New Contemporary Resort Monorail/Incredibles Room Theme Announced - With Pictures

I mainly don't understand the large orange sofa -I know when our boys were younger and we all shared a room that size, we really needed counter space to put our "stuff from the day" which was usually the top of the dresser - but I don't see one.....

and for being such a large sofa, it's not like you can watch tv from there either - you'll have to sit on the unmade bed (since Mousekeeping didnt come) with your dirty park clothes... :headache:

With that being said -I like the design and colors, even though orange is not my color - and I LOVE the bathroom! I'll never get to stay in one though since CR is not one of DH's favorite resorts....

and I just noticed that there are wall mounted shampoo/conditioner bottles on the shower wall....I know we all have "feelings" about those....

I'm a big fan of CR. My first reaction was shock and extreme dislike. That said, it's kind of growing on me (a little). I get what they were going for (1970s contemporary design) -- and the bathroom is so much improved. If the couch is comfortable, I could maybe be a fan of the changes. For me: time will tell, but my initial reaction was not positive.

Half of you complaining that it's too sterile. Half of you complaining that there's too much IP. They just can't win, can they?
The resort is themed to be modern and sleek. This is a nice updated look with small touches of IP. If they were going for a retro look, then it wouldn't be the "contemporary," now would it?
And those comparing it to the Moana rooms, these rooms look just like them but with different wallpaper and furniture textures.

And yet wallpaper and textures make all the difference, don't they? The Poly rooms look like they cost as much as they do to stay there, but this looks like a bad attempt at Pop/ASM's refurb with a mild Incredibles skin on it. All that grey is already dated. The only positive thing I can say about this besides the big improvement on the sinks is at least it's consistent with the common areas now.

But it's not contemporary and it's not small touches of IP. The Riveria would be small touches of IP.
How is it not contemporary? It looks similar to other new hotel rooms.
And by small touches, I mean it's not like the pirate rooms at CBR or the AoA character rooms.

Maybe it's one of those daybeds that flips down. Not sure why they got rid of the dresser/desk area.

well, the couch looks a little "bendy" which makes me believe it doesn't, and you would think that if the couch transformed into a bed that they would have included that in the pictures??
:confused3

There has to be a daybed somewhere as room occupancy is up to 5.
Maybe the daybed is here (circled in black) which is the non-bendy part of the couch, but you would think that it that part flips out it would be right at the end of the bed, or is my visual-ness (??) off? DH says I have an issue with sizing things...HA

The blank wall where the desk use to be really looks like a downgrade and adds to the "moderate/value" feel.

I'd like to understand where in the world a family of 4-5 are supposed to put all of their stuff. Because that sad little closet with its 4 dinky drawers isn't going to cut it. Isn't there a dresser or something in the room? Perhaps it's not pictured?

I don't get it. The room needs more counter space. Counter space that isn't in the bathroom.

Our room at Pop Century had more storage than this room and Pop Century rooms are smaller than the Contemporary ones are.

I think the lighting being above the bedframe is annoying me

The window design screams 70's

The couch is terrible ( Pete hated a similar couch at grand floridan )

Just feels like your in an airport

Well most of us have 3 night stays here for the 50th. That's enough time to see how you like the new layout and at least the rooms will be new.

The bathroom update is simply amazing. The sinks, counter space, and the cabinet storage is a 1000% improvement.

I do notice the wall mounted dispensers in the bath but also the small individual bottles are on the counter. It also looks like bar soap in the shower nook.

I am NOT a fan. I loved the Contemporary before, but this new color scheme, yuck🤢. I like the Incredibles, but not enough to have my resort room themed this way.

We love the Poly & Beach Club...plus the Grand Floridian is most likely where we will stay on our next trip, but I did look forward to bringing my future grandchildren to the Contemporary. We won't be back now.☹

While it would be easy for Disney to charge people for this sort of behavior, I wonder how long these pillows last before people start thinking they’re a nice souvenir to take home (aka, steal) and Disney replaces them all with generic pillows.

They could do what they do on the cruiseline - if you take the accent pillow on the bed home (ie - it disappears from the room), your card on file is charged for it. And the one on the cruise line is a pretty hefty fee (like about $100). And unlike the cruise line where the stateroom hosts leave the rooms open as people are leaving, the housekeepers at Disney don't typically leave multiple rooms open at a time for people to claim "someone else must have gone in my room".

What are everybody’s thoughts on when this comes to the garden wing? By October 1 or sometime in winter 2022 to keep the contemporary at full strength for the start of the 50th?
