I've never been in March - any opinions on this time of year?

I just started planning for the 6-12... Anyone else going in March? What have you planned so far?

WoooHOoooo we are booked right now from March 7-12 at AKV club room. So excited. We went this past march around the same time for our 10th anniversary and when I called and could get a cl room through DVC we decided to celebrate our 11th there as well. We will probably add another night or 2 at either poly, gf, or wl for cash.

Last year there was a cheer competition down there and it was INSANE at certain parks certain days. We are normally there for Christmas so the lines were much shorter then we were used to. People were definatly different though. Seemed to us that no one was happy to be there. But we will be going back so it was definatly do able. Temps were nice shorts weather the entire time without it being overly hot.

Thanks for the info about the Cheer Competitions... I competed myself in H.S. - but that was eons ago... might be fun to watch. Actually - I'll probably avoid those parks on those days if at all possible.

We are planning to stay at Shades of Green - I loved it the last time we were there... this time I"m leaving the family home and my bff and I are going (with possibly a 3rd friend). I've never vacationed with out DH or the kiddos - so I"m unsure of that aspect - especialy when I tell the kids where I"m going.

I have not officially booked anything yet - since we are waiting on the 3rd friend... but I will just as soon as I have a definite.

Just wondering if there are any discounts available at that time of the year - we too are looking at a trip at that time of the year. Am sure there won't be free dining or anything close but a gal can dream right...!

March is agreat time of year to go. The weather is usually warm enough to swim, but not humid. It's a great break from the midwest winter.

As far as discounts, we have been lucky enough to get discounts for our past two trips--both in March. The first one (2009) was 7/4 nights and a $200 gift card. The last one (2010) was just 7/4 nights. These discounts didn't come out until later the year before. Can we be so lucky again? Well, a girl can hope! (And a little pixie dust couldn't hurt, either)

I am planning a trip to WDW from March 21st-March 26th and I know that I can't book until August since we want to stay at the POP. Do they normally offer free dining around this time?

I've never seen free dining in March. Usually that is something they save for "Hurricane Season". In '09 when they did $200 gift cards, that covered food for the first two days. That was nice.

I am so glad to see this. I thought I was the only person this insane to be planning our return trip for the end of March. Since Easter is at the end of April Im hoping the end of March thru the beginning of April we will miss all the crowds.
For those that have been before can you do the water parks at this time of year or is it too chilly to go?

I think it depends on the year. We've been to the water parks in December and January, so...it's really just luck of the draw.

We're in for March! I think my best friend and I will be coming down and joining my parents (who are arriving a week earlier) on or around March 13th. I'll be staying through the 20th; not sure about my friend. We would also like to avoid those lovely, peppy cheerleaders, so if anyone gets any more details about that, please share!

I think it depends on the year. We've been to the water parks in December and January, so...it's really just luck of the draw.

It also depends on where you are visiting from. Quite honestly, when we leave our home in the midwest, we've usually had a string of months where 30 above would seem like a heat wave. So yes, we are those crazy people swimming, when a lot of othe people think it is too cold. To us, anything over 60 at that point is doable.

BLT: March 11 to March 18

Happy Birthday to ME!!!!!


We have been in March one other time when the kids were little. It was a little cool in the morning, shorts were ok, one morning we had a light jacket. Quite toasty by midday and then cool again at night- shorts and a light jacket. We did the water parks and swam in the pool. And since I'm a southern girl, I like it warm. The great thing about Disney is the pools are heated in the cooler months. I remember the waterpark lazy river and pools being a little cool but bearable. The waterslide water was chilly, I guess because it is constantly circulated, so when you sat down in your tube or on your mat it was a bit of a shock but still tolerable even for this mid-alabama girl.

So if you see me, give me a wave and a happy birthday.... number (shh!) 45.... and also my mom's b'day as well a few days before.

We will be the family who you will think has lost their mind...... LOL!

Travel

Me, DH, DD (14), DS (21), My mom (63), and DD (19) and her 2 children DGD (2 yo) and ? unborn as of yet (3 months old) YIKES! I must be getting crazy in my old age! LOL!!!

We went this part March from the 10-15th and the weather was really nice.. It was warm but not overly hot. We wore shorts and tees all day. We did have a lot of rain though. I know it rained for over 24 hours straight and there were tornados not too far south of WDW. But we managed just fine.

Right now we are booked at AKL in a CL studio from 7-12. We will be adding one more night at another Deluxe resort CL just not sure where we want to go yet. Its just DH and I, the kids will be with Grammy and Poppy. I don't know who is more excited us or the kids!!!

OK - so tell me that I'm not truly insane... we are going during Mardi Gras - our top running resort (at the moment) is POFQ! Do you think this will impact our stay? Or will all the people that actually enjoy Mardi Gras actually be at Mardi Gras? LOL!

Second... what's this I hear about Cheerleaders? I used to be one - but I really don't want to vacation with a bunch of them. KWIM? Any info about that would be appreciated too.

Can't wait until Aug - when I can get some of these plans booked!

I agree - I hope since Easter is so late this year, crowds will be light. Also, I really hope that Disney will add some codes for this time period... I'd really like a code! Even though, I have read that Disney will stop doing so many great codes.

I will be traveling with my mother and my DD who will be 10.

We came for Mardi Gras 09 and had such a great time! We usually go in the summer but the weather was so nice last MG and I am hoping for nice weather this time too. I undersand weather is nice in March? I think last time we were there it was late Feb and we had light jackets in the am but some nights it was pretty chilly! Mostly jeans and tee shirts in the daytime.

We will probably be staying at the Pop again but dont really know for sure, as we will be booking a package when the rates come out in August.

Also have to get plane tix on Aug 15!!

We will be at OKW from 3/12-3/19. It is my granddaughters' spring break so it will be me, DH, DD, SIL, 2 DGDs, 1 DGS. We were there in March several years ago and the weather was very cool and rainy but I know that at that time of year anything is possible. We will just watch the weather and pack accordingly.

I already have some restaurants I want to try. I know we are doing Narcossees on the 11th since that will be our 11th anniversary and we had dinner there last year for our 10th and we LOVED it.

I figure I better start planning for March since I have everything done already for Dec. Now I am just excited I have more people to plan with!

I am going with my 2 BFFs (girls trip this time, dh and kids are staying home)... only one of them has truly committed. So, if it' just the two of us - we are planning to stay at POFQ, if there's 3... I'm going to go for the Poly - we have never stayed there, but spent a lot of time there with my family when we stayed at SoG - and it's a gorgeous resort! And having a day bed would be wonderful.

I have never eaten at Narcossees, but I've heard wonderful things about it.
