Resort Change by Disney

Not to be picky but this is an issue we address all the time on the Orlando Hotels board. Four Seasons is NOT a Good Neighbor hotel. There are actually tons of Good Neighbor, it only means Disney approved, kind of like AAA approved.

The hotels that are NOT Disney hotels but get the perks are -
- Disney World Official Hotels (Disney Springs & some Bonnet Creek)
- Four Seasons
- Swan Dolphin, which is a weird category on its own
Don’t forget about Shades of Green. They also are not Disney owned but do get the perks.

Coming from NY, I feel we would be in the cancel boat. As of now, they are saying we have to quarantine for 2 weeks before leaving the hotel. I am still holding out hope for a miracle.

As someone from Louisiana who is also actively watching that quarantine order, I think it's supposed to expire on 7/7, and I highly doubt DeSantis would extend it. If you want to come, I don't think that's a hurdle you'll need to worry about. I can certainly understand your fears, though!

The deluxe resorts are to open July 11 when the parks start to open, and we assume more restaurants, for existing reservations. We don't know yet when they will open more rooms for booking - I would assume after they finish figuring out their final decision on what resorts open and how many rooms in each, and they finish making whatever moves they are making.

Where is this information about when the deluxe resorts are opening coming from? Thank you!

We know for sure that all Deluxe are opening in July? When did we find that out?

I asked him again. I cannot speak for what they are doing with Coronado - my friend's resort is/was going to be Caribbean Beach. They are now being moved to a different DVC resort. Just posting about their change that was made by Disney. I am reluctant to get into details of their trip.. it is theirs. Don't mind sharing mine: My family is at AKL Kidani July 11-18 and 2 days ago it was reported the NBA could be staying at AKL as well (we have not been contacted - just stating there could be more than one hotel involved..not just Coronado). Anyway, I was just telling ya'll per the thread title. I assure you we have better things to do than come up with some junk post about moving resorts. I would do that on a vlog with some click bait title. :) Be safe!
We are booked at Caribbean Beach
August 5 -12. How long does the NBA stay? Wonder why they would move your friend if the NBA doesn’t arrive until July 31st?

I thought Yacht wasn’t because they were the only resort that didn’t have food service recalled in the CM picture from the union. No TS or QS employees were on that list. I have a YC reservation so I am really nervous.

Go back a few pages. It is information that was shared from someone inside Disney, not official, and I only shared because I want folks prepared for the possibility so if they get phone calls or have to make decisions they aren't caught off guard ... have all their questions ready etc ready in case contacted by Disney.

Yeah I don't think they went back to read everything before asking.

As discussed back further I think the friend was confused .... all information shared, even NBA reporters yesterday stating that NBA is looking to book CSR. CSR makes the most sense in many ways, especially security.

I think she was talking in the next phase. First DVC and then they will begin opening deluxe resorts to increase onsite guests.

No one knows when they will open beyond DVC.
Those at values and moderates will be moved or canceled, until WDW is ready to open the, back up.

I was told that movement to DVC would be the first thing before we saw any WDW resorts open...but, as things in Florida change, and number of reservations change that plan will change.

It was also a plan that was not defined so it could have been a few days,a few weeks, a few months, or not at all.
The call backs for dining locations at the resorts that has been released is for the opening of the DVC resorts June 22nd. I am not educated on the rules of DVC but I personally would not want to go to Disney and use up my points if the parks are not going to be open. If folks can defer ... does that mean they expect such a low occupancy those first few weeks they are opening only so many restaurants. EX: Poly DVC is open as is Kona. The question is when the hotel portion opens in July will Ohana then open? If you are going during the DVC phase only I would expect the list we saw. IF you go after the parks open, I would expect more restaurants open that phase.

The Disney Gateway Hotels (Flamingo Crossing) and Good Neighbor do not get the perks. Someday maybe Gateway since they bought Disney land to build and Disney controls what they were able to build.

The reason I always correct this is ... sadly too many book Good Neighbor thinking they get perks because a well know website proclaimed they did and it took on a life of it's own. They never have and never will. If you want the special perks DO NOT book Good Neighbor.

DVC rooms open June 22 with reduced restaurants and no parks open.

I'm so confused. I thought I read a while back on this thread that a TA had insider info and e-mailed all of her clients letting them know they would be switched to DVC resorts only and only those resorts would be open for the rest of the year? Now it's being reported that deluxe resorts are opening on July 11 which, I would assume, means some people would be moved to deluxe and not DVC? Maybe Disney is changing plans up as new guidelines come out? I don't know, LOL! I know we are all frustrated, but I can't even imagine what this all looks like on the inside. I would imagine it's quite overwhelming.

I posted last week information shared with me that would occur but never said rest of the year.l.just it was the plan until they open up the values and mods.

But, no mention for the length it would be..but, they were told they would have no choice so if they didn’t like the choice, the only other option was cancel

Now, it’s been posted here this week that deluxe may open closer to park opening and that not all people will be moved, but some might be canceled,

It sounds like the move to DVC is still in the works, but now seems like maybe the deluxe resorts will open mid July.

It was also posted in another thread someone had a friend called today and told they were moving to a DVC and not given a choice. So, it’s been confirmed now to happen to at least one,

So expect that things can change with what happens in Florida but it does seem like we might start hearing more about moves or cancels for July Soon,

My friend said she would let me know when her clients are actually moved and I will report that.

Frustrated and confused here🤪

I'm sorry - I'm reading so much it's all starting to mush together in my mind, LOL! Not having a choice makes total sense. It's not like they have a lot of availability to choose from, especially if they are closing all mods and values. What a feat, really, to try to move everyone and to find rooms to accommodate them in whatever resorts will be open. It's not even a matter of an open room, it's also a matter of fitting certain guest configurations in new rooms - I'm not sure where you put that family of 6, all over 3, when you move them from AoA - maybe that's where the cabins come in? I, personally, wouldn't mind moving from AoA to a 2-bedroom villa, but would there be enough to fit the entire value family suite crowd? I just hope they can accommodate everyone! Anyway - thanks for chiming in with your info! It seems with every passing day we get bits and pieces which may eventually help us fill in the puzzle until Disney actually lets us know what's going on!! :)

No problem. It is hard to keep it all straight. I am going to assume that 2 bedrooms at OKW or SSR might be choices for families of 6, and those do tend to be the ones booking up last for DVC.

I just hope they begin to let people know. Especially those mid to late July...but they may also want to have the info regarding park reservations up first.

Overwhelming probably understatement, I can't imagine.

Personal take:

Disney Parks won't be able to truly open up and operate with just DVC units. That could essentially mean that the only units that Disney might have access to to move guests would be quite small and they'd have to cancel most reservations. Honestly why even open the parks at all if you are only going to have the DVC units open? That wouldn't make sense. I know DVC people who don't even go to the parks.

From my experience even some Disney TAs don't get all the little details of what makes up Disney. They might read it as DVC but maybe they don't differentiate that most DVC are actually at hotels (what 7 are at hotels, 3 are stand alone?).

If they are moving folks they will have to figure out the bigger parties first as to where they fit (which is where DVC might fit in) then once they run out of larger rooms, will some get cancelled?

I think the bigger question now is when will moderates and values open? Will they try to open some in July? to keep reservations or maybe just move folks to a couple, keeping a couple closed? Or go with what is being talked about inside, not yet. We don't know, only that they have to keep park capacity down and that means much reduced hotel occupancy ... so why open them all.

I think if they are opening the DVC in June, all the deluxes attached will open with them in July.

I cannot imagine the logistical nightmare they are dealing with trying to figure out what parties will fit in what rooms, etc. I do not envy the people who have to work on that. I am nervous about our July 25 reservations. We have 3 rooms at ASMo, 2 people per room. One of the rooms are my 21 year old son and my 17 year old daughter. I need 2 beds for them for obvious reasons. I will buy an air mattress if I have to but thinking about the CM who has to look at every reservation to see who would fit in what makes my head spin.

Oof. My husband and I are just now after nearly 4 years of being married able to go on our late honeymoon and first vacation. We were barely able to scrape up to go to All-Star Music and we're super excited for the chance. Honestly, we'll never be able to afford probably any higher than a value resort as teachers, and it would make me so sad if we got canceled instead of moved. My gut tells me that not opening any values or moderates seems extreme, but there is a bias there. I just hope we hear something soon. We're only 51 days away from our trip and I don't know if I should be excited or hopeless. 😬
