Disney News, Discussion & an Element of Fun!

Hey now, not just kids! My wife did the DCP at like 38 years old!

    Fastpass return or replacement?

They might not do that initially, but I can almost guarantee that's something they have discussed once they're comfortable with everything. Surge pricing on park tickets, why not surge pricing on rides? If people will pay it, they will charge it.

    Fastpass return or replacement?

I think they'll sell as many as they can sell, and they'll bump BG's to do it. Having a BG is not a guarantee that you will get to ride. They would much rather have sad people and more money than sad people and less money.

    Fastpass return or replacement?

I'm sure they'll try to pass that off as a perk, but I don't know too many people that would fall for that spin. I don't know too many people that would say "Oh man, if we just spend thousands more to stay on site, we'll be the first ones to be able to have the privilege to spend even more money...

    Fastpass return or replacement?

While I personally feel like that would be a fantastic perk, it also completely negates what they're trying to do. They're giving on site the ability to be the first to pay for the privilege of riding, which means they would greatly prefer that all the BG's are gone for the on site folks, so...

    Fastpass return or replacement?

Definitely not too cynical. As someone mentioned in response to me, they can also do both and just not have a standby at all. Seems like they'd need some time with just VQ, if nothing more than to have a good idea of throughput and how many "guests" they can squeeze through on an average day...

    Fastpass return or replacement?

Remy's will be Virtual Queue, as is Rise of the Resistance. They may eventually move to the extra fee, but not right away. I suspect either Soarin or Frozen at Epcot and MMRR at Hollywood Studios will open as extra fee. I think what we'll likely see long term is that brand new rides will be...

    Fastpass return or replacement?

I think if they were smart, they could leverage those FP rewards in a vast number of ways. Certainly in my post, I was more speaking from the point of view of the bean counters at Disney. Merch, dining, paid upgrades of any kind (Halloween party as an example). I'd want to reward spending...

    Fastpass return or replacement?

Agree with this. The most logical system I could come up with: All guests get 1 FP. I wouldn't want to alienate a portion of my guests by not making sure they had access to at least 1. On site value and moderate get 2 FP. Reward those staying in the bubble. On site deluxe get 3 FP...

Mickey bars will be in grocery stores in February

DW must have found them at our local grocery store (not sure which one, Florida panhandle) yesterday, as she brought me one last night after dinner. Never had one at a park, but it wasn't bad at all.

Cat coughing, difficult to swallow, heart murmurs

Had to log in and chime in on this one. Almost exactly a year ago I had to put my best buddy to sleep. Went to a vet, ran some tests. Couldn't find anything wrong. Went back when things didn't get better. Ran some more tests. Told me the good news, it's not Lymphoma. Prescribed more meds. Cat...

BYOS bring your own straw (Disney removing straws and more in 2019)

Actually, both of you may be correct. The 4% number is by piece, the .03% is by weight.

Had to put my kitty down tonight

So so sorry to hear about your cat. Having had to put mine down in January because of Lymphoma, I know how tough it is. I'm sure he would tell you how thankful he is that he passed having known what it was like to have a family of his own.

    Entergy Bill/Electric Bill

As someone who works for an energy supplier, I couldn't agree with this more! Those who live in deregulated states should be making this a part of their yearly financial evaluations. We have a ton of customers that shop around, then call and ask us if we can match. When people come off a...

Best used cars at 100k miles?

We owned an Altima that we bought used at around 36k miles in 2004. We finally got rid of it in 2015. It was over 250k miles by that point. It was still running, but was starting to finally have little things crop up on a regular basis. My wife loved that car!

    Disney challenging property tax valuations

Search Google for "property tax by state". All of them show Florida in the 20's out of the 50 states. I own a house in the panhandle, but am currently living in New York for work....I can't afford a house here, and property taxes are a major reason...

    Graduate Students in CP

My wife did the program at 37 years old, and she didn't want to leave! I think you'll be fine :)

    Hollywood Studio's new name

I still think that Hollywood is something they want to get away from. The Hollywood theme (and the rest of that park's theme) is mostly gone. It doesn't fit the vision of the park anymore. I joke with my wife that the new name is Disney Toy Wars Studios. In reality, I would prefer to see...

    Hollywood Studio's new name

I actually like the name, but I get the sense that they are trying to move away from the Hollywood connotation.
