Resort Change by Disney

Before Jambo was un-announced, I had a reservation there and they wanted to move me to Kidani. I pushed on them that we need a resort with QS which is one of the reasons we choose AKL over Kidani for our usual stays, and then we got offered CR, RR, and Poly. I'm sure if you push the QS need, as others have said, they'll be happy to accommodate you. I've been many reports of people moving from FQ to CR, Garden wing so I hope they can do that for you as well!

ETA: To clarify, they did move me to Kidani but then I called back the next day to get the second move.

It sounds like they aren't doing second moves any more. I just called a second time (why not? :D), and I was told again that an accepted offer could not be change as that would be "going backwards." The CM offered to put me in POP with a refund of the difference, but I declined. I think I'm done trying for now, but hey it didn't hurt to ask.

I called yesterday trying to get my hoppers/water parks taken off for our Sept. trip and the GS lady tried but said it wouldn't let her yet. She then told me to tru again Wed. as they've been told Wed. is the next "announcement/change" to what GS will be dealing with. I have no idea what that means, but she told me that like 3 times.

When I called Guest Services yesterday asking about the possibility of moving resorts (which I couldn't do), she proactively saw our 7 day park hoppers and asked if I wanted her to remove the park hopping option and get a refund for it. I didn't have her do it, mostly because our hope/plan is to use the value of those tickets toward AP renewals for 3 of us, and I'm really hoping to use them towards new APs for the 3 of us who either have never had APs (twin 3 yr olds) or whose expired last fall and wasn't renewed (me). However, I also didn't have her do it because it seems like any time Disney changes something, they mess something else up! I wanted to make sure we got our ADRs today without an issue, so I just told her to leave them alone for now.

Probably a good idea—you don’t want to start resenting your vacation because you’ve been so frustrated calling! I definitely feel you on being more upset seeing what others are getting. I saw people on here being moved from POFQ to CR or ASMu suites to 2BR DVC. So when I got moved to FW I was disappointed and it only grew the more and more I saw people getting bigger upgrades.

You’ll probably love the 2BR—it’s a bunch of extra space and honestly a massive upgrade when talking about $$$.

I imagine we will love the 2 BR - we bought into DVC on our Feb trip and will always have to book 2 BRs since we have 6 people. We do fine in a regular resort room, part of why we didn't look into DVC sooner was I didn't want to give up CL and we still fit in a room that slept 5, but I imagine after having a 2 BR a regular room might have been hard to go back to!
That was probably use you saw. We are heading there July 13th, and were moved from an AoA family suite to Riveria 2 bedroom. They offered us Riviera, OKW, and BC. We are a party of 6 with an under 3. Odd that they sent you to SS, they told our TA it was full at the time. Sorry to hear it wasn't as expected, but we are in the same boat. Flying to FL from the other side of the country, so the rising FL cases is still a concern...enough that we have no plans at of leaving the WDW area during our stay. Still even debating going to Disney Springs.

I imagine it was availability - we are in August so it would be different. it still stings to see you got offered 3 choices, and 2 of them were walkable/skyliner, but it is what it is and I'm not privy to their reasons. I really wish I had asked if there were other choices right off the bat, but I was just initially relieved he didn't give us a hard time about not taking 2 pop rooms, and didn't want to seem like I was being greedy since it was a free upgrade. The CM when I called back said they gave out rooms based on where they needed people due to social distancing as well as availability, and I'm sure she's right but I think there can also be other factors - including luck, your CM, and occasionally your preference (I guess that can be qualified as luck also).

I got a second move yesterday—it’s insane how CM dependent these things are. I don’t understand why Disney doesn’t publish a policy and stick to it.

Create your own CL ! With a 2 BR, you will have a full kitchen and you can stock it with all sorts of goodies, tailored to what you like! No lines (ie no germs or social distancing) and readily available!
Think of your favorite items and either bring them or use a grocery delivery service. We live it up in our DVC villas!

Personally I think you lucky if you get a second move, I thought that you had to take what you were given or pay the difference, they have so many families to move Im surprised they would allow any second moves when they need to help so many other ppl.
Yeah, exactly. My situation is different because I was moved to a deluxe from a deluxe, not bumped up to one, and then asked to be moved to another one due to QS not being available. I know that now they're trying to not move people to deluxe resorts for no charge anymore, especially for a second move, but I feel that it wouldn't hurt to ask - maybe just a few hours on hold! - if you're truly not happy with the first resort you were given or if it's lacking something that you need to have.

I was originally at a CBR fifth sleeper. I got moved to FW Cabins last week, but called again yesterday and got moved to a Boardwalk Villas studio (no extra cost).
Nice. I was moved from Gran Destino to a studio at Wilderness lodge. I would like to upgrade to a one bedroom. I'd be willing to pay an reasonable upcharge, but I'm afraid they'll try to charge me the difference between CSR and a one bedroom and that would be huge.

I think if you are super nice, have good reasoning, and get a good CM, you’ll have some luck getting an upgrade. I think you’ll probably have to pay, considering it’s in the same resort, but I’ve seen some people paying to move but paying less than they would have if they were moved from their original resort.

I was able to get a second move on Sunday. I called probably 4 different times on different days, and got different answers each time. The last time I had a super nice CM and he was able to move me. I thought it wasn't going to happen, but saw others getting moved a second time and decided to stick with trying.

I agree. The reason I wanted to change is I have 2 14 year old boys(who will turn 15 on the trip.) They were not crazy about sharing a pull out couch bed, so I asked if there was any availability with 2 actual beds.

Out of curiosity--what were the resorts you were changed to?

I was originally booked at ASSp. Was moved to deluxe studio at Saratoga Springs. Then moved to Contemporary garden wing garden view room. The CM was super nice and started off saying he didn't want to downgrade us to FW cabin, he wanted to find us an upgrade somewhere. I think I just got really, really lucky!

Thank you, thank you, thank you to the lovlies on this thread for all of the great tips and the "magic" phone number! I called once, got through the first time, and was on hold for about 2 minutes before I got a CM. I knew just what to ask for and got moved from standard rooms at ASMo to preferred rooms at POP in under 5 minutes. You folks are the best!

I'll give it a try tomorrow or Thursday. I would try tonight, but I feel like the better CM's work day shift. At least that's been my experience with Disney and other businesses.

It pretty much takes you right to guest services and bypasses the “lower” cast members. You’ll probably get circuits full/busy, but after calling 20ish times you’ll eventually get connected. I’ve called twice and was on hold for maybe 5 minutes each time.

FYI, there are some reports of CMs wondering how we got this number or that we need to go through the normal route, but this seems to be pretty uncommon and I’ve only had great experiences. I feel that they’ll be happy to help, especially that the call volume is a little less than last week.

Wow thank you so much! I got a call from a Guest Services member who told me to call her back, but I only had the main number and had to give up twice! I will give this one a try, I appreciate it! Wish she had given me a better number!
