The Disney Wish, what are you wishing for?

Our kids are grown, but my DH and I still love Disney cruises. I would LOVE the adult pool that is on the Magic and Wonder, to come to the new ships. It is wider, bigger and more spacious. I don't care about seats inside the pool like the Dream has, I just want lots of room to swim around. And, most important, have them open 24 hours a day!! Do not care about whether its lifeguarded, I am a night owl and want something to do late at night.

I thought it was crazy what RCCL did with the island as far as charging but then I was speaking with an officer onboard a Royal cruise and he mentioned the reason is they didn't want everything to have an hour wait to get to use it. If they offered some options as an upcharge it would control the crowds. Still plenty which is included.
I'm not certain that theory holds water....by having more attractions, you are naturally diluting the crowds. Upcharging b y itself doesn't control the crowds, it just makes the PREMIUM attractions less crowded by being potentially out of reach (financially) for some. Other, non-upcharge attractions could still have long waits.

As long as we were wishing... how about a 5 night Wish Triple Dip?! Two days at the new island and a day at CC in the middle.

I would not be at all surprised if they do this at some point although it could be CC,LP,CC instead. You can expect that one to sell out during the platinum window for major $$$$$$$.

There will probably also be some double dips of LPx2 and CC,LP. Again for $$$$.

I wish for a Disney Quest-type area like someone mentioned. My tween would really enjoy that. I wouldn't even mind if there was some kind of upcharge for it, like an arcade, or if you had to make reservations like some of the sportsdeck things. The idea of a questing game like Great Wolf's MagiQuest would also be fun. The nice thing with that is that you can use your wand multiple times and it saves where you were in the game, so repeat cruisers can keep playing without losing where they were. I've seen some ships with things like ice skating and rock climbing, which could be neat. Maybe a room for laser tag? Having a 13 year old, I'm all about activities for her since she is beyond princesses at the moment and Disney is a bit lacking in stuff for the over 12 crowd.

I wish that Disney maintains its class and doesn’t lower itself to copying things you can do on land like other lines have succumbed to doing. Disney is different for a reason and those of us who love that more classic cruising feel pretty much only have Disney based out of the US. Those who want stuff they can easily do on land have multiple choices (Carnival, RCCL, NCL...).

Wish the prices on all the cruises were more in line with most of the other cruise lines. The expense keeps us from doing another Disney cruise.

They actually sadly seem to be these days. I thought there was a big price increase between the same 6-night cruise out of Galveston same week in December 2019 to 2020 and there is, but I can't find a better price for family of 4 on Royal Caribbean or Carnival for equivalently sized room.

Different characters, unique to the ship, at the meet and greets - could encourage folks to try all of the ships (somewhat have this with Fantasy / Dream [thought haven't been on Dream so assuming] having more options than Magic / Wonder).

Agree with other posters that could almost do some of what's on the shore excursions on the ship - make chocolate bars in shape of characters, learn to animate / build own video game (older kids items to adults), paint figures, etc. If there was an adult Disney art auction, I'd probably spend some $$.

Some of the wows that Royal Caribbean and Carnival have on the pool decks others have mentioned - zip lines, bigger pools, water show, etc.

Simulator ride - build it in such a way to easily change between movies. Star Wars ride in parks is fun!

Cabanas dinner buffet.
Maybe free up a ship to visit the Panama Canal and return rather than complete transit from east to west or west to east. I would like to leave from the east coast and return to the east coast so I can spend a few days at WDW after the cruise.

We all will get old some day or hope we will live that long. DCL needs to do more for older guests. Like the tub in the staterooms good for kids but not for older guests. They could have some rooms with and some rooms without a tub.

Would love some rooms without tubs. Hate the tubs, they are so hard to get in and out of; would much prefer a nice shower. Also love the idea of twin beds that can separate or join together to form a king bed.

What do you want or not want on the new Disney Wish?

WANT
-More 18+ entertainment
-A Bahamas itinerary including their new "private island" (I know it's only part of an island) and/or A Castaway Cay/New Island itinerary
-Affordable specialty dining (40$ or less)
-(For my solo friends) Solo cabins!

NOT WANT
-Higher prices
-The same boring Bahamian itinerary
-DCL jacking up the price for a "double dip/two DCL islands itinerary
-People soup

You mean roller coasters, etc?

I hope it isn't choked full of up charge and class exclusive areas... That is what really turns me off from some of the other lines. While things like laser tag, go karts, etc. don't bother me that they are on the ship - they do take up valuable deck space for lounging or other "free" amenities. I also don't need to hear or smell things like go karts - or the clicking of dragging a coaster up a hill...

Certain lines have this deck space is reserved for this room class, that deck space is reserved for that room class, over here is deck space you can go to if you purchase a day pass for $---... Nothing interested in walking around on deck past a hierarchy of things I cannot do or afford even though I spent a couple thousand to take my family on a cruise in the first place.

The things on lower decks, like up charge restaurants, don't bother me as much. But the premium, outdoor deck space, where at times is already difficult to find chairs, is being more steadily taken up by up charge areas, and category specific areas. Disney is not innocent here either as the Concierge Sun-Deck is class exclusive, I just hope it doesn't expand or start to include more classes.

And please, please no more shopping centers... Tiffany is already silly to me. But again their trinkets are so far out of my price range that I'd never think to shop there anyway. I am not interested in shopping on vacation other than maybe a Disney Shirt or something from their stores. We don't need a Coach bag or Gucci sunglasses while we cruise.

But to each their own, I am sure plenty of people who can afford much more than me are happy to have exclusive areas that aren't people soup.

An interesting perspective

our family is the opposite on this - we would’ve really loved some premium options on the ship for guests paying for premium cabins. A premium area with a pool, hot tub, some nicer lounge chairs and resort style pool side service would be fantastic and we’d absolutely be happy to pay a premium for this

I’d like to see some an up charge breakfast/brunch location too- going to Cabanas was fine but one morning our breakfast was ruined by another family (i won’t go into details but what they were allowing their son to do in public was disgusting) - outside of going to the MDR, which we wanted to keep just for dinners, we had limited options and would’ve really enjoyed a premium breakfast experience

reality is - without adding up charge or class specific areas, it keeps everything open to every guest, which while the socialists in the room would no doubt applaud the inclusiveness of this, I personally would prefer an opportunity to be able to spend a little more to enhance my family vacation

Adding to my wish.

No ship-within-a-ship class system. Concierge is fine as-is - perhaps a section of sundeck could face the ocean. But the whole “better than thou” Haven system with butlers is obnoxious IMO.

And that's why cruise lines will continue to do different things. We all have different wants and needs on vacation.
