'Where's your prince' and will this tale end 'happily ever after'? Sept 11 - Complete

Haha, love that you tricked Zaheer to get him on SM! Did he end up liking it?:cool1:

I still haven't done Monster's Inc Laugh Floor. I haven't seen Monster's Inc, so we always skip it!

LOL it was hilarious!!! I enjoyed playing that little trick! ;) He actually ended up liking Space Mountain more than he would care to admit but I'm pretty sure he wouldn't go on it again :rotfl:

Oh, you should definitely visit Monster's Inc Laugh Floor. Although it's nice to have seen the movie (which is great by the way - you should watch it sometime) it doesn't really matter if you haven't. It's still fun! :goodvibes

Hi everyone! I hope you are all having a good weekend! :goodvibes

So after resting at Pop we got ready and headed to Artist Point. The journey was quite eventful as just as we had decided to leave it started pouring - I mean a BIG downpour that carried on forever! Oh well I suppose it was one way to remember the evening!

We managed to get to MK without getting too wet however got in the boat queue for TTC rather than the one to the resorts. Once we realised this we had to get into the right queue and ended up getting totally soaked!! :rotfl:

We got to Wilderness Lodge and checked in to Artist Point. We looked around the resort which I thought was okay however enjoyed AKL and Beach Club more.

We didn't wait long before being seated. Our server introduced herself and asked us if we were on the dining plan. She took our drinks order and we asked if we could speak with the chef about our dietary requirements. She told us that the chef was busy and could not see us. She said that they did have some halal meat available after checking with the kitchen.

Zaheer asked if he could have extra spices in his meal and was told this was not possible. This made him a bit nervous about ordering a meat dish but he tried it anyway.

This bread arrived which was soo yummy - I could have happily eaten the whole lot!

The view from our table:

Zaheer ordered the beef tenderloin with marble potatoes and garden vegetables. He enjoyed the dish however the portion was quite big so he didn't finish it. I think it was a bit undercooked for his liking.

Thanks to the food boards I already knew what I was having...the Cedar Plank Roasted Wild King Salmon with confit artichokes, petit zucchini and baby carrots. I asked for the bacon egg vinagerette to be left off which wasn't a problem. This was delicious and I loved the way the salmon was cooked...it just melted in my mouth :cloud9:

On to dessert and once again I knew what I was having...the Artist Point Cobbler! I enjoyed this - it was not my all time favourite dessert but it was nice.

854-2.jpg

Zaheer chose the Baked Peach Upside-down Cake with sweet and sour caramel sauce and roasted peach ice cream. I think he enjoyed this as he did finish it.

Overall the meal was lovely however the service let us down, especially for a Signature restaurant. California Grille was far more accompanying and we enjoyed the atmosphere at this restaurant better as well. I would probably choose CG over AP on a future visit - that's just my opinion though.

After we were done with our meal it was still raining. I wanted to return to MK however Zaheer didn't want to as he was of the opinion the shows would be cancelled. He returned to Pop and I made my way to MK getting drenched along the way. I think at this point I was wet anyway so didn't mind the rain. I waited an hour with announcements saying MSEP had been temporarily delayed. I think some people gave up waiting and decided to leave however this was my only chance to view the show and I wasn't going to give up easily!

Just as I thought the show wasn't going to happen it started at 9.45pm!! I'm so glad I stayed to watch the show as it was amazing! My camera battery was dying again so I took a few pics but decided to enjoy my final night at MK, taking in the atmosphere and all the things I wouldn't be seeing for a while.

The umbrellas were up and ponchos were on (or not)!

I watched The Magic, The Memories and You show again (sorry - battery was well and truly dead at this point) which is AMAZING - I love the way the pics and effects are portrayed on the castle. Everyone cheered when Walt was shown!

I stayed on for Wishes but was too close to the castle to see much of the fireworks - I had seen the show before but walked further back to get a better view. All in all it was an enjoyable evening and waiting in the rain was so worth it!! I loved how my last evening at Disney World had ended.

I rushed back to the bus stop to avoid the mad rush and got back to my room where I had a nice hot bath and started to pack in preperation for tomorrow :sad2:

Coming up: Departure day and one last DIS meet!

I'm so sad your trip is ending :sad1:

I have looked at the menu for AP but never had a big desire to try it. Maybe when I have tried all the restaurants I want to try I will make it there

Your parade pictures are really great! Love them. So glad it stopped raining and the parade, fireworks, and show went on.

It does sound like the service you got at AP was a little off. I can't believe you couldn't speak with the chef. Odd. I am glad your food was good. I had the salmon in December and it was really good. I do agree though that the service at CG was better this trip. When Denny and I went for anniversary the service at AP was exemplary.

Boo hoo - last night!

A little rain won't stop my Disney vacation!:lmao:

You have such nice photos of the MSEP! I really missed not seeing it this time around.

You spent your last day in Disney very wisely!

Those pictures of the MSEP just made me tear up. Oh gawd now I'm going to search You Tube and I'll be blubbering in front of my computer all morning because I'm not going this year! lmao
The meal looked good but I can't believe how unaccommodating they were. :confused3

Very happy that you decided to go to MK anyway, I'm always like that on my last days -- I need to soak in as much as I can to take home with me.

Sad it's almost the end of your trip but sounds like a nice night at the MK despite the rain. I agree, the Magic, Memories, and You show is amazing. I don't know how they do it!

The parade looked so pretty. I was never a big fan of parades but I'm getting there. I'll definitely have to see that one some time. I know it has a lot of fans.

I'm glad you stayed even though it was raining :)

Sad that it rained on your last night, but way to embrace the moment and just go with the flow! :thumbsup2 I can't believe your trip has almost come to an end, it's been so enjoyable reading it. You managed to do so much in your first trip, and I'm really glad you enjoyed it.

You're going to have to start a really, really, really early PTR so I can keep following along. :rotfl:

I'm sorry you were a little let down with Artist Point, we really enjoyed it, and our server was fantastic! :thumbsup2 I guess every restaurant has their bad nights, though!

Glad you decided to go to MK, even if it was raining, and that you go to see the MSEP! :thumbsup2 Can't believe your trip is almost over!

I'm happy to hear your last evening ended well and you were able to see the parade. I love that parade! It was the same parade that was going on when I was a kid so the music brings up good memories. I finally saw the Magic, Memories and You show a couple weeks ago and agree that it was amazing. I love what they've done with it.

I'm sorry you didn't get the job. I haven't found one yet either. We can be unemployed bums together. :rotfl:

I'm so glad you liked Crystal Palace breakfast! It's my favorite Disney breakfast. The combination of Puffed French Toast and Winnie the Pooh characters are a blast!

I am stunned at the service you received at Artist Point! The chef is too busy?? What is that about? I have to agree with you about CG...it was our first signature dining experience and I think because of the two servers we had it has remained our favorite. They made the entire night for us! We had a male and a female and they were amazingly wonderful!

Home to pack?? It can't be over already:sad1:

I'm so sad as well :sad2: - especially as it is happening for the second time!

I read rave reviews over on the food boards before deciding to try it but probably won't rush back. It could be that we just were there on the wrong night :confused3 Haha yeah trying it once you have tried everywhere you want to sounds like a good plan.

Boo hoo - last night!

Thanks - I was pleased with them as well especially as my camera kept bleeping on me informing me that the battery was dying! :rotfl: I'm so happy it stopped raining and the shows still went on. It has taught me a lesson though in not to wait until the last night to view a certain show as it may not happen.

I'm glad you say that as well - I may give it another try as have heard great reviews form most people that have tried AP. I know, that was wierd, right? :confused3 I don't know why he was so busy that he couldn't come out to see us - maybe I should have asked. That salmon was delish and I definitely felt more comfortable with the service/atmosphere at CG! I'm glad you had exemplary service for your anniversary :goodvibes

I know - can't believe it's coming to an end :sad2:

A little rain won't stop my Disney vacation!:lmao:

You have such nice photos of the MSEP! I really missed not seeing it this time around.

You spent your last day in Disney very wisely!

:rotfl2: Exactly!!!

Thanks! I'm glad I got to watch it though most people that have seen this as well as Spectro Magic prefer that one.

I agree - I was more than happy with being at MK for my penultimate day - still have a bit of Epcot to come :goodvibes

Those pictures of the MSEP just made me tear up. Oh gawd now I'm going to search You Tube and I'll be blubbering in front of my computer all morning because I'm not going this year! lmao

Aaw I'm sorry to have made you tear up but at the same time feel like saying thank you! :confused3 :rotfl: I love you tube for being able to see Disney videos and brighten my day :thumbsup2 Lol niether am I :sad2:

The meal was good and I was surprised at how they were not as accomodating as some of the other restauarants especially with it being a Signature dining place. Though I think we just went on a bad night by the sounds of it.

Haha I'm glad you understand - I needed to have as much of it in my memory/system to keep me going until my next trip!

Sad it's almost the end of your trip but sounds like a nice night at the MK despite the rain. I agree, the Magic, Memories, and You show is amazing. I don't know how they do it!

I'm sad as well but hopefully time'll fly and I'll be able to plan another trip soon :thumbsup2 I enjoyed being at MK that evening even though I was soaked in the process!! I know - it's amazing how it is organised and projected on the castle :goodvibes

The parade looked so pretty. I was never a big fan of parades but I'm getting there. I'll definitely have to see that one some time. I know it has a lot of fans.

I'm glad you stayed even though it was raining :)

It was pretty! I'm glad you are slowly being converted to enjoy parades as I loved all of the ones I got to see :thumbsup2 There are still some that I didn't get to watch but hopefully I'll be able to catch them on a future trip ;)

I'm glad as well and you are right about the fans - even with the rain there will still plenty of people that stuck out the wait.

:rotfl:

In a way I wasn't sad about the rain as it is part of the memory I have of that night and a way in which I'll remember it for that much longer! :thumbsup2 I can't believe it either - where has the time gone? :lmao: Aaw thank you - I wasn't sure when I'd be able to return so wanted to fit in as much as humanely possible!

:rotfl2: Haha okay will try but after the amount I had to fit into the last PTR to keep it going may try and wait a bit more this time though knowing my impatient streak that'll probably not happen :rolleyes1

I'm glad you really enjoyed Artist Point and had an awesome time! :thumbsup2 As I was saying to Mary Ellen and other DISers the reviews I have read of this place have been pretty positive so maybe we were just there on a bad night! I may have to try it again though want to try other places first.

Thanks - I'm glad with the way that evening went as well! :goodvibes I know - makes me sad.

Thanks! It is a great parade to watch, isn't it? :thumbsup2 Aaw that is so nice that the same parade was going whilst you visited as a kid and you are able to relive those memories through the music :goodvibes Yay! I'm happy you got to watch the Magic, Memories and You show - it's just amazing what has been done with it.

Aaw thanks Abby - haha we sure can be unemployed bums together! :rotfl2: Maybe the long time will result in really good jobs for both of us - I sure hope so.

I remember when I made some changes to our ADRs and added that one how you told me I would not regret it. You sure were right! I loved having breakfast here and agree in that the Puffed French Toast, characters and decor makes this a great breakfast destination! Think I may head there in the morning! :rolleyes1 :lmao:

I am stunned at the service you received at Artist Point! The chef is too busy?? What is that about? I have to agree with you about CG...it was our first signature dining experience and I think because of the two servers we had it has remained our favorite. They made the entire night for us! We had a male and a female and they were amazingly wonderful!

Home to pack?? It can't be over already:sad1:

I know, right?! Lol I think that we just got the wrong server or she was having a bad night. It put me off the place a little though and would probably be that bit reserved about returning in the future.

I am soo happy that CG was our first restaurant as it was amazing and we both loved the food and service. Haha at having two servers! It must have been nice to have been fussed over for the entire evening! :thumbsup2 We had a female server and she was just as nice. Part of me wishes we had booked it again for our last night as well.

I'm afraid it is :sad2: This TR has flown by just as fast as the actual trip!! Oh well will just have to experience Disney through others until I get to go again in 2013 :goodvibes

I have heard some disappointing reviews lately on AP...thats too bad...but maybe they will work on improving the service if they hear how some people are not impressed :confused3

I am SO glad you returned to MK to see the night shows/fireworks. I just love the MSEP music and I am glad you were able to enjoy it, even if it did mean getting wet!! :goodvibes

Hi everyone! I don't really want to post an update until the weekend as I know it's going to be a sad one. I hope you all understand.

:goodvibes

I'm surprised of that with AP especially as before our trip I researched the food boards and most of the reviews were positive :confused3 I hope you're right and if I try it in the future get a completely different experience :goodvibes

I was SO pleased with that decision as well - believe me all the waiting was worth it once the shows begun!! The music to MSEP is incredible! :thumbsup2

OK Tanz I got a job! It's fantastic, exactly what I wanted! I'm a teller at a local bank and they offer great benefits, and the pay is higher than I was expecting it to be!

So that means you should have an offer coming soon! :wizard: (Let's hope!)
