Resort Change by Disney

I got the exact same response. After talking to her boss, my CM offered to see how much it would cost to move to WL cabin without price protection, and I said no thanks! I know I saw some people here that got WL cabins and then called back and got a better upgrade, so I think it *might* be possible to get moved a second time? I'm just not sure it's worth pushing.

The CM did tell me that the Kidani pool bar reopens for dinner and stays open until 9pm, so it looks like we'll be eating lots of chicken salads and hot dogs. :earboy2:
I know, I did see at least one post where someone was given a FW cabin and called back and was then offered BC or BW. I hate the inconsistency - if you don't have a choice in the price protected moves then actually keep it that way! Because honestly, that made sense to me. If they move you because they kept the resort closed in these unheard of circumstances, and they upgrade you in a move to where they have rooms that fit your party and fit the new social distancing protocols, I can see why you wouldn't have a choice. I can also see if a comparable resort is open you have to go there unless they need to move you due to the previously mentioned issues, which I think is what they are doing, it's just that not many values are open and not many rooms sleep 6. I can understand that and would have just been a little bummed to see someone else get a Riviera 2 BR while we got SS, but would have figured that was where the tetris game put them and they lucked out. But it's still a little disappointing to hear of "better" upgrades in equal circumstances.

Then I remember that they did upgrade us for no charge, and we are lucky to be in a position to even consider going to Disney, and that I should be grateful! Sometimes I have a hard time remembering that and not seeing what we didn't get lol! Because honestly, even though we now have ADRs, park passes, and our room all situated I still don't know if we'll go. It just seems irresponsible (and maybe risky for my family also!) to be traveling so far from home as it is right now- but boy do I want to go! So we'll see how things evolve over the next month.

2 people July 25 - Aug 8. I would still rather be at Kidani with no food than at WL. :-/ So that's where I'm stuck. I'm afraid to call. Has anyone been "downgraded" when calling back? Or do you think Disney would do that?
We are checking in on July 25 as well...hopefully to Jambo!

You can use a food delivery service! If they see enough pizza boxes in the trash and delivery people coming through the gate, maybe they will see how many $$ they are losing.

I also hope they get feedback from the people who checked in after June 22 about QS issues.

Great attitude! You may even end up loving SS, the wide open space and access to DS and multiple pools -- whereas other DVC resorts might end up feeling more crowded.

It looks like it might be possible to get moved a second time?
Another example of someone calling back and being allowed to move (I couldn't quite the actual post about the move, since that was in a quote for this one lol and I wasn't sure where the original post was!). However, I imagine these few reports are quite rare and it's just in the age of social media and the internet that everyone learns about the few exceptions and then wishes they had gotten the same thing!

That's exactly how I feel! Even before we were lucky enough to get upgraded, I was telling myself that even if we had to move to POP and eat granola bars out of a suitcase, I would just be happy to go! :rotfl2: We're from IL, and I'm also worried about the rising numbers in FL. I'm hoping to keep our reservation, park passing, dining reservations, etc., but a lot could happen in a month.

I'm crossing my fingers for both of us that they open QS at Jambo! But good idea about ordering pizza! :-)

Be happy for your upgrade. The studios have toasters, microwaves, and small refrigerators. the set up is really nice. If you are used to QS in the room then the studio set will be perfect for heating up meals and enjoying them in your room.
The issue at Kidani Village is there is not really a QS option. The ususal QS is Mara over in Jambo House and is not currently scheduled to open. Yes the Maji Pool bar will have some QS options for food but not many options at Kidani Village.

Yes Sanaa will be open and have some additional food options but we don't know how that will work out since this it not normally how Sanaa operated in the past.

A few pages back I reported about on our modified reservations as we originally had a split stay between Poly and YC. Last week only could be booked at CR Tower room lake view. The CM tried to get us into BWV or BCV, so we would still have our Epcot resort area, but she couldn't. I've been spending time calling for quite a few days to see if any availability opened up. The one day the CM said to just keep trying because they are doing a lot of cancellations each day. Today I was able to finally get our second half switched to BWV. Now we can walk to 3 parks and will use our car to go to AK. The kids are happy because they like switching resorts. Now on hold to see if we can get a cabana for our pool day.

Would you mind sharing why type of room you received at BWV? Thank you!

We were moved from AOA to SS, and once I started making further plans it really sunk in that we lost the skyliner and now had only busses for transportation. I called the x7866 number and talked to a very friendly CM, but once she saw we had been moved with price protection she told me she couldn’t move me again unless I wanted to pay the difference. She was very sympathetic with losing the skyliner and chatted all about her cancelled riviera plans and how nice the skyliner was, but couldn't/wouldn’t even entertain the possibility of moving us again at no price increase. I wasn’t surprised, it just would have bugged me if I hadn’t tried. I did feel a little bit greedy calling to try to change when I got upgraded from value (although I don’t feel the AOA suites should be called value) to a 2BR deluxe villa. FWIW, it would have been an extra $4500 for me to pay the difference to be at a skyliner resort- she didn’t specify but I think riviera since the BC and BW aren’t technically skyliner resorts (I had mentioned those 3 when I asked her to just price something). However, there’s no worry that they would take away what they already gave you!

Oh no, I’m so sorry! I saw one of your later posts on this thread talking about someone who got a second move from FW to BWV and that was me :( I had success yesterday. I was actually in a similar situation. I was booked at Caribbean Beach and booked it because of the Skyliner. I called yesterday and explained to the agent that I wanted a smaller resort closer to DHS and EP, because I wanted to use the skyliner. She just said she would take a look and offered me BW or BC, no availability at Riviera. She had to put me on hold to get the rate price protected.

I really think it’s luck of the draw as far as CMs go. I don’t think it would hurt calling a second time to see if you have better luck. I think it can really go either way, especially considering our requests were pretty similar. If it doesn’t work, take it as a sign you’re meant to stay at SS. For what it’s worth, I would have taken SS if offered—it’s such a peaceful resort with nice pools and walking to Disney Springs!

Alright! I'll report back on how the call goes! :D Thanks for the encouragement! Here comes hours and hours of hold music! (Last time it was 5!)
Before Jambo was un-announced, I had a reservation there and they wanted to move me to Kidani. I pushed on them that we need a resort with QS which is one of the reasons we choose AKL over Kidani for our usual stays, and then we got offered CR, RR, and Poly. I'm sure if you push the QS need, as others have said, they'll be happy to accommodate you. I've been many reports of people moving from FQ to CR, Garden wing so I hope they can do that for you as well!

ETA: To clarify, they did move me to Kidani but then I called back the next day to get the second move.

I finally moved our reservation today to December in case things lighten up a bit by then. They offered to change my POR reservation to CBR. I asked about hoppers\ waterpark and she recommended we keep them for now. She had no further gossip and believe me I tried to get it out of her.
I called yesterday trying to get my hoppers/water parks taken off for our Sept. trip and the GS lady tried but said it wouldn't let her yet. She then told me to tru again Wed. as they've been told Wed. is the next "announcement/change" to what GS will be dealing with. I have no idea what that means, but she told me that like 3 times.

I was wondering about this, too. I've never stayed at Pop but started to research some of the rooms. I learned that all of the 1960s rooms are preferred, and the 50s and 70s buildings that are closest to the 1960s buildings are also preferred.

There are standard rooms in the 60s, towards the back facing the lake. It's my favorite spot - centrally located and quiet.

My DH and talked about that, but for now at least we're going to just stick with SS. It's not like it's bad, lol, and honestly I think every time I call and don't get that extra bonus after reading about others that did, it just makes me a little disgruntled and annoyed. I kind of wish I didn't know what others got, and then I would have just been thrilled to be upgraded to a 2 BR and not known they gave some people monorail or skyliner resorts. We wouldn't have wanted a cabin at FW, and to be honest I had figured it would end up being SS or maybe OKW, but there was still a little glimmer of hope that they would come back on and say something like "How about a Poly Bungalow" haha. That was sot of why I was reluctant to call - before I called I could hope for something amazing, now I know and it was "only" what was expected :-) . However, I also read a post where they had 6 people and were still told they had to take Pop, so there is that.

Probably a good idea—you don’t want to start resenting your vacation because you’ve been so frustrated calling! I definitely feel you on being more upset seeing what others are getting. I saw people on here being moved from POFQ to CR or ASMu suites to 2BR DVC. So when I got moved to FW I was disappointed and it only grew the more and more I saw people getting bigger upgrades.

You’ll probably love the 2BR—it’s a bunch of extra space and honestly a massive upgrade when talking about $$$.

That was probably use you saw. We are heading there July 13th, and were moved from an AoA family suite to Riveria 2 bedroom. They offered us Riviera, OKW, and BC. We are a party of 6 with an under 3. Odd that they sent you to SS, they told our TA it was full at the time. Sorry to hear it wasn't as expected, but we are in the same boat. Flying to FL from the other side of the country, so the rising FL cases is still a concern...enough that we have no plans at of leaving the WDW area during our stay. Still even debating going to Disney Springs.
