Welcome NativeFl!! Tell us a bit about your family that will be traveling on the Magic in 3 weeks... yesssssss, 3 weeks from today.... :)
Beth in NH

We are travelling on the May 24 cruise in a Cat 2 - my husband and I are celebrating our 10-year anniversary and renewing our vows on board. Joining us will be my mother, and our three kids, ages 5-8.

We booked all excursions through Disney -- did some price checking and found no major differences doing it ourselves. We are doing:
Glass bottom boat on Key West
Stingray City/Nautilus on Grand Cayman
Reef Snorkeling on Cozumel

We will be formal both formal nights, as the semi-formal night is our renewal night! Have the APL rotation/early seating.

New at this message board stuff, but thanks for great info.

Hi, Susan! That's wonderful with the renewing of your vows onboard... are you doing the disney vow renewal package? Welcome aboard :) Beth in NH (two Beths on here!)

 Thankyou. I'm glad I found this site. We're new to forum posting so bear with us. The three of us (My husband, 9 yr old son, and myself) are taking our second Disney cruise. (May 2000 we took 3 night.)

We have been going to Disney every year since our son was born for a vacation or two, but decided to try something a bit more relaxing. We loved the first cruise and our son has said on a few occassions that the cruise was his best vacation to date. I would have to agree with him. It was just too short.

We are struggling to decide what to do for our excursions. Our son is not adept at snorkeling. Would stingray city still be ok for us? He's a great swimmer but not fond of the mask & snorkel setup. Any other suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks in advance. Looking forward to meeting you 5/24 cruisers online soon.

Beth,

We've certainly got a Home Depot nearby and I'm even willing to actually go in  and look for the lime green paint swatch. Since DH is not exactly handy (although you didn't hear it from me), "the man" usually has to come and do any activity that would require a visit to Home Depot. Uh oh, does this mean that I have to make the name tag!!!! Double

Welcome to NativeFL and and to our new May anniversary couple (Sara)!

Yes, Beth, we're doing the Disney package. They do a private ceremony on the ship on one of the at sea days (Thursday). The best part is that the captain performs the ceremony!

We are trying to decide what roles our children should play in the event. Samantha is 8, Michael is 7, and Steven is almost 6. It will just be family at the ceremony, so we don't have to worry too much, but would like them to be involved. Any ideas?

Also -- to Leslie, Todd and Josh -- I would recommend Stingray City (on others' recommendations), and just do the mask instead of the combo with snorkel. Most kids can get comfortable with a good mask, and really like the visibility. So he'll just have to lift his head to breathe every now and then. This is what we did with our youngest last year, and he enjoyed the 'snorkeling' just fine!

How do you know which message you are replying to??

you don't reply to a specific posting...by hitting reply, your post will just show up at the end of the list. if you want to reference a particular comment, select the comment, copy it (ctrl-c), click on "quote" and paste it (ctrl-v) into the box that pops up. then type your response. that's how i did this post.

leslie...i sent you a pm about joining our private yahoo group.

welcome aboard!

Welcome aboard! i okayed your request to join our yahoo site. come on in, add your info to our database and if you want, post a family picture!

Congrats on the anniversary. Tim and I thought about doing the renewal on board (our 15th was last week), but decided that most of what came with the package we were already getting being in a cat 1, and we decided to use the $$ for a special anniversary gift to each other.

as for involving your kids....why not ask your daughter to be your maid of honor and have your two sons escort you "down the aisle"? not knowing how they do the ceremony, that might not work, but i'll bet you could ask them to do it so they could escort you into the room and "give you away" to their dad!

Welcome, Leslie, Todd and Josh and Susan and family!

Wow! Lots of May anniversaries! Such a great time to get married! :p

We have a Home Depot here, so I'll be able to pick up a paint swatch (or whatever it is). I'll wait to see which color gets picked. :D

we start driving down in 17 days!

get those last minute anniversary plans in place - there isn't much time left.

For any of you driving down to Port Canaveral or if you are flying into Orlando and then driving to the Port, please be aware that it is LOVE BUG season!

If you do not know about love bugs, they are bugs that fly in twos. They are mating. They get all over your car and windshield and it looks like the plague! They are tough as you know what to get off. You may have to stop just to wash your windows or maybe even get your car washed just to be able to see!

Good luck and safe driving. See you on board!

love bugs on the drive and ants in the parking lot. ah...the joys of summer!

Hey Beth,

I still didn't get the info for the link to the Yahoo site.

I just noticed you're in Plano. My DH will be in Dallas next week and the week after (right up until 2 days before the cruise). We both work for Eckerd Drug Corp. and he's working with the Dallas distribution center.

Let me know about that link.

Val...I just sent you a PM. Let me know how it works out.

Beth

Beth,

I "registered" and will wait for approval. Thanks!

We're looking forward to seeing your beautiful suite! How exciting! Is that formal night on the ship?

Later, VAL

actually, i think they've switched formal and semi-formal night, so that monday is semi-formal night.

Does anybody else have problems with their message going in the Trash folder? I think I miss most of what's going on because half the time I forget to checlk that folder, and it automatically empties every couple of days.
Was the meet date and time finalized? Is it on Monday, and what time?
We have definitely decided that we are going to explore all three ports on our own vs. booking anything in advance...should be an interesting adventure!

i have that problem with lots of my email, not just from this list, but from a number of the lists i'm on. i think it is because it IS a list and my email is set to consider them junk mail.

the meet is set for monday around 4:45pm at the promenade lounge. we'll grab drinks, make sure everyone is there, then troop up to the walt suite. if anyone can't make it to promenade, then just swing by the walt suite a bit after 5:00 and knock on the door. don't forget to wear your new lime green mickey head badge so we know who you are (like we wouldn't know you and tony, barb!).
