10/1/21 (Planning thread for those w/ Magic Kingdom ressies on the BIG 50th)!

I'm going to be there on 10/1. I would love Disney to come out with a statement that stated that walkways as well as transportation would start at such and such. It creates this frenzy, which to be honest is not needed. I mean whatever floats your boat. I still remember running the initial Disneyland Paris marathon and going early to the merchandise tent (6am). They cm's all looked at me like what the hell are you doing here? But here in America we have been conditioned to say I got to be there. To me it takes that magic out of it.

Yeah, my actual concern is ceremonies and speeches. I really want to see those, and I’m willing to give up my ADRs if they clash. With the cancellation policy, I won’t be able to if they don’t announce anything until the day of.

Historically, they have done anniversary ceremonies in the AM hours. I think if you don’t have an ADR in the AM, you’re probably safe.
But I’m not Chapek, so who knows! 😂

I’m sorry, but that would be ridiculous. The whole point of the reservation system is to have availability up until park capacity is reached, so everyone with a reservation should already be counted. The only question is how park hopping affects things, and people in here have received mixed responses from various cast members. Unfortunately since this is the first day the parks will be hitting capacity since covid, who knows what mixed messaging is going on behind the scenes? I would personally not risk it once park hopping starts (even though our park passes on MDE says park open to close), but I would be absolutely livid if I arrived at say, noon or after a late morning breakfast ADR or whatever, with a park pass and not allowed in.

Totally agree with you. Personally I don’t think the average CM (even at guest services) has any better idea what will happen Friday at 2 pm than we do. And like you said, my park reservation says open to close. We’re in our mid 60s, staying at CR. We’ll be there for opening, have CRT at 1:30. After that we’ll probably head for a break in the room. We’re not big fireworks people but will want to come back to the park for awhile in the evening before dinner at GF at 8. I will be making a fuss if they try denying us re-entry.

So I’m in a Trader Sam’s related FB group, and someone posted they met Disney legend, BOB GURR, at Trader Sam’s at the Poly tonight.

I’m thinking if there’s a ceremony, we might see him Friday. 🤔
That would be awesome! I know he loves to hang around the parks. I sat next to him at the Lion King show at AK in March 2020 right before the shutdown. He was so nice when we chatted and his enthusiasm to thank and cheer for the cast members was incredibly magical. I hope he’s there Friday!

Excited to be bringing my family for a 60-hour whirlwind trip - staying at Poly, checking in tomorrow night. We booked this last year, and up until TODAY, did not know for sure if we would make it - forcing me to play catchup on my planning. So far for us, 2021 has made 2020 look like a cake walk, so I'm very much looking forward to celebrating on Friday with you all. May you all score the very best merch, get showered with pixie dust, see every special moment, and take in the sights, sounds, and wonderment of the day as if it were 1971 again. See you at the castle! Cheers!

Ugh… this forum thread (and especially the last two pages of posts) isn’t helping my planning.

We were at Magic Kingdom yesterday (Monday Sept 27). The plan was to see a couple high-demand rides that will be impossible on Oct 1st.

Well, the park was empty. The longest wait time was 50-minutes (Mine train, Haunted Mansion and Peter Pan). We did everything we wanted to (some things twice) and were out of the park by 3pm.

With those items done and still no official October 1st agenda, I was thinking of showing up late (10am).

But the speculation of giveaways, exclusive items, and being denied entry despite a reservation has me with the “getting in line at 5am” crowd again. Grrrrr…

I am getting so excited now! We fly into Orlando tomorrow evening then are park hopping Thursday with a close out of seeing Harmonious and then MK on Friday! We fly out 11 am Saturday. I told my kids there will be time to sleep on the plane on the way home :rotfl: I booked the park reservation as soon as they opened them. We have gone back and forth so much on this trip on if we should do it or not but I am so psyched to be going.

Watch for the family in our "Living our best Disney life" shirts! We are ready to go!! - woke my kids up for school today singing Great Big Beautiful Tomorrow - that got them fired up too!
