*****OFFICIAL July 2012 Thread! Feelin' HOT HOT HOT!

OK - just wanted ask, hope to meet up with a couple of Diser's again this year. Last year, we had a great time meeting 7 Diser's at the Dole stand at MK that we visited with on the Dis - Board... Have a great Easter Weekend..

If we keep the ADR, then I would love to meet up. Happy Easter weekend to you too!

Ok, we decided to save money and skip Sea World and Discovery Cove altogether and just stick with Disney. Going to do Typhoon Lagoon and DisneyQuest instead since we have old NE tickets with the WP&M on them. Also, I made an appt for Pirate's League for my DD to do the Mermaid package instead of BBB.

Our new travel dates are: July 24-29 Pop Century

ADRs:

July 26 @ 11am Pirates League
July 26 @ 2pm Garden View Tea
July 27 @ 3:30pm Mama Melrose F! Dinner Package

We'll probably add another ADR or two and will do a split stay but I'll work on those next week!

Happy Easter everyone!

I'm joining in here because I just decided to take my "little" cousin for her first trip 7/18-7/23. She is 17 and is graduating highschool this June. I figured instead of just giving her money, I would pay a little more and take her to Disney. That way I get to have fun too :thumbsup2

I am very nervous about this trip since I have only been in thewinter months and being from ME, we are not used to that heat and the high crowds. But I will not have my son with me, so I only have to worry about myself. I have already ordered some "cool cloths" to keep with us and we will find some good insulated water bottles. I think we will be fine.

Okay, going back to meet all you other July people :)

I added you to the list on page 25.

Thanks! The "?" for my resort choice is right....I can't decide! :scared1:
My budget says POP, my head says POFQ, but my heart says Poly. We stayed at the Poly this past Feb and it was what I consider my first trip since I can't really remember the childhood trips offsite. I totally fell in love with the Poly and would love to share that experience with my cousin, but I'm not sure my budget will allow for that. So I am thinking we will end up booking POFQ and just plan a few meals at the Poly (gotta have at least breakfast and dinner at Kona...yum). I will book something by Tuesday after I have a chat with the lucky girl I'm taking.

I was really worried about the heat, but after picking up a few helpful things on Amazon, I feel more ready for that. And like a few people said on here, we will plan on mid-day breaks and taking advantage of EMHs often. Can't wait!

We wanted to stay at the Poly for part of our trip. I was originally booked there but once we extended our trip to be longer we switched to our old favorite AKL. It would have been nice to try something we haven't done in a while, but we love AKL so it worked out. POFQ is one of our favorites too when we need to go moderate. I like it's quiet and compact feel. Good luck making your decision. I am sure anywhere you end up will be great.

Please forgive me as I haven't had time to sift through all the July 411...so long story short, it looks like I will be making a solo trip July 27-29. I can't use DVC pts so am looking at booking a Deluxe (maybe).

Are there any codes out for that time frame?
We have APs, any AP rates for rooms?
Since I am a solo female and we had a week trip back in Feb with another week trip scheduled in October, I am using this as a "spa/relax" trip...where should I stay?

I have been looking at staying at a Deluxe hubby and I haven't tried yet (since he won't be with me it would probably make me sad staying at the Poly or an Epcot resort). I was thinking this might be a good time to try the Swan/Dolphin?

I appreciate any feedback, words of encouragement (first actual solo WDW trip), and ideas! :wizard:

Today is our 99 day mark! Double digit dancing today! :cool1::cool1::banana::banana:

98 for you today!!! :yay:

I wish I could give advice on the resort. I am in a similar boat. I guess I would say follow your budget... ;)

I think that so many attractions are in AC that you will be fine! The mid-day breaks also help. We have these fans, but find that we don't really use them... The small ones are nice because they can clip or go in a bag without a hassle.

Hello July travellers.

Like others, I have the resort dilemma. I orginally wanted to stay at the Boardwalk. I love the bright, sunny feel, and the Epcot area. (We were at BCV in Dec. and BWV two summers ago.) When I booked, though, I couldn't get our dates. DH's only request was that we don't do a split stay. I was able to book our dates at Jambo, so I did.

We've stayed at Jambo, and I've loved both stays. I have no real complaints. It is dark and it is hard to find sun sometimes in the pool area; I think that those factors are exemplified by my desire to stay at the bright Epcot resorts!

Now, I am not sold on my decision. I am so worried that I am going to regret not staying at Boardwalk or Beach Club. (I do think I could change it...) However, I do love Jambo, so then I might miss it! :rotfl2:

Any words to help me???!!! :scared1: I know this is just silly, but some of you understand this ridiculousness! :flower3:

Yeah we are so excited, after deciding to skip Disney this year (the horror) we just booked for OKW July 21 - 28!! :cool1:

I haven't looked through the entire thread, but in the past there was usually a page listing everyone who is going and the dates and resorts? Did I miss this or am I crazy? Probably crazy!! ;)

Discount info from Mouse savers:

Save at select Disney resorts for stays most nights 6/15/12-8/14/12.
Discounts off rack rates:
Value resorts up to 15% off
Moderate resorts up to 20% off
Deluxe and Deluxe Villa resorts up to 25% off (some are discounted only 5%)

I only saw AP discounts only through June currently.

Why not stay where a spa is? Also, might you miss DH if you try a new resort without him? Maybe pick one where he isn't interested in staying. For my dh that would be GF...

You can officially count my mom and I in- she just surprised me with the trip this morning! We're checking in July 24th and checking out August 1st at Pop Century. Next step is booking our dining reservations. :)

I created a resort and ADR thread for July under the Resorts thread. It is getting hard for people to find the resort list and for me to remember what page to copy and paste the new information from. I am confusing new lists with old lists or vice versa. I thought we could post resort and ADR information there. It still talk here or there. Two places to chat is always better than one... Lol. :goodvibes

I agree with Debby. Trying something new without your husband might make you and him disappointed so picking somewhere he might not want to try is a great suggestion. No AP rates out for July yet.

We love AKl so it's hard for me to tell you to go somewhere else, but I understand what you mean about the darkness at Jambo. Sometimes we find going to Kidani for the pool makes it a little more bright and sunny. I agree that the Beach Club and BWV have a great sunny appeal, plus if you just want to slide into Epcot for dinner and then leave the International Gateway is awesome for that. Idk. Don't know it it helped or not, but definitely do what will make you the happiest.

I put you on the list, which I just moved to the Resort board. You are not the first person to tell me you can't find the list. I keep moving it ahead pages, but it keeps getting buried again. I put a link above.

You can officially count my mom and I in- she just surprised me with the trip this morning! We're checking in July 24th and checking out August 1st at Pop Century. Next step is booking our dining reservations. :)

I added you officially to the list which I am now updated under the Resort board so I can control the list. The link is in a post above.

Happy Easter! I changed your dates and added your ADRs to the list on page 25.

Thanks!

Here's another POV -- you are going in July when it is HOT and Super Sunny...so having the darker woods of AKV will be a very pleasant respite from the hot, humid weather of a July summer in Florida.

I know you can't physically get away from the heat, but mentally, when you walk back into your room/lobby, you are going to say "ahhhh" and feel like your are seriously getting away.

I love AKV (Kidani is my favorite but Jambo is great too) ...but I also love BCV and BLT and OKW and ...and...and

You get the idea -- we actually love them all. But going to AKV in summer makes a lot of sense...particulary b/c the animals will be much more active the in early morning and late at night -- exactly when you will be at the room (most likely).

Also, having shade at the pool is a MUST! You'll have plenty (too much) sun in the parks and parking lots and waiting in lines for the parades, rides, etc, so having shade at the pool is a major plus, IMO.

I say stay with AKV -- I think it is perfect for Summer time!:thumbsup2

I just called to change my resort dates and do a split stay and found out that I have PIN code on my account!!

It wasn't there just a few weeks ago.

Now I'm seriously considering upgrading to deluxe! Ok, not really going to happen but in my head I'm trying to figure out all the reasons a deluxe would be sooooo much better!!

I'll post my new dates/resorts in the other thread.

Thanks for the feedback! I'm going to stick with the Dolphin that weekend. There is a spa and we would never stay there so now it's an adventure!

So officially put me down for July 27-29 @ the Dolphin :)

Anjalee - that secret entrance to Epcot is so sweet...

Thanks Marsha! I do love that lobby!
