The 2010 Yacht and Beach Club FAQ Thread

Just have a quick question and wanted some input. Looking at prices for YC standard for next July. Seems like there are no standard rooms coming up, just water and CL. I even played around with the dates and nothing the last 3 weeks of July. I'm looking at July 22-30, 2011. Just seems strange all the Standard would be sold out already. Even this year I was able to get standard view up until a week before my trip, same dates that I'm looking for for next year. Anyone have any ideas? MAybe a large convention?:confused3

What's the Wildlife Discovery Excursion mentioned in the top message on this page?

It is a special Safari in AK that can only be booked by guest staying Club Level at any WDW resort. We booked it for our trip in Sept. It is in a special climate controlled truck and lasts about an hour. It cost $50/person and some of the monies go to the Wildlife fund. It ends in Nov of this year and will be replaced with another safari that anyone can book. Here is the link to it.

it is available at 10am or 1pm

Did you think it was worth the money? We are going to be at BC CL in a few weeks. My husband and I have been on safari, but my daughter hasn't. Just wondering if we should try to do this ......

In response to the various questions about only standard view or only water view availability showing for certain dates next year, I wouldn't panic yet. I don't know this as fact but I'm guessing that since they are just starting to load all the new categories into the system, there's a good chance that certain rooms not being available could be only because of that. So, I'd give it a few more weeks of trying.

Hi all - I've just recently passed the halfway point in this thread - I'm now up to page 144 - and I wasn't going to post anything until I got caught up. But I came across something interesting, and a quick search looks like maybe it hasn't been mentioned. (If it has, I'll look stupid, and discover this in about another 120 pages.)

Well, the rack rates are available for 2011, and it looks like at least BC and Yacht Club have new room categories - in addition to Standard and Water View, there is now a "Garden View". Apparently there are so many requests from those booking standard view for views of something other than parking lots and roofs, they have decided to make it a separate category. (No sign of "Gazebo View, though.)

for the value season, standard view is currently $340. Next year, in the same season, Standard is $335 and Garden is 345. So they're splitting the difference. I wonder which category those BC rooms in the front will be, the ones that look out towards the Villas.

Have not bothered to look too closely at other rates, at any of the resorts. Just came across this because of our plans for a January visit. (Staying at the YC in September, which is the reason I read the first 140+ pages.)

Oh, I booked last month though a UK travel agent for January and only had the option of Water or standard. I would have liked the option of Garden view.

Thank you for the suggestions! I went with the chocolate covered strawberries and a white chocolate Mickey Mouse! I'm so excited for the surprise. I hope he thinks it's just pixie dust :) They were SOOO nice and helpful with their suggestions.

I think you will like your choice. We stayed at BC for our 25th anniversary and the resort sent those to our room as a surprise. Our daughters (who are now 17 years older  ) still talk about that!

Teena - I just wanted to chime in here and thank you for all your spot-on commentary on all things YC/BC. We are very lucky to have your knowledge to refer to when we have questions. :goodvibes

cigar95, thanks for the info. Like Teena, I think it's a great idea.

Hope everyone there right now is having a great time. Glad so many of you had a fun DIS meet. :grouphug:

It's wonderful ... they took pictures from every room a few months ago and reclassified them all starting January 1st. Now if you book a standard, you know you are going to get a parking lot or roof view.

The gazebo views at the YC that do not face the lake would be a garden view. The ones that face the lake would be a water view.

We are really thrilled because it's not just CL, it's the regular rooms too. Now you will get what you book ... pure and simple.

:thumbsup2 So excited about this, way to go Disney!

No problem ... call your agent back and change it. Be aware though that you may have to wait another week or two ... it might not be showing up on their system yet. But you can certainly have your reservation modified!

For our family yes, my DS12 wants to be a veterinarian and would LOVE to do one of the backstage tours at AK but he has to be at least 16 years old to attend. He looks a lot older then 12, he is 5'7" and 150lb and asked if I could "sneak" him into the tour because he wants so much to do it. Here is a link to a review about the tour which gives you more info about it. Would your DD enjoy the hour tour?

I heard a lots of negatives about IPO at BC, but so far they have been great! I couldn't believe it when I answered the phone this morning and the caller id said disney!! They called to make sure they had the correct spelling of my son's name which is Conor w/ 1 n. She said she never saw it spelled like that before and wanted to make sure they didn't make a mistake. WOW I couldn't believe they would make a phone call for THAT!! I was impressed. She was so friendly. I told her that I was meaning to call with a question maybe she could help me. My son has a sleep disorder and still wets the bed wasn't sure what I should do about this even though I'm sure this is nothing knew to disney LOTS of kids do this. She told me she would call mousekeeping and call me back. She called back 45 min later!! She told me it is all taken care of they put in a request for a daybed or a rollaway (DS brother doesn't like to sleep in the same bed can you blame him?) If not they will have protection over the mattress for me not to worry. Sorry for the long story but it was a bit of magic for me early in the morning and I'm not even there yet. Arriving 8/20 CL Can't WAIT!!

My DS12 is Conor with 1 'n' too! We will be there this weekend! IPO has been good with us too, very friendly and helpful. I think I want to change my BCV ressie in Nov. and stay CL at the BC then too. I love having someone to handle the details for me. Even if I don't "need " them per say it's nice to know they are there.

That is so cool ElliBelle you don't usually meet people that spell Conor that way he would be happy. Hope you have a fantastic trip! And IPO sprinkles pixie dust on you:)

Thanks! Pixie Dust for you too!
Conor is the traditional Irish spelling (ex)DH born and raised in Ireland :shamrock:

Hi everyone, we are staying at the BCV for the 1st time a week from today!! Quick question, how long is the walk from the resort thru epcot to the monorails? Time/distance?

Reason why...on arrival day we land at 1:50, ME, maybe at room by 3:30? We've got 6:45 ressie for CM. I was thinking of a leisurely walk thru epcot and a fun ride on the monorail. We should have plenty of time and not have to rush.

Is this a crazy plan. Are we better just hopping the bus to MK and going from there?

DDluvsdisney:

The IPO is great for a child that may need a little extra aren't they? My Conor has some medical issues to be considered and they have been so kind!

I think that many people try to figure out if CL is "worth it" in dollars and cents and maybe it isn't if you try to figure it out that way, I'm not sure, this is our first CL experience but so for the IPO has been great and has helped make a rather strange last minute weekend trip something special.

I can't wait!
