I just watched the Godfather Part I and II

I really like them both but I’m not as big a fan as some. Part 2 returns to the big screen this November for the 45th Anniversary. We saw Part 1 on the big screen for its anniversary in 2017. Two bona fide film masterpieces.
They were films that weren’t rushed or hurried along. Some films should have been but weren’t. 1 and 2 move along slowly but it worked. They didn’t need rushed along.

I swear on the souls of my grandchildren that I will not be the one to break the peace we have made here today.

Of course he already knew he was going to give the business to Michael and Michael was going to settle all accounts.

I now want to be the Godfather

The latest mob hit in Staten Island.

The position is open now. :rolleyes1

Turns out it wasn't a mob hit after all. The mob boss didn't like some guy dating one of his female relatives. The guy got mad and whacked him. :sad2: Probably didn't even know that he whacked the Boss.

He's not going to last long in prison. :duck:

I have to wonder though. . . :scratchin If you're the mob boss, would you rather get taken out by a rival mob? Or just hit by a random guy who had nothing to do with the mob?

I think I'd rather be whacked by a rival mob. There's some dignity & honor in going down that way. They saw you as a threat and rubbed you out. You live by a code, you die by that code. But, being whacked by some random guy? Sheesh! :sad2:

and he didnt but his son did is soon as he died.

And the acting by Al Pacino when his wfie told him she aborted his son , his chin was shivering and his stink eye scared me

I thought Godfather 3 was good, but not great like the first two.

If you haven’t already seen it, you should also watch Goodfellas.
One time through for three was enough for me. I agree, Goodfellas is a great movie. Loved Casino too and Donnie Brasco.

When I was a kid the mob was still a very out in the open thing here. I’ve always been fascinated by it. If there wasn’t a hockey game on tonight I’d start a mob movie marathon.

I loved the way the characters in the Sopranos absolutely venerated The Godfather films. They were a hoot!

You think I'd make my sister a widow?

No but Clemenza might........

That was the moment where it came full circle. Where the fall of Michael was completed. Where you knew any semblance of innocence Michael may have once had was completely gone.

There is a combo Godfather 1/Godfather2 edit that is about 6 or 7 hours long that is awesome. HBO aired it a couple of years ago and it's interesting how long you
can watch before you need a break. It's so good you just forget about the time. It included some segments that were previously unreleased and made for a really enjoyable film to watch.

I love the Godfather movies, with II probably being my favorite. Although there are scenes in the first that I find especially memorable as well.

I particularly like them because if you take a step back and really think about it, there are tons of life's lessons in these movies.
