Official 2019 Star Wars Rival Run Weekend

:tiptoe:Hello to all of you runners! I think its wonderful! Maybe one day I'll be a runner! My question is what do you do after the half marathon on Sunday? I see the course ends in the Epcot parking lot. I'm sure you are exhausted! But, do you plan to visit Epcot Sunday (or part of the day) after the race? The reason I ask is because we have to opportunity to visit Epcot either Sunday or Monday & thought we'd visit on the least crowded day. Maybe everyone rests Sunday & then hits the parks again on Monday? Your advice/sharing of plans is appreciated. :thanks: I wish you all the best!

I'm heading into Epcot right after the half. I'm not planning on giving it my all because of the heat so I'm not planning on being exhausted. DH will meet me at Epcot at park opening and bring me a change of clothes and we will hit a few rides in the mornign. I have a lunchtime reservation in Mexico. Then we have FPs in Animal Kingdom later in the afternoon into evening. That's a sample of 1 but that's my plan. For other races I've popped into Epcot afterward to get lunch too.

I'm planning to go back to my room and get a shower, then go meet my family at Animal Kingdom, where we have a FoP fastpass that afternoon and a Rivers of Light one that evening. I probably won't be moving terribly fast, but I will be moving. Primary goal will be to get an updated version of my avatar photo.

I suspect Epcot will be busier on Sunday than Monday.

For those that ran last year, did they hand out wet sponges at some point on the course? The biggest mistake I made during the marathon in January was tossing the sponge shortly after using it. I was going to bring one of those dri-towels if not. I’m not a huge fan of running in the heat so I’m just trying to be prepared.
They have not previously handed out spongers during the race. At the end of the race, you will get a wet cool towel.

My mom and I are going to whispering canyon for a post race breakfast tradition, then we are going to MK. I don’t have Epcot planned at all for race weekend

We're going to Epcot on Friday. On Sunday, we'll head to AK for just a little bit and then we drive home because our Spring Break is over.

I go back to my resort, clean up, and head out to the parks in time for lunch! I usually go to the Magic Kingdom after the race Sunday, and then I park hop to Epcot for the end of the day. My legs recover more quickly from the race if I keep moving for the full day. I’ll be at Disney in the parks for a few days post-race as well.

Hope you have fun at Epcot! You will see all of us wearing our medals around the parks!

I’m not really complaining, just talking out loud to some extent, but could the 10k course be any more boring? Those first 4 miles are just a re-do of one of the ‘worst’ parts of the Princess Half.

Oh well, at least World Drive is nice and wide. Will just turn up the headphones and charge on I guess! :-)

I hope they will have more entertainment out along there like they did for the 10K 2 years ago. It was greatly reduced in that area last year but where many of the 501st were in DHS so perhaps they'll be along World Drive this year.

I'm planning on trying to actually run the 10k so nice, wide roads for the first 4 miles or so are fine with me! Like @KAT4DISNEY I'm hoping they spruce it up a bit with entertainment, maybe a fancy light & sound show, and some photo ops along that stretch. We are really getting there now! 2 more weekends of training after this one!

OK Everybody let's build excitement a little: What's the one (or more than one) character stop you would just find irresistible? No matter how long the line you would have to stop. Even if you were in danger of being swept. For me, maybe Maz Kanata? Or if they had an amazing Leia look-alike.

I have not been able to train like I hoped. Training for the wine and dine was easier because i trained over the summer and fall. I have a hard time running on a treadmill in the winter.

Does anyone know what mile markers that they pull people from the course? Also, how much time do you estimate between the start of each corral?

I’ve never done any of the Star Wars races so I would love to stop at the Hoth monster spot where you look like you are upside down reaching for the lightsaber!

My husband has apparently decided to not do the 10k now. I’m disappointed because us doing the 10k together was part of the reason for a kid free trip plus I was looking forward to having someone to run with. Trying to play Pollyanna and instead looking forward to hopefully stopping for more characters since I will be able to run faster since he will be back at the hotel.

I'm hoping for that one too.

Boo sorry about the hubby's decision. I'd be disappointed too if my DH backed out. I'd probably drop dead of a heart attack first if mine ever decided to sign up to begin with! But just think what your race experience would be if he had really wanted to drop out but grudgingly went along. Better for him not to do it if he really doesn't want to.

Please help!! I have just printed our waivers, my own and my two daughters, and on my eldest daughter’s Mile waiver I have realised that I’ve put the wrong date of birth so it says that she will be 5 on race day instead of 9!!! The day and month is right but I’ve put my youngest daughter’s year of birth instead, I blame the stress of trying to register everyone as quick as possible!!!! Anyway, what is the best course of action now to rectify this? TIA xx

Wampa cave!!!

That photo op is the whole reason I submitted a POT!

I’m also hoping Jabba’s Palace makes an appearance.
