https://www.nerdwallet.com/blog/credit-cards/credit-cards-bypass-airport-security/ I have the Navy Federal Flagship card. $49 annual fee, no additional fee for authorized users and all authorized users also get their own credit. My wife and I both got TSA Pre through this and got credit.Which ones do that? Would hate to have missed a perk from one of our cards.
So you have Clear and instead of walking you to the PreCheck line he walked you to the regular line?we flew out of MCO in August, decent security wait of 25-30 minutes, mid day. A guy was behind our family and he came from the clear line, for some reason at that time they were shuffling everyone in the clear line right into the regular TSA line. DH talked to him and he wasn't sure why they were all standing in the regular line. Does anyone know why? Maybe a high security threat we didn't know about. That alone wasn't selling the idea of getting any of these checks if it meant we would be standing in the regular TSA line anyway at any time.
If I have TSA approval and my DH doesn't, can he go through with me or do we both need preapproval? I have heard lots of stories that if the TSA approved person books the flights, then everyone can get through. Is this still the case?
That can still happen at random, just as it does when no one has PreCheck. If his boarding pass does not have PreCheck on it, he can NOT accompany you (since I'm positive he's not under the age of 13, LOL)If I have TSA approval and my DH doesn't, can he go through with me or do we both need preapproval? DH and I have had PreCheck for over 3 years now and not one time has a non-PreCheck approved guest booked on our same reservation also gotten it. So clearly do not count on this
I have had it for a few years now and I swear by it. My oldest just turned 13 and I didn’t hesitate purchasing it for him knowing I will be booking airfare shortly. From application, visiting center to receiving his KTN was a week. My local center is 15 minutes from me so I took next available appointment.
Definitely for us. We fly out of Orlando International up to 12 times per year. Big time saver on that end. Up in Albany, NY though the TSA line seams to be only open part time. I've timed it a couple of times in Orlando as 7 minutes from the time I step out of the Uber/Lyft till I'm stepping out of the tram at the Southwest gates.
You should have no problem getting approval by November. We did the global entry plan and had our interviews on September 25. My wife was approved the next day and mine was approved a few days later. Have already updated our profiles on United as well as on the reservations. At least on United, updating your profile does not automatically update any already made reservations. After many years of relying on the increasingly infrequent TSA-Pre upgrades through Southwest frequent flyer we just broke down and applied for TSA-Pre. Our interview appointment is next week. We had put it off as our ID documents had been buried in a safe deposit box. We had to dig them out this year as both of our drivers licenses were up for renewal and we had to have our ID docs to upgrade to Real-IDs.
I am curious from anyone who has done it recently how long it is taking to get approved?
We are looking forward to enjoying not having to unpack and undress for our next trip in mid November.

We did this because we fly a lot from Newark to Orlando and economy security in both airports is bad but also planning some international travel now that we are both retired.
Global Entry is a completely different process from TSA-Pre. I got my Pre in April, about a week after my appointment. After many years of relying on the increasingly infrequent TSA-Pre upgrades through Southwest frequent flyer we just broke down and applied for TSA-Pre. I just had my appointment for pre-check on 10/2. I received notice yesterday (10/5) that I was approved. OK... thanks! A week is fine. I was worried that it was weeks not days.
