2023 vacation plans?

ooh we also did London and Paris that year! We're going back in April because we loved Paris so much. 9 days for half the price of a Disney long weekend.
Did you get to visit Disneyland Paris and if not are you planning on it for this trip? We did 2 nights there.

Lord willing*, DW and I are going to London in April for our 35th.

*--We had this same trip planned for our 30th, but I was in an accident and we had to cancel.. I don't take these things for granted anymore.
How long are you going for? It is such a wonderful city. We packed a lot in our time there Tower of London, Tower Bridge, Churchill War Rooms, changing of the guard at Buckingham Palace, The Royal Mews, Westminster Abbey, V&A Museum, went on the London Eye, took the boat to Greenwich, did the Harry Potter Studios Tour plus went to Windsor Castle and Hampton Court Palace. Also visited Harrod’s where we had dinner and had a meal at Hard Rock Cafe. We try to get to one if a city has it. We also had dinner at a restaurant in Piccadilly Circus. We are big zoo people so went to the London Zoo and also nearby the wax museum. I might have forgotten something.

We will probably try to go back to South Carolina again to visit our son.

And most definitely, we will be heading to Mackinaw City as we do yearly.

Headed to Port Orleans French Quarter for a WDW trip the week after Thanksgiving...We've never been this late in the year before and are looking forward to all the holiday decorations being up!

I was supposed to take a Caribbean cruise in January, 2023, but we canceled because I feel like if I‘m going to get Covid, it will be on a cruise ship. I am just not ready to cruise yet.

Going to Las Vegas in May for a bowling tournament.

Maybe a trip to Northern Michigan in the fall to see the colors.

Nothing else planned, but there will be more. Just not sure where and when yet.

I'm chomping at the bit to plan something, but so far nothing major is in the works. Until I know where DD21 is headed for grad school and how much help she'll need/want with the move, I can't really make plans for past her graduation. So we're going somewhere - either London or New York City - for spring break, just DD14 and I, and the whole family is going to San Francisco for DD21's graduation in May, but beyond that is a total blank.

But I am really looking forward to that May trip, when I'll be driving cross country, solo, to move DD21 home. DH and DD14 can't get away that long so they're flying out and meeting us in SF, but I'm taking two weeks and driving the whole of Route 66 on my own, just me and my Jeep and my tent.

Bucket list land tour of Alaska, rescheduled from 2020.

We did a land tour of Alaska in 2021, the summer without cruise ships, and it was the most beautiful place I've ever seen. University of Fairbanks is on my daughter's grad school short list and I kind of hope that's where she ends up just so I have reason to go back year after year.

Yes Europe next Summer. It really depends on the economic and geopolitical situation. It could get derailed. I spent money and traveled during Covid. It was great the prices were waaaay lower than they are now. We’ll be doing less next year due to cost.
If the euro stays low compared to the dollar that's kind of like a discount.

I don't have any definite plans yet, but we're thinking of two weeks somewhere in Europe in the spring. Back to southern Spain, maybe? The Loire?

2023 for us that are already booked:

Jan - weekend in Saratoga Springs to meet friends from out of state (it’s the halfway point from where we each live)

Feb- week in Disney World!

Aug- week down the cape (Cape Cod)

Oct- weekend in the white mountains NH

I expect there will also be a weekend or two for my kiddos sports tournaments out of state.

We promised the kids a WDW trip this summer but I'm trying to balance planning the trip we want to take with the budget I want to spend. But all that budget talk is for naught, if DCL releases VGT rates for the CC double dip after Easter.

Inflation is worse in Europe then here. A currency collapse would just mean hyperinflation and civil unrest so it would not expect things to be cheaper if that happens

WDW in January, family church camp in August as always. Maybe an early summer weekend at Lake of the Ozarks since DD21 is now living in central Missouri but didn't get to go there with us last year.

Not 2023, but in 2024 we're going to take a cruise instead of going to WDW for our Sisters Trip. The destination isn't firm yet, but I'm going to push for Hawaii I think.

I didn't say if it collapsed. Currently the euro is worth $.97, so things work out a lot better with the exchange rate than they did when it was $1.16 a year ago.

We're going to be there for 10 days! Wish it was longer, but work & all that....

Looking back, we (I) probably overprogrammed our 2018 trip and we're trying to leave some room for shopping and exploration in this one. Some things we definitely want to do:

--British Museum
--British Library Treasures Gallery
--Tower of London
--Westminster Abbey
--Churchill War Rooms
--Borough Market and Camden Market
--West End play
--Day trips to Windsor and Richmond (to see Kew Gardens and some of the sights from Ted Lasso)
--Changing of the guard
--St. Pauls and walking tour of the Square Mile
--Boat trip to Greenwich

A long weekend (4 days) at Old Orchard Beach with a car club, a wedding in LA late April, Disney in July for 7 days and hopefully a trip to Montana to visit our son (maybe late summer or early fall)

We have a week at Jekyll Island booked for June with DH's side of the family and a Carnival Cruise in July with my side of the family. Lots of family time in 2023 it seems, which is fine. I would love to do something over my daughter's fall break with just the 3 of us but we have a lot of other projects at home consuming my funds, so it may not work out :)
