Walt's - an American Restaurant

Walts- 9th April (Easter Monday)

We had phoned the week before to reserve a table at 1.00. We found ourselves stood outside at just after 12.00 feeling tired, hot, hungry and thirsty so decided to ask if they could bring our time forward. They checked their bookings but could not find one for us. (So advice there is that if you have reserved by phone check when you arrive).
However they were able to offer us a table at 12.30 when they opened. This suited us fine.
We returned after about 10 minutes and waited a short time in the lovely area downstairs. (Just long enough to look round and take a photo).

We were then told we could go up and were the first people in. We were seated in a small area- not really a room but more of a corridor with a trellis separating the tables from the walkway. It was quite a nice area, quiet and good for people watching as you could see other families coming up the stairs. There were only 3 tables- 2 beside the windows and one slightly in. We were seated at the one slightly in. I suppose we could have asked for a window one but it didn’t really matter and we could still see out of the window a bit.

DD was given the children’s menu which had puzzles on the back to colour in (based on the theme of healthy eating!!!)

There were 3 options:
Menu Dingo- Green Salad, Burger (in bun) with potatoes and vegetables, followed by crème caramel.

Menu Bambi-Hard boiled egg shaped like a mushroom with tomatoe on top with lettuce, Cheese ravioli with tomato and cream sauce followed by fruit salad

Menu Belle et le Clochard- Raw vegetables and tomatoes with cheese dip, Chicken with spaghetti and vegetables followed by apple puree.

Cost was 12E including drink of orange, milk or water.

DD opted for Menu Dingo. I didn’t get the impression you could mix and match as has been suggested on another thread but we didn’t think of asking.
The three courses all came together served on a Mickey shaped plate with 2 small bowls for starter and dessert. DD enjoyed it but the salad did have quite a lot of dressing on. I think she would have preferred the veg and dips and the fruit salad for dessert. It’s a shame you can’t mix and match really but the way its served is fun.

The adults menu is still the same as on DLP Food guide but the desserts have changed. DH and I weren’t sure if we wanted 2 or 3 courses so were going to decide after we’d eaten our main course but we were asked to decide at the beginning which option we were going for.

We both ordered Chicken Caesar Salad – delicious and just the right amount.
DH then had steak, with Béarnaise sauce, potatoes and vegetables.

I had Chicken supreme with potatoes and vegetables.

Both were delicious and again just the right amount.

By now I was struggling and probably shouldn’t have ordered a dessert but as we had said we were going to have one I thought I might as well order something.

Cant remember the name of it but it was 3 large craqueline circles (like brandy snaps) filled with a white chocolate cream with strawberries.

DH had the Gourmet Chocolate dessert - some kind of chocolate and orange mousse with chocolate ice cream. Both were delicious.

We had ordered soft drinks and a jug of tap water. Part way through the meal the waiter brought a bottle of water for us. We said we hadn’t ordered it but he said it was from him as we were having to wait for our main course. To be honest I hadn’t noticed the wait- it was just nice sitting down and taking in the atmosphere.

The couple next to us (I think Spanish or Italian) only ordered a starter and coffee. The waiter needed to go to check with someone but they were allowed it and that was during the main meal time. Useful info if you don’t want a big meal but want to try the restaurant- it’s always worth asking.

All in all we really enjoyed the meal. It was the first time we had eaten here and would definitely do it again but we might ask about mixing the children’s menus.

I wish I had taken a photo of the dessert we had as no-one on the forum seems to have tried it yet.

It was the Pear Piano Concerto which consisted of two pieces of puff pastry (in the shape of the piano lid in the lobby) filled with slices of poached pear, the top was propped open like the lid of the piano by a curled piece of chocolate and was all dusted in icing sugar...on the plate a line of sheet music has been piped in chocolate and there was a small bowl of toffee ice-cream.

It was delicious!

Just got back from DLRP. We had dinner one evening at Walts and had a mixed, but overall favorable experience. I'm writing this from an American's point of view which I understand can be quite different from those in Europe.

We made reservations the evening before at the City Hall desk. Some of the other restaurants were already booked for our prefered time, so better to reserve earlier than to wait too long.

The waiter had difficulty with a couple of the orders: he brought too many beef filets and no veal filet. Probably a language/accent misunderstanding. But the change added quite a bit of time to the meal.

If you like your steaks medium or medium-well, please order it medium-well or well-done, or it might be a bit bloody for you. This actually applies to every place in France that I have ordered a steak.

As already mentioned the Cinderella's slipper was no longer a dessert choice.

The food was very tasty, though. My dad had the clam chowder, which he said was very good - better than the one he had at the Newport Bay Club's Yacht Club restaurant.

I had the Gourmet chocolate dessert mentioned (and pictured) previously in this thread. A cup of white and dark chocolate mousse topped with an orange flavored pudding and a browny at the bottom. It was good, but the best part of it was the scoop of rich dark chocolate ice cream on the side.

My three-year old fell asleep immediately after ordering. The waiter was very helpful and kept her plate warm in the kitchen if she woke up later to eat it. When she didn't wake up by the end of the meal, he took the order off the bill.

I just ate lunch here today with my 2 daughters, (ages 1 and 5). It was very good.

My DD had the kids meal with a hamburger. She said she wasn't hungry but ate almost all of it. I had a bite and it was very good. She also liked the caramel creme dessert with it.

I started with a Chicken Ceasar Salad, which was pretty average.

Then I had the Baked (or maybe it was Roasted) Cod with White Butter Sauce... It was absolutely heavenly. I might have to go back just to eat this again. It was on a bed of spinach and had some ham in the sauce. It was accompanied by ravioli with scallops (I think) and some type of bread.

Anyway, it is nice to eat a good meal and not constantly worry about the girls disturbing other customers.

Also, we walked up at around 12:10 and were able to get their first seating at 12:30.

We ate here on October 22 this year. We had booked the week before we went so there was no worry about a table being available. We were seated in the Adventureland room and there is plenty to look at while you wait for your food, from interesting pictures on the wall, through decor and artefacts. The menu is a 'photo album' with one side being pictures of Walt's life and the other side having the menu items on it.
Anyway my daughter chose chicken and fettucine in tomato and basil sauce.

SSL13041-1.jpg

followed by apple crumble and apricot sorbet

SSL13050-1.jpg

I had tomato tartare and riccota cheese with tomato bread

SSL13042-1.jpg

followed by gourmet burger coleslaw and fries (sorry, started eating it before I remembered to photo it!)

SSL13048-1.jpg

Husband had shrimp with tapioca like pearls of Japan and sea foam

SSL13043-1.jpg

followed by wheat risotto with scallops

SSL13047-1.jpg

The whole thing was really lovely and we would recommend it to anyone - just looking at the photos makes my husband start drooling!

We were given the bill and it was 94 Euros which was a bit surprising until we realised we had been charged for 4 meals....and several drinks we hadn't had! They'd given us the bill from another table :rotfl2: but they sorted it quite quickly. I gave the wrong card so only got 10% discount :headache: which meant the bill came to 64.39 Euros.

We ate here last Friday 29th Dec. We had booked for 6.30 but hoped if we arrived early we may be able to get in a bit earlier to make sure of being out for Candlebration at 7.30. There were loads of people trying to get a table without reservations. We didn’t have to wait long and were shown upstairs. Unfortunately we didn’t get a window seat and hadn’t asked. We wished we had as just after we sat down the people at the window table next to us stood up to go but it was too late to ask to change.
We had a lovely meal. We noticed the menu had changed. Instead of an option of 2 courses or 3 courses for different prices there is now a choice of 2 different priced set menus each one with 2 or 3 choices for starter and main course.
I cant remember the exact price but the cheaper menu was approx 26E and had 2 courses or with coffee for an extra few Euros. I didn’t really take much notice of what was on the menu but I know one of the starters was the Caesar salad and I think one of the main courses was the Chicken supreme and another the Walts burger.
The more expensive menu was I think 36E and included a choice of 3 starters:
Foie Gras with Spiced bread
Scallops with ?
A mixture of the 2 and a Beetroot dish.

DH and I both ordered the mixture which came on a lovely plate with 3 sections with a small portion of each of these starters. Delicious and very good for people like me who can never make up their minds or like to taste everything.

The main courses included a choice of
Steak with Truffle sauce
A Fish dish and something else (sorry cant remember what it was)

Again DH and I opted for the same dish – the steak which was delicious and came with potatoes and some lovely unusual veg.

This menu also included dessert which offered a choice of anything from the dessert menu.
DH opted for the Gourmand Chocolate Platter which consisted of several types of chocolate dessert and a jug of cream.
I choose the crème brulee which was on a base made from Pecan nuts in the style of cheese cake. This was set alight at the table to burn the sugar on the top.

Other dessert choices I can remember were crumble, ice cream etc (About 8 choices in all)

Sorry I didn’t take more note of what choices were available on each menu.

As well as the set menus you can still choose individual items from the A la Carte menu. DGM only wanted a main course so chose the Chicken supreme which again was served with potatoes and veg. She was asked if she wanted it served when we had our starter or main course.

The childrens menu had also changed slightly. There is still a choice of 3 menus at 12E each. This includes a drink- either water or soda.
Each menu now has the same starter: Salad, Tomatoes, Carrot sticks with a yoghurt dip. Then
Menu Dingo- Burger, potato wedges, vegetables and Crème Caramel

Menu Bambi –Cheese Ravioli with Tomato Sauce and Fruit Fondu with Chocolat sauce

Menu Belle et le Clochard- Chicken, Pasta, Vegetables and Apple Puree.

DD opted for Menu Dingo but asked for the fruit and chocolate dessert instead. There was no problem at all with this substitution.

The meal was served on a Mickey shaped plate all at once however the waiter had forgotten about the change of dessert but as soon as he put it down he realised and took away the dessert and brought the correct one.

There is also a teenager menu for 15E: Walts Burger or Fish and Chips followed by Chocolate Tarte and Mousse or Chocolate Crepes

Our waiter was really friendly and nothing was too much trouble even when we suddenly remembered after we’d ordered that we could get free drinks with the AP he brought them to us.
So once again a wonderful meal in wonderful surroundings. Our only complaint was it was so hot in there.

Hello! I have just joined the forum! :wave2:

My boyfriend is taking me to Disneyland Paris at the beginning of April as an anniversary present, and we are hoping to be able to eat at Walt's. I noticed on the DLRPfoodguide that menu seems to have gone out of date. I was just wondering if anyone has been to the restaurant recently and can possibly tell me some examples of what is on the current menu?

Thank you very much! :goodvibes

We ate at Walt’s on Wednesday 20th February. Sorry that I can't remember all that was on the menu but I can tell you about what we had.

The latest booking they would take was 3.30 so we took that and went into earlier in the day to ask if we could have a window table so that we could watch the Parade. That had been noted and we were given the table as requested.
Husband had at Tasting Plate, which consisted of 3 mini samples of other starters. IIRC it was fois gras, beetroot and artichoke ‘thing’ and a scallop.

For main course he had the bream,

The food was lovely and Walts is a really special place to eat. The bill before discounts was 95.38 Euros.

Thank you so much!!

Thats wonderful. My DBF is a bit of a fussy eater... However, he loves steak so that'll go down wonderfully!!

Thanks for the gorgeous pictures.

We ate here again on 29th March at lunch time- our last day. Once again we had a wonderful meal.

DD went for the children’s menu: Veg sticks and dip, Chicken with pasta, Chocolate fondue with fruit to dip. She really enjoyed the meal especially the chicken and pasta for a change.

There are 2 set price meals for adults – the cheapest 2 courses but you can pay a bit extra for Gourmet Coffee.

DS and I opted for this menu (me with the coffee option)

DS had Caesar salad followed by Steak with bearnaise sauce, potatoes and veg. He then got a dessert from the a la carte menu – chocolate fondue with exotic fruits.

I had the beetroot starter which was thin slices of beetroot (not pickled) layered with creamy artichoke. It was served with salad and was delicious. I fancied trying something different and would definitely order it again. I then had the Walts burger which I’ve never had before. Again it was lovely but so filling- that was another reason why I chose a lighter starter. I had then opted for the Gourmet coffee which was a coffee with a selection of desserts – there was a small custard dessert, a macaroon, a chocolate tarte and a chocolate. It was lovely as I really enjoy this French idea of several small portions of different desserts with coffee.

DH had gone for the more expensive menu which included a dessert and had Fois Gras, followed by Steak with truffle sauce, potatoes and veg. He then had a choice of any dessert on the menu so chose the Chocolate fondue with exotic fruit like DS.

We really enjoyed the meal and Walts has continued to be one of our favourite restaurants.

It looks as if they have replaced most of the mickey mouse crockery with plain white and glass according to hildasmuriel's photos :(

You are very observant! I hadn't noticed that the crockery had changed between our October photos and those from February.
That's a shame.

I really want to eat here when we go in May, the pictures have my mouth watering already. Everything just looks so good and the presentation is fantastic.
