawl back to bed and hope for sweet, sweet sleep.

Later. And again, I'm sorry I couldn't read back. Maybe someone can compile a list of what I need to update on the front page and I will try to do that later. Thanks!!
Oh no Beth! This simply is not allowed!
Please get better soon!

It's not good that you got sick, Beth but because you got sick it's good that it happened early this morning. That gives you 3 whole days to get 100% better.

Pixie dust is alright but prayers are better! Praying that you get better very soon and that your family DOESN'T get sick. :goodvibes
::yes::

Does anyone know the amounts for these things? I'm getting organized today. I saved the money part for last or I would spend it:rotfl:

landyard........$
VIP tour tip....$
WIWF our tip .$

Can anyone think of anything else? :confused3
I was wondering if they even allow tips. I don't think so. :confused3

Yay for the Tiara's coming in - thanks Cheryl! And congrats on getting that cruise booked, I'm calling in mine tomorrow. Then just have to hope for great airfare.:thumbsup2

As far as the tip for WIWF, honestly we are not expected to tip. And the CM will refuse it (3) times and if we insist, will then take it. Those were the rules when DD was a plaid - they are really discouraged from taking tips. I have gone on many tours at DL and WDW and never tipped or saw anyone else do it. Now the VIP tour is a little different. They are allowed to take tips, but I think $40 for the entire group is plenty. Any more than that is quite generous. I think last year for our group we each pitched in $2 so the tip was $20, and we had a fabulous guide (JD). He tried to refuse it, but Lesley insisted several times and he took it. Anyway, that's my two cents, you guys can decide for yourselves.:)

Oh, and I'm not wearing red either, I am wearing pink. But I fear we will all be wearing jackets, hoodies or sweatshirts anyway as the weather forecast is cloudy and low 60's. I refuse to acknowlegde the "R" word. It's just not gonna happen!

:lmao: :rotfl:

I don't really like oreo's but I LOVE fresh baked choc chip ones!! yummo!!

Wendy, you and I are two peas in a pod. We are in the very same boat. Us poor college kids need to stick together.

No, kidding! I just paid tuition, baseball x2, bought a new CF3 baseball bat & 1 glove (still need 1 more).

Beth I hope you start feeling better soon.

Hey Stacie,
Don't know if it would work, but I made one for my friend Terri, and she's not going, so I have an extra. It is a size medium, lycra blend 3/4 length sleeve, slight V neck, and the tink turned out okay too. Just let me know and it is yours.

Thank you for the offer. But a medium would look worst than the Martini shirt on me. I am just gonna deal with my funky looking Tink.

Beth - I had the same thing last week. A day or two and I was fine. Rest.

Wendy,

You had better not ditch me girl!!!

:rolleyes1

On a lighter note, I can't wait to see what you have put together for the hunt.

Love your Auntie Mel and roomie!

UGH!! The "R" word is all I have had for 2 DAYS!!!

I am really, really, REALLY hoping for better weather!!

Stacie,
This is off topic, but I have kind of read about a little baby girl who is very sick? Is she a newborn?

Anyways, my prayers go out to her and her family.

Now i'm confused.

I was told the tips should be $15 to $20 per person.

Now Melody says no tip and Linda says $20 or $40 for the entire group?

i'm confuzzled.:confused3
