A "Common object" you don't have in your home

:lmao:ronandannette, don't take it personally. I'd probably have the same reaction too, if I could, as I hate to iron. And it definitely wouldn't be personal. :lmao:Unfortunately I DO need an iron & a board for SOME clothes. Steaming does NOT take out all the wrinkles in some really heavy fabrics. I've actually been thinking of getting a Rowenta iron with a good steam feature. :duck:
 Doesn't matter to me if anybody irons or not. It just struck me as weird as the poster seemed to imply I'd called her out or something. :confused3

Interesting question though - do young people today have "stereos" like we did? Our DS grew up listening to music through his earbuds. I'm not even sure what kind of music he's into. Long gone are the days teenagers used to blare their record players, I suppose.

Now, they can hook up their iPods/MP3 players to BOSE speakers or Beats audio speakers about the size of a patio brick. The more expensive ones have really excellent sound quality and are really loud. Not sure if one is supposed to get two of them though, for a "stereo" effect. :confused3

We recently got a Chromecast, so I suppose we could do that too now. But honestly, we really never listen to music at home. We might put it on occasionally as background when guests are over and that's when we were using the computer. The sound quality would probably make an audiophile shudder.

My kids have portable Bose bluetooth speakers.

We never had a toaster until two weeks ago when I bought one. We have been using toaster ovens for YEARS, but I wanted my kids to be able to make their own breakfast without burning themselves , so finally got a toaster.

We don't have a landline phone either.
My DS has a scar right above his outer wrist from the toaster oven. He'd used it dozens and dozens of times before that but after became pretty gun shy. I found these and he's back to using it with confidence. Heck, I've found myself using them. They have a little hook to pull the rack out and then you use them to pick up your toast/pastry.

I am an unabashed gadget junkie. I honestly can't think of anything I don't have that's listed here. A teapot? But my coffee maker is hooked up to the RO and I have hot water on demand. A Kuerig? We are simple coffee folk and drink coffee by the pot. That same coffee pot has a single cup function though and the option to buy an adapter to do the little cups. I thought I had hit upon one when someone mentioned formal silver but I technically do own some. Somewhere. The KitchenAid doesn't belong to me but it's in my cabinet. A functioning laptop. I haven't used one in over a year. DH and older DD have them though.

The son that is afraid of the toaster oven won't put his hands anywhere near anything that radiates heat. He is the one who needs to learn more meal making independence. He has autism and some fine motor clumsiness so the (cool touch exterior) toaster (using toaster tongs) has been great!

The toaster oven we have already auto pulls out the rack when you open the door.

Okay - the Tupperware thing...HOW IS THAT POSSIBLE?!?!?!?!

I may be totally the opposite of Annette when it comes to music and ironing, but I have exaclty one tupperware style container---it get used to haul snacks to girl scout meetings. I'm pretty good at cooking the right amount, and i prefer to use glass jars to store anything extra I do need to keep.

Wow. I've read through this entire thread and there isn't one common thing mentioned that I don't have. We don't have an Insta-pot or a rice cooker, but I don't know that those are truly "common" anyway. This thread just shows me that I have way too much stuff!

No toaster and no regular coffeemaker.

I just broil toast in the oven (not that we eat it that often)

My DH and I don't drink coffee. I used to feel bad when guests came over. My MIL bought me a Keurig, so that works well for tea and hot cocoa (but we don't even use the pods unless guests are over, just an expensive way to boil water-LOL)

Toaster oven, we used to have one of those, but just don't use it enough to justify (we just use the oven)

I would say a rice cooker is pretty common. Most people I know have one. An Instant Pot not so much but they are gaining popularity. It was the most sold item on Amazon Prime Day.

Is a rice cooker truly common? Maybe it is culturally or regionally popular? I don't know anyone who has one. I can't imagine why I would need one. I never even knew they existed until about a year ago.

Everyone I know has a rice cooker. Now - I grew up in Louisiana (lots of rice grown there) and know lots of Asians (again - lots of rice).

Speaking of rice cookers, will someone please explain the benefits of having one? My DH and I have had probably half a dozen people randomly suggest we get one in the past several months. I cook rice a couple times a week but it's the kind of thing that is already so easy -- pot of water and rice -- that I don't see how having a dedicated gadget would be worth it. But then everyone seems to be raving about rice cookers lately, so I feel like I must be missing something. :confused3

We had a rice cooker for a long time but I never used it. We have a steamer and that makes rice if I ever needed it to, mostly use it for vegetables and hard boiled eggs though.

I couldn't live without my ice cream scoop and spoon rest, use them daily.
