Around a dozen trips and never an issue with ME delivery
Just checking a small bag with liquids
We've never had an issue. Lately though I prefer just grabbing my own bags so I don't have to pack a change of close and sunscreen in my carry-on. Plus I bring window decorations and I like to take care of that as soon as we arrive.
For two years in a row now, the service didn't send my friend's bag to the airport after she checked it at the hotel before going home. Both times, it was still at the hotel when she got home. They delivered it to her house the following day. Since then, I stopped using the service. It isn't a big deal to take it myself - suitcases have wheels.
Just an FYI. Checking baggage at the resort and having it delivered to the airport is a completely different service than luggage delivery from the airport to the resort. Checking bags at the resort to be sent to the airport is handled by a company called Bags Incorporated. Magical Express and luggage delivery from the airport to the resort is run by Mears Shuttle. Since this thread was asking specifically about Magical Express bag delivery by Mears I felt the need to explain.
BAGS handles the luggage both ways. Mears operates the buses.
Oops. Got bad info from the guy delivering our luggage to our room from the airport then. Thanks.
Wow! That’s crazy! How could all 3 tags go missing what do those luggage handlers do with those bags? Yikes. I always have my name, address and phone written on a piece of paper inside luggage too. Great that DME was able to find it.In January, all of the luggage tags somehow came off my luggage. The resort tag, the airline tag, the souvenir luggage tag....all of them. I got a call (while checking in) from DME asking me to describe my bags so they could deliver. With no tags AT ALL on the bag, they were still able to get my bag to me...all within about an hours time. We have never had problems before, but I was pretty impressed with how that handled that issue.
Good to know! The last time I used the yellow tags, which was 2 years ago, my airline (Delta) tore the yellow tag off my luggage while I was showing my ID at the counter! While I was talking to the counter agent, some other worker just walked up to my luggage behind the agent and tore it off without asking! I happened to notice it and freak out, and luckily, I had extras with me and I handed them another yellow tag which they put on for me. After that I was worried about the luggage during the entire 8 hour flight, but later got the luggage in the hotel fine, although I had to wait for a few hours and that was nerve wrecking. I had my baby with me and I really needed all my luggage. In January, all of the luggage tags somehow came off my luggage. The resort tag, the airline tag, the souvenir luggage tag....all of them.
