Sorry I have been missing for so long, but so much has been going on, just trying to keep up with the 10/24/09 thread is about all I can handle most days. :lmao:

I can't even remember what pics I posted last, but here are pics from Angelina's graduation night 6-17 and at her grad party on 6-28.

We will be arriving at WDW on 8-31 and will be staying at OKW (first trip back HOME) until 9-5. Angelina starts her massage therapy school on her 18th birthday 9-15.

We are all doing well, in fact, I have even started working out each morning for about 45 minutes before going to work, then on the weekends I spend about 90 minutes working out. Angelina joins me during the weekday workouts, but she refuses to go with me on the weekends.....

It's so hard to believe that you guys only have a month before your PC cruise. I know y'all are going to have a MAGICal time and I can't wait to hear all about it!!! :thumbsup2

Love the pictures Andy. Hey you may even bump into some of the cruisers at WDW.

Only 400.....not enough!!!:lmao: :lmao:

Glad you spared me Mike!!:lmao:

Just wanted to say thanks to all of you making John's and my special day more perfect!!!:thumbsup2 :thumbsup2

DD took us to Zoo with DGD and DGS. My DSIL then drove past where we first met.....went to high school together...house where I grew up......house where John grew up.....and then to the church where we got married!!!:dance3: : :cloud9:
The end to a special day.

Just like Cheryl said, "Thanks to everyone for their best wishes." We are looking forward to meeting you. 5 more Mondays counting today.

John

It's been a couple of years for me. In my experience it's worse flying out than arriving. But I overall find it no worse than any of the major airports (JFK, ORD, MCO, SFO, etc.).

Of course, I still remember the pre-Olympics LAX airport, when it was all one level and you'd have to allow an hour or two just to deal with the airport traffic - it's infinitely better than it was back then.

The smaller airports (John Wayne, Long Beach) are easier I think, but I'll tend to take the one with the lower overall cost.

Hmm... Does anyone know where DCL flies into? They are doing our flights - I hope the bring us into John Wayne.....

Probably LAX - as it is closer to the port then John Wayne (SNA)

5 Mondays until TOAL.

How fun!

OK who else wants that bathroom??? I don't Disney decorate my house, aside from a collection of photos on a book shelf - one from each year & 2 prints in the upstairs hallway, but I have always wanted to have a Mickey bathroom.

No such luck yet. The joys of moving - I have to decorate around the colors of the fixtures that are there when we move in. I this house, the boys have the world's ugliest bathroom. Fixtures are assorted shades of 1960's green - seafoam, lime, avacado. Yes, all in the same room. The only thing to do was embrace the ugly! We added a lava lamp, black shag bathmat, disco ball & space theme accessories!

I was looking at the sink and tiles in the bathroom and thinking "I wonder if I can find all those things" and "I wonder if the girls would let me do that to their bathroom". I personally would love the master bathroom in the pictures.
I know I have seen the Mickey/Minnie sink for sale somewhere but I have not seen the tiles.
Right now the girls bathroom is upscale/understated Princess but I dread the day they tell me they want it changed.

OMG can someone tell me why?

Oh someone please tell me WHY they make suitcases like this?

I noticed when Ruby went to church camp- one of the other suitcases (usually used for camp cause it's big) the plastic inside was breaking into bits. A piece broke off last year but this year it was breaking into lots of pieces.

I just went to get our DISNEY suitcases out of the back of the closet and when I was taking one out it felt like the plastic in the back was just desintegrating at the slightest touch. Sure enough I opened them and undid the zipper inside and revealed all the plastic in there (that makes it a hard suitcase instead of a soft one!) is just broke into bits and I could take pieces and just break it in my hands as if it was .. Oh I don't know- like I don't know how to describe it but it broke easily.

What causes this and why does this happen? sigh... we'll have to use them that way because we can't afford to buy more luggage at this point. :(

Shelley, I buy my luggage when disneyshopping puts it on clearance really cheap. Luggage just doesn't hold up very well if you travel by plane. I figure if I get a couple of years out of a set, I am doing good. Most of the time I have paid about $30 or so for a 3 pc set.

SM Question

How do people deliver their SM gifts? Do you leave them in FE, hung on their door or what? Whilst some of the SM gifts would go in a FE no probs, others would be too big/fragile/theivable etc. Before some-one thinks I've gone OTT with # gifts, both DDs are partaking as well as me & DH as a couple, so there is a fair amount of luggage here!

TIA

Celestine

I am planning on using the FE to deliver. I think though we will be giving our last gift in person for the unveiling. If it too large for the FE, you could probably ask your stateroom host to see about delivering it or guest services. GS would probably be best, unless you happen to be in the area as your SM.:)

Ok..here are some pictures from the Mickey Mouse Penthouse at the DL hotel.

Des....looks like fun! Thanks for sharing the pictures.

If you are able to unzip the cover to reveal the broken plastic....maybe you could just remove all of the plastic pieces and then slide in a piece of cardboard. At least it would make the suitcase a little firmer.

The boy's bathroom actually sounds like fun to me! :goodvibes

We are in the process of decorating our kid's bathroom....and we are doing a Mickey Mouse theme. There were so many things in that bathroom I would love to have. All we have so far is a MM lotion pump and soap dish, a couple of pictures on the walls and I got 2 big MM "hands" that are intended to be used as wash cloths, I believe. They are terry cloth and stuffed with foam. But I am going to attach them to a ribbon or cord and just hang them from the curtain rod as a decorative element. We did have some really cute pewter finished Mickey and Minnie towel hooks, but ds decided to see if he could climb the wall by holding onto the towel that was hanging from his Mickey hook. Crack, Thump! Yeah....that didn't work! :headache:

good Morning everyone! Only 23 more work days! I really need to get myself going on organizing packing, door signs, postcards etc. Chaeryl, you inspired me with your organizing! (Yes, you really did!) I still have to make our FE! DD has a sb game tonight and hopefully find out about play offs. The season end picnic and tournament is this coming weekend.

Okay - here is the FE I made. Hope you all like it!!

That is very nice. I see you used some Karen Foster embilishments!

Why oh why do kids do things like this????
I've had a closet door doorknob break off from a child climbing! Dh was *amazed* that as soon as I saw the broken doorknob I asked dd *Why were you standing on the doorknob?*
Good grief! As if there was some other explanation for a doorknob braking off! :confused3

Actually, they had them produced locally at a store at one of the ports. They ordered them in the morning and picked them up later that day before the ship left port.

Thanks for letting us know the details of that one. :) I read it on a live trip report and they didn't know at the time. I found it funny at the time.

Okay unziped the file, went to control panel.... can't find fonts! Where in the world is fonts under control panel?

Nevermind... doing some searching around and playing around with things and finally figured it out. LOL

Did it work for you??? :)

Airlines have limits on what you can bring, but does the ship? If we have our 2 pieces each of checked luggage and our carry-ons that the airlines allow, can we also have an extra bag that's just "cruise" supplies (i.e., water, FE gifts, alcohol, etc.)? Or does it all need to fit in our "airline allowed" luggage? Just trying to plan ahead!

Not a simple answer.

The "official DCL policy" is like airlines, 2 checked, one carry on and one personal per person. This shows up in a variety of thier printed documents. This isn't enforced though.

From other threads, it looks like they are cracking down on some of the other limitations. For example, their policy is no bottles (alcohol) in luggage:

Alcohol is permitted onboard. However, be aware that any fragile items (including bottled alcohol) must be hand-carried on board in a day bag and/or carry-on bag, the dimensions of which cannot exceed 22" wide, 14" high and 9" deep.
...
Please be advised: Disney Cruise Line® reserves the right to remove fragile items (including beverages) from luggage. In such cases, items will be stored and returned at the end of the voyage. Beverage containers are considered fragile and have previously caused damage in checked luggage.

Recent changes to the shipping to port policy indicated that they would no longer accept cases of water or other beverages as checked luggage, but reports from recent cruises indicate otherwise. (But you still can't ship liquids)

Generally speaking, you will probably be ok getting your stuff in, but if they decide to "enforce the rules" anything may happen. (of course, if they are smart, having dealt with this crew on Canal taxes, etc., they won't enforce it.....)

Also, you will probably only get 2 luggage tags per person in advance, so you will have to get DCL luggage tags at the port.
