Pot smokers at DLR

Since getting back to Florida i've been trying to explain to my WDW AP friends the sorts of people who "hang out" at DLR and how there's a whole bunch of them who are less then enjoyable to be around I feel Disney needs to tighten up security, rules, prices - anything - to have them thrown out of the park and denied access for forever and a day.

Those folks were almost always SoCal AP holders.

And thus in the argument I present exhibit A:

People blatantly smoking pot on Pirates of the Caribbean.

http://micechat.com/forums/disneyland-resort/142189-smoking-pot-potc-garbage.html

Yes, it's a link to another forum but we're not discussing the forum or the posters, but rather the behavior observed and subsequent defense/condoning offered by some of those who frequent the parks.

Anywho.. on the topic, I think Disneyland really needs to crack down on this sort of behavior in the park. I've seen it, other people have seen it, and it just seems to be ignored by CM's. I think getting rid of the cheap AP's who do a lot to weed some of these folks out too.

I just can't believe what is considered acceptable by some folks on the west coast at a Disney park.

Okay, so, how do you know that people that you found being less than enjoyable were So Cal AP holders? That's a rather bold assumption.

And if Disney security knew if anyone smoking an illegal substance in the Park, I feel confident that they would - at a minimum - escort the out of the Park if not hand them over the Anaheim police.

P.S. "needs to crack down" - ahahahaha! ROFL!!!

Not illegal in California by my understanding. You can have it there with a medical card or something.

I can smell the stuff from miles away and in all my days at DL have not encountered anyone smoking in the park. Wish I could say the same for tobacco and cigars! I'd actually prefer to smell the first item.

I've seen rude behavior on both coasts, people leaving trash around etc. I don't think geography or CA AP holders have anything to do with it.

I've definitely smelled pot on the grounds of the PPH (on the long pathway to get to the parks when you don't take the short cut), but never actually in DL or DCA. And if I did smell it in DL or DCA, I don't know how I would be able to tell that the smokers in question were SoCal people.

For the record, I have also seen random drunk adults stumbling around DCA - probably from the alcohol that they bought in that park (which was unfortunate) - and I have no clue if they were from SoCal or another state (or country).

And that reminds me of all the drunk, loud, staggering around people I've seen at the Epcot Food and Wine festival. No doubt FL AP holders. *wink*

Darn i thought this was a sign up thread. J/K, i have never seen people or smelled people smoking weed in DLR or DCA, in the hotels that is a different story but thats why they have smoking rooms, its better for you than cigarettes that for sure but should not be present in the parks!

I have been to Disneyland many times, and have never encounted anyone smoking pot.
They must have been lucky and snuck it past security.
It's gross, I wouldn't want to see that during my Disney experience, and it is very unfortunate that you had to experience that.
But this is by no means a normal or regular thing seen or done at Disneyland or DCA.
So I hope this one inicdent doesn't form your entire opinion on the Disney parks here in Cali.

100% wrong to do. Wether you have a card or not does not allow you to smoke anywhere you want.

now now, ive learned a lot and one thing is to keep an open, unbiased mind. Benefit of the doubt!

I don't know about pot being 'safer' than cigs, but smoking out side the smoking areas should be prohibited. I smoke btw.
With California having that 'medical' mary jane thing,I doubt they could make them stop smoking it all together. If ADA doesn't make you prove a disability to get a GAC,then they shouldn't have to ask for a pot script.

On POTC? That's a pretty bold move, they have cameras everywhere! Take the toking over to Tom Sawyer's Island. I've known a few friends that got kicked out, so if you get caught they will send you home.

i have never heard of anybody dieing from smoking Pot thats for sure, but i know cigarettes come with a warning label on EVERY single pack:thumbsup2

I would be so mad if someone smoked pot around my kids. Especially at DL! It may be safer than cigarette smoke but there is such a thing as contact high. Never smelled it though but if I did I would complain to the CM's or spot out the person's that were doing it and give them a piece of my mind.

Dude, your many posts griping about Disneyland and Disneyland clientele have me rolling every time I read them! :rotfl: Thanks for a good Monday evening chuckle. I look forward to your future posts. :thumbsup2

It's like.. the park would just be so much better if they'd let me take a power washer to those unwashed SoCal masses and one of those big push-broom-squeegees and sweep them away until they were out into the esplanade.. and maybe over in DCA with the rest of the crap.

If you live in Florida and like Disneyworld better, then why do you venture all the way to California and Disneyland?

You do realize that many, many posters over there are AP holders, right?

As part of your so called "SoCal Masses", I would like to speak on our behalf. If you have issues with "our" park, then by all means; DON'T COME BACK!

Disneyland doesn't need your business b/c they have plenty of SoCal AP holders to sully Walt's park with their alleged "pot smoking". Stick with WDW and have a great Disney Day!

I like how it's "alleged" - seriously people post online about doing it in the park. It's not some urban legend.

And I only go back because it's free - I lived in SoCal for 11 months with a Premium AP (now Premier - ha!). Ya'll have no idea how pleasant DLR is when SoCal AP's are blocked out.

How can I say it's because of SoCal AP's? Because I lived 10mins away when I was there and had a Premium pass. I went on subsequent days and saw just how much nicer it was without SoCal AP's and their bad behavior.

Point blank, a significant portion of that AP population treats the park like it's some personal play thing. They have no respect for anything or anyone else in it. If you want to pretend that's not true, be my guest, but it is and it's been noted by many people, not just myself.
