The Disney Wish, what are you wishing for?

Concierge seating for the shows. One of the biggest perks for me sailing concierge is taking advantage of the lounge after dinner (getting a drink, dessert or popcorn) however that also means that we are running into the shows last minute getting whatever seating is left and trying to figure it all out before the show starts. I would love to know exactly where we could go for good seating for the show without too much stress!

An interesting perspective

our family is the opposite on this - we would’ve really loved some premium options on the ship for guests paying for premium cabins. A premium area with a pool, hot tub, some nicer lounge chairs and resort style pool side service would be fantastic and we’d absolutely be happy to pay a premium for this

I’d like to see some an up charge breakfast/brunch location too- going to Cabanas was fine but one morning our breakfast was ruined by another family (i won’t go into details but what they were allowing their son to do in public was disgusting) - outside of going to the MDR, which we wanted to keep just for dinners, we had limited options and would’ve really enjoyed a premium breakfast experience

reality is - without adding up charge or class specific areas, it keeps everything open to every guest, which while the socialists in the room would no doubt applaud the inclusiveness of this, I personally would prefer an opportunity to be able to spend a little more to enhance my family vacation

Some of the worst behaved children I have ever seen, accompanied by parents who are "on vacation" themselves so they don't parent, have been in various concierge lounges around the world, including Disney resorts. If you think you can avoid the screaming, badly behaved kids and loud, obnoxious adults just by booking a concierge cabin, I'd say good luck with that one. I'm speaking from experience here. Dare I mention the two little girls I saw licking drinks off the carpet in the lounge at the GCH while their parents sat there drinking and ignoring them?

And I really hope Disney doesn't turn the ships into a 2-class system, because if they do I'm jumping ship and will start booking with Viking. I like nice things, too, but I don't need to feel like they are exclusive.

I hope that they keep the technology us cruisers need to use to a minimum. I will never have my phone on during a cruise, and my ipad mini is cumbersome to carry around all the time just so I can have the Navigator with me. I would also be worried about it walking off while we are swimming. When we were on the Celebrity Edge, their app not only allowed you to view the daily, but to control the room functions. We tried it once but found it to be not as useful as the paper sheet. We always highlight the activities we want to do on the sheet.

If DCL does this already thumbs up to them, but the daily sheets should be available in the apps in a pdf view that would allow you to view the whole sheet at once.

Also I am totally fine with concierge/suites and giving them there own area. The only thing I hope they don't do is make the mistake of giving them the only forward facing or aft facing views like they did on the Edge. That was somewhat disappointing, but some other things did offset that, magic carpet, that DCL wouldn't be able to do.

Adding more up charge dinner options that allow kids in as well would be great. We would still do the mdrs only, but I am guessing with more people using the new options, it would keep the sound level down in the mdrs. The mdrs should also be designed to minimize noise. The rooms being so open can make it almost impossible for me to have a conversation across the table when the dining room is full. It would be nice to be able to have a conversation over dinner and discuss the highlights of the day. Perhaps some walls or spacing the tables further apart?

I do like the water slides, especially the Aquadunk on the Magic. Even though I am middle aged I love water slides and will maybe go on them way too much;) I agree with many that the adult pool on the classics should be brought to the Wish, and possibly supersize it a bit. The main pool on the Edge was I believe 25 M and it was amazing, not sure if something like that would work for DCL since they like to cover the pool and use it as deck space.

Lastly a nice solarium area. The three non DCL ships we have been on do this very well. The areas are very nice and peaceful, hopefully DCL can work in something like this and figure out a better flow so that kids don't need to walk through to get to places.

I would LOVE a Frozen themed dining room :D Coco would be great as well.

Okay, crazy dream here but it would be awesome if we were the first couple married on the ship. That would only happen if the inaugural was the end of January (and no one married on it) and the second sailing would be the first weekend of February.
Realistically, we could possibly be one of the first 10 couples, though ... or 5.

I second the Coco-themed dining room!!!

Cheaper fares( never gonna happen) different ports. I would love to see a Bermuda cruise. More/different activities that appeal to older teens and young adults

Trying to actually think about what I'd like to see them do that they might actually do in the real world.

More things for older kids. Not over the top like the roller coasters and that weird bicycle thing that keeps breaking down on Carnival, but one or two other attractions similar to the Aquaduck (which can be enjoyed by younger kids too). A couple of larger slides usable by adults would do the trick nicely. We love the classic feeling of DCL's ships and a more classy atmosphere, but our daughter is a thrill seeker and at 9 is already looking at pictures of RLC and Carnival's water slides.

More family inside activities like the Detective Agency. This one is hard. A lot of the other lines have larger internal areas for skating, lasertag (SW or Marvel themed laser tag could be fun), and the ship is larger with the same passenger numbers, but many of these activities seem to be one timed ticket reserved in advance and IMHO kind of a waste of space. The detective agency, to me, is brilliant because it uses existing public space, and anyone can do it. If I had any good ideas on what it should be, I guess I'd work for Disney, but more of something similar would be great.

At least one unique restaurant with its own menu and preferably a show. In other words, what they already have on the Magic and Wonder at Rapunzel's and Tiana's. This might be difficult with the increased numbers in the larger ships, but we thought it was one of the things that really stood out about the Magic over the Fantasy--the two ships we've been on. More options for smaller tables, which I think is pretty much guaranteed. I'd love to see four restaurants on whatever ship they have designated for longer cruises to make dining a little quieter, but I'm pretty sure that's not practical, and it's definitely not practical for whatever ship does the 3/4 day rotation the Dream is on now.

I was wondering what that one thing they will add to the new ships that no other cruise line has. Sort of like when they added the Aqua Duck to the Dream and Fantasy. Any thoughts on that?

Maybe a 3 or 4d movie theater? Movie theaters seem to be a want for many and our missed on other lines, so taking the next step would be cool.

The problem is with all the crazy stuff done on cruise ships nowadays, ice skating, bumper cars, crazy water slides, go karts, etc there isn’t a lot new left, especially that would fit with the minimalist look DCL goes for. My guess is it will just be a lot of tech stuff.

Maybe they will add a rotational upcharge dining package where you can keep the same servers and try all the new upcharge dining venues.

A miracle would still be a truly kid free and enforced area for adults. My guess is they won’t stray too far from what made them popular. They should look at Celebrity and the Edge. A lot of long time Celebrity cruisers don’t like the left turn Celebrity made, if DCL makes huge changes with the Wish they could have a similar issue.

Really hope they add a drinking package like other lines too.

Please, Nooooooooooooo.

I guess why not? Celebrity’s casinos are smoke free. If some people like to gamble and DCL makes more profit, in theory holding or even dropping prices, who does it hurt? Some families may sail DCL just for their kids and not be all into Disney themselves so this would be something extra for them to do. If it is put in an out of the way spot people may never see it. Also you and others like us can choose not to go there.

I do believe that for certain markets this is a must, so not sure if they would add it because of that.

Interested to see what it ultimately is, may lure us back for a cruise.

Here are some I'd like, off the top of my head. I'm trying to focus on things about the ship itself, rather than policies and such (e.g. open the gym 24 hours).
- Hidden mickeys - the more the better. My kids have loved searching for these (we bought a book of them at one point, but they don't seem to sell it onboard anymore). This is, in a way, an "easy" thing to add in.
- Return of arcades. Evidently these weren't generating enough money (which I guess is why they took them out of the old ships), but we enjoyed them...
- Along those lines, maybe put a high-end VR family-type game (I'm thinking like the Pirates of the Caribbean game from Disney Quest) in somewhere? Probably too much square footage and labor cost to keep this going, but it would be a great activity, good for any age range.
- More interactive "ambient" games, like Midship Detective Agency. If they go to some sort of band/medallion that people have with them, things could happen automatically as you move around the ship. You could (if you so chose) play some sort of game - either for a period of time (like MDA) or something that develops over the whole cruise. Or, have some sort of "haunted" hallway on the ship, where things "happen" for the person going through them.
- Make the adult areas of the top deck more separated from the rest. With the location of elevators in the newer ships at least, there's no way to use the elevator at the top deck without going through the adult area.
- Adult areas that would support something like a cooking class (not just a demo - an actual class), or painting class, or something like that. Or, pretty much any adult activity area that's not a bar/club.

A place where my special needs child who is 11 and not potty trained can go perferably with my 14 year old as well. I know right now they could go to the tween age group together but once my older one has a birthday they are seperated. Due to not being able to communicate needs but my older one being well atuned into sensing things with her sister like starting to get uncomfortable with the number of people in a room or someone getting too close to her she can run interferance in places where I can not be such as the kids areas outside of an open house. Oh and the reason my special needs child is not potty trained is she doesn't have the muscle tone to feel that she needs to go. Even if they had to page me to come change her when needed it would be nice to have an area for special needs kids and their siblings that has some of the things from the kids clubs, tween clubs, and teen clubs so that they can use what works for them or even what they feel like that day. For example my girl loves computers and is good at them but she also loves to be read to especially a Minnie Mouse book though she also likes the older style stories like Bambi that I am guessing came out in the original print around the same time as the movie was originally released.
Connecting rooms at a lower price point so that we could travel with the grandparents and have a connecting room. This way DH and I could go out and enjoy an evening while our older one has a chance to go be with others her age and the grandparents could be in their room with the connecting door open and our younger child put down for the night without having to spend a lot for the room.
Showers in the room along with the tub for those who have a hard time getting in but don't need a full handicapped room or even for those who do but who have small children. That way they can give their toddler or preschooler a bath even though one parent needs a room that is wheel chair accessible.
Larger split baths for those of use who are Pooh sized so we can get in and use the facilities easy enough without feeling cramped. A sink outside the bathroom itself so that parents can more easily supervise things like washing hands for smaller ones without having to be in the bathroom with them or ones that are fasinated by hand washing (hmm wouldn't know who that is couldn't be my youngest who refuses to plant a seed in the ground or in a container because her hands might get dirty but who would wash her hands for hours if we let her-we don't since we have to haul our water) or teeth brushing so that they just don't run the water and when you ask did you brush your teeth go yes when they haven't (or are mine the only kids who have pulled this for various reasons).
Sound machines in the room so that you can go to sleep to the sounds you like be it a babbling brook, rain fall, or birds chirping or even a thunderstorm.
