Is everything normal in your neck of the woods?

Technically, 2 weeks - OSU is on spring break this week, so students weren't back in classes until the 16th. I assume they're deciding to do a forced 14 day quarantine, assuming that students may be in contact with infected individuals, so March 30th became the new date to resume classes (at least in person).
I'm very close to the ground when it comes to OSU, but yes, this is why I said "for the month" and not "for a month." I think you are right about them wanting to wait out that 14-day period post-spring break travel, and wouldn't be surprised to see it extended another week. Will be interesting to see what the other state schools decide to do in response to the flagship.

I work in a very public building in Downtown Cleveland. There are people wearing masks (have no clue where they got them) and gloves today. My office has not changed anything or even talked about the virus other then a few of us just talking about what the news is saying.

We're not a 'state school', per se (community college), but we've now put a hold on all student travel from today on, cancelling a number of trips to student conferences in DC, a performance in NYC among others.

Also in Columbus, OH, the BWC Safety Congress scheduled for March 11-13 was cancelled. It’s a HUGE event bringing in tons of people from all over the state to receive required safety training and certification. I have attended for years, so now these folks will have to figure out how to get the training elsewhere. So many trickle affects we haven’t even begun to see yet.

I was shocked to hear it too. And, I am not really sure how it helps as other big gatherings are still happening. (Bruins game, for example) The virus is either out there or it isn’t. Seems like it would just incite anger and/or panic. I hadn’t even thought of the marathon!
And now they just cancelled the Paddy Day parade and road race in Holyoke, MA, too. That's the one I've always gone to, so now I'm really bummed. My nephew's best friend is the Colleen this year and has been so excited. I guess the city doesn't want 400,000 people to descend upon it at once.

Well my daughters college just sent a text that school is starting spring break today instead of next week. Also be prepared that it may not resume on time either. Well guess I’m going to pick her up. My son had not heard anything in his college yet. They both attend college in Maryland.

My daughter's school just sent an email telling kids that they need to take home for Spring Break whatever they might need to be at home for a while, and that they are preparing for remote instruction. I have not heard anything from my other daughter's school who is on Spring Break now, but I expect to hear the same thing. Looks like we will have a full house again for a while.

Just a few days ago things were pretty normal across America. Today, things are no longer normal. :(

Ireland here, country approx the size of state of Indiana, population approx 4.8 million. As of 10 March we have 24 confirmed cases, no deaths

  1. St Patricks Day festivals and parades cancelled by Government
  2. Major sporting events such as 6 Nations Rugby Games cancelled
  3. Companys across the country implementing work from home where possible for employees
  4. Major charity national fundraising campaign cancelled
  5. Irish airlines Aer Lingus and Ryanair cancelling all flights to and from Italy
  6. The Irish Association of Funeral Directors advising that any person who dies of coronavirus should be immediately cremated or buried without a funeral service.
  7. Banks preparing to allow their mortgage customers to defer monthly repayments if the coronavirus causes massive economic disruption.
  8. The Department of Employment Affairs and Social Protection are introducing measures to provide income support to people affected by COVID-19 (Coronavirus).
  • the current 6-day waiting period for Illness Benefit will not apply to anyone who has COVID-19 (Coronavirus) or is in medically-required self-isolation
  • the personal rate of Illness Benefit will increase from €203 per week to €305 per week for a maximum of 2 weeks medically-required self-isolation or for the full duration of absence from work following a confirmed diagnosis of COVID-19 (Coronavirus)
  • the normal social insurance requirements for Illness Benefit will be changed or the means test for Supplementary Welfare Allowance will be removed
I'm sure there is alot more but thats what I can think of right now.

Yes another cornovirus thread here on the disboards. Just what we needed. Lol
If you wasn’t on the internet or watch tv or radio would you know anything was going on?

Everything is normal in south jersey.

post where you are from.
Michigan. I think we're corona free still, last I checked.

So, I posted earlier on the thread and so far so good. However, the apartment complex where I live just emailed that they are really cleaning common areas, gym etc.

Haven't heard anything yet from dgd's school or school system addressing any possible changes etc

Yea I am jinxing myself. Lol. Dgd's school system emailed a little bit ago saying that they are also thoroughly disinfecting the schools and to stay home if you have certain symptoms and they are watching how this goes.

A bunch of colleges going to online learning: Harvard, MIT, Amherst, Suffolk... not sure who else. Students are not being allowed to return after spring break! That gives them just a few days to get out.

For the most part, business as usual in Southern Indiana. I work for a hospital, they've been working on their covid 19 plan and I hear about that, but that's no different than our annual flu plans, etc. My daughter goes to college in Ohio. They have cancelled face-to-face classes until the second week of April. She is a senior and has received information that she and one grad student will be allowed to continue their research as only time-sensitive projects will be allowed to continue, but they have to work around each other's schedules in the lab. She will be doing her thesis defense by skype.

We have 7 cases in our state, & they’re no longer releasing where the cases are.
We are in the same state as you...can’t believe they won’t even release the county. It’s not like they are posting names and addresses but a county would be nice to know (though our region doesn’t have a confirmed case I am positive it’s already here)
