The Disney Wish, what are you wishing for?

Interesting/new itineraries
Bigger and MORE pools
Nice (upcharge is fine) restaurant where older kids (10+?) are welcome
Dinner buffet
Shows that change more frequently than they currently do (or don't!) - and more that are based on Disney movies (not the corny ones)
Live music by the pool
Free and better Wifi
My daughter would like a rock-climbing wall :-)
Changing the "level" gifts in the stateroom every 6 months
Walk-in Shower
PAPER Navigator delivered every night
Better/more family activities (even along the lines of Midship Det Agy)
That the Wish homeports out of NYC all year long! :-)

Others have already said these things but I very much agree...
-More activities for the 13-16 year olds outside of Edge/Vibe (and even inside Edge/Vibe...it’s more of a hangout space rather than organized activities and the more introverted crowd prefer organized activities). My kids find Edge to be very, very lacking.
-A designated area for 18-20 (actually, 18-25ish really...the very young adult group) with activities and shows just for them. My daughter just did her first cruise as an 18 year old and while she had fun and hung out with her age group, was disappointed in what was organized (or not organized) for them. And even though they could join in the adult activities, she said that it felt awkward and not as fun hanging with mostly 40+ year olds (basically a room full of parents when they want to feel like independent, young adults).
-More programs geared towards adults - not necessarily adults only, but maybe older child/adult oriented activities (actual cooking classes, laser tag, escape room, virtual reality, painting/art class, etc... )
- Anytime activities around the ship, similar to (but NOT the same as) Mid-Ship Detective. While I could not care less in regards to a casino or not, at least it’s something to do when there is nothing of interest going on; if no casino then something else to fill time gaps.

My family loves Disney cruises for the service we receive and the beauty of the ships, but after 6 cruises and our kids growing older they are feeling a bit stale. Same activities, same shows, same speels, same trivia questions, same music, etc.. It just feels like they need to mix things up a bit- I guess some of my wishes aren’t just for the new ship, it’s for Disney cruises in general.

Some additional activities on the pool deck so the line can appeal to older kids/tweens.

Bigger pools.
Agree 100%. We just got off the Fantasy last week. We also did the Oasis in June. I have. 13 and 14 year old. Disney ships lacks completly for this age group. Sure they preferred Edge/Vibe to RCCLs clubs but Disney’s pooldeck offers nothing. One can only do the aquaduck so many times. On the Oasis you could actually use the pools, never crowded. On the fantasy the pool deck was mayhem of kids under 10 running around and “kids soup” granted this is DCL’s main demographic. I fear my kids have outgrown DCL.

Changing adult areas to include 13 plus. I cannot see how my 13-14 children would be any nuisance in satellite Falls, or in Palo or Remy. It must be an Disney thing because it’s only line where I see this ( dining -correct if wrong) .. I can see how loud and screaming toddlers would be annoying but My 14-year-old son would have loved satellite falls and my foodie DD, 13, would have looved Palo ( and yes she has better table manners than most adults ) I don’t understand how they are be considered a nuisance to adults also lounging/ eating. I know many will disagree but having an adult only just for the principle of being adult only is a bit odd in my opinion.I understand adult areas should be more quiet and relaxing but in my opinion the loud drunk adult conversations of subtle brags “what do YOU now do? “ are more annoying. This is also where the pool deck totally lacks for this age group either you have an area that they cannot go to because you’re not 18 or the force be in the area of screaming small kids on the main pool deck. On the fantasy they totally changed it for this age group. My son was upset that they removed for example the hot tub and replaced it with the water splash area ( dream still has it) . There is no area on the ship unless your concierge for any teenagers to use a hot tub. The oasis had to two at least!

I can say what I hope they do not introduce on the new ships, nickel and diming as they now do at WDW With all these extra added things but reducing what we are now getting for free. For example right now at WDW you have less normal park hours due to all those extra morning and evening party events. The day that starts happening on DCL is the day that we no longer sail with them!!

I’m talking for example maybe reducing the amount of deck space for the pirate party by introducing a VIP pirate night deck party package.

Or reducing the normal character meet and greet times And creating some other “magicall or special event with extra fees.

Just because you have well mannered kids doesn't mean that there aren't parents who leave little Johnny and Suzie to do what they want all day long unsupervised who get into typical age appropriate mischief. I'd be more ok if the teens had to be accompanied by and adult than just let them go to satellite falls. A pack of 5-6 13 year old kids without adult supervision can be a very different outcome than those with their parents next to them.

Agree 100%. When I was using my kids as an example, of course that was with me joining them. I wasn’t clear on that. Though I can argue a group of 18 year olds drinking ( does happen) could yield the same results.

Some of the WORST behavior I have seen at WDW and on DCL has been in that age range, with or without parents present, it makes no difference.
I think the problem here is (1) how does a CM enforce that parents have to supervise tweens and teens if allowed (e.g., is parent "supervising" their child if they are lying on a deck chair reading and sipping a pina colada while their teens/tweens run around knocking into people and cannonballing into the pool and having splash fights); and (2) since kids do not have ID, if you say 13, then that becomes parents bringing in 12 and unders because it is "close enough" and the CMs can't tell the difference.

Most cruises have adult only areas. Would you be okay with your teenagers overhearing adult conversations? People aren't going to want to watch what they say because kids are around. I don't think pools or clubs should be changed from being adult only. I do think there should be an upcharge restaurant that allows kids in it. I know when I was a kid I had a sophisticated palate and would have loved Palo and Remy. They could also add it to existing restaurants by having a certain time earlier in the night where kids are allowed and then it becomes adult only.

I do agree with this. Pools are a shared space while at restaurants people have their own table and are sitting down and don’t really have an opportunity to be rowdy so I don’t think most people would even notice if there were teens at another table versus adults.

Make the new ship 100 percent non-smoking!

I think DCL would totally do this if they thought there'd be no net loss of bookings/revenue.

I wonder how many people would cancel if DCL enacted such a policy vs. going cold turkey for the cruise vs. trying to be sneaky and smoke on the balconies.

I've never smelled smoke or seen any hint of it on either of our cruises. Is this really an issue?

It would certainly be easier to catch those who do. My guess is there are many who go unreported because people are not sure if it is from a balcony or drifting from a designated area. (I’m obviously not referring to the idiots who hang over their balcony and think they won’t be seen - and smelled.) If there are no designated areas and you smell it, you know it is not from a legal area.

No. DCL only has a couple of small sections where people can smoke and is located in certain ways that the smoke doesn't affect others.

The group used to be 18-21, but was dropped back to 20 due to the ability of the 21 year olds being able to purchase alcohol.

Whether there are activities arranged for the group depends entirely on the group. If no one shows up the first night to make plans, the CM assigned to facilitate the group has no idea what activities they want to do.

Our, then, 18 year old had a great time on his first cruise with the group. They "hung out" every day, and had games, veggie car races, created a video - those are the things he told us about.
