Disney's Beach Club and Yacht Club FAQs thread

The Beach Club
bc.jpg

A sandy white beach along a shimmering lake creates a feeling reminiscent of the lazy days of summer along the eastern seaboard. Relaxed yet luxurious, Disney’s Beach Club Resort shares an array of amenities with its “sister resort” Disney's Yacht Club Resort just a few feet away — a sandbottom pool, health club, full service marina and a beachfront promenade with direct access to Epcot® as well as the unique shops and restaurants at Disney’s BoardWalk entertainment district.

There’s even a beachfront promenade with direct access to Epcot as well as the unique shops and restaurants at Disney’s BoardWalk Resort.

It's been a while since I've been to the B&Y Club, and I'm trying to remember if there is any quick breakfast options (i.e. picking up bagels and coffee or maybe waffles to bring back to the room)? I don't remember if Beaches & Cream had take out or these types of options. Any ideas? Also, is there any restaurant where "Ariel's" used to be? Thanks in advance!

Seems like I read somewhere that they added QS breakfast to B&C.

What time can you get into the World Showcase? Doesn't FW usually open at 9am and the WS at 11am, do they let you into WS about 9 so that you can walk over to FW?

Thanks, Erika

Hi Erika- the breakfast a B&C was done on a trial basis in the summer of 2009 (July and August, I think) then unfortunately it was discontinued. Several of us wrote letters saying how much we liked it but it hasn't been back.

Yes, you can get into EPCOT when it opens (either 8 AM for EMH or 9 AM for regular opening). You walk through the empty streets of UK and Canada and then can head into Future World. Nothing in the World Showcase is open.

Here's a question- not one I need answered for me, but I just thought of it and I'm curious. If you have a princess breakfast at Norway, can you go the other way through the world showcase (France, Morocco, etc) or do you have to go through UK and Canada then onto Mexico, Norway, or do you have to enter through Future World?

Received a letter in the mail stating that the slide at SAB will be being rehabbed during the month of May. Anyone have anymore info than that? Sounds like rest of SAB willl be open though.

You enter through the IG and go to Norway via UK/Canada/Mexico; you will not be permitted to walk via France/Morocco/etc. (there will be ropes up and a cast member directing you where to go).

As letter states, pool and kiddies slide and everything else will be operating. Shuttles will take guests to and from the Boardwalk slide if you want the large slide experience. This was not planned in advance. The slide became less slippery and it must be fixed. They immediately contracted for work to be done on it, scheduled it and sent out letters and everyone is hoping it will be done by the end of May. These things happen. My car just developed a major problem althugh I do all the scheduled maintenance on it. Sometimes you can't predict things in advance. They normally schedule routine maintenance during the winter months but happened suddenly.

Teena, good luck with your car! Arghh!

We got the SAB letter the other day. At first I was a little bummed, but my oldest just turned 7 so the kiddie slide is fine for us!

Teena- sorry to hear about your car. Hope you get it back soon!

DS14 would actually love to try the Boardwalk silde....too bad we are not heading to BC in May! :)

Thank you so much for this board. This is my first time to Disney World and my family of 3, me, my DH and my DD age 8. We will be coming the week of June 20 and will stay at the BC in a standard room with a king bed and a daybed. Will this room have a bad view witout a balcony? Is this type of room a bad choice?

Thank you,
Diana

Hi Diana,
If you booked a standard room, your view could be a courtyard or garden view but it could also be a view of a roof or parking lot. You cannot know that you are getting a room with a king bed and a daybed. In fact, there are very very few rooms (if any) with both a king and a daybed in it and you cannot make a reservation for that room, you can only request a king and daybed. That being said, if you want a full balcony, you should make that your first request. If you want a courtyard view, you might want to make that your first request. If you request a king and daybed, full balcony and courtyard view, the chances of getting all of those things are very very slim. You should decide what you want the most and make that one thing your request. However, even if you only make one request and its a king and daybed, your chances of getting that is low since we don't have hardly any (if any) of that combination and it would have to be unoccupied on the day you check-in.

Some resorts you can actually book a king bed. If the king bed is a biggy for you, you might want to look into a resort that you can actually book that ... therefore you don't have to request and hope for it.

Hope this helps,
Teena

Hi Diana!

I know Teena already responded, and I thought I would just add our recent experience. I know it can vary significantly, but last month our standard BC room (2 queens and a daybed) had a balcony (I think it counts as a full balcony, but not sure - it had two chairs and a little table.) We had a view of trees during the day (could see the Eiffel Tower, too!) And at night we had the most beautiful view of the Illuminations fireworks straight ahead of us. We didn't make any requests on our reservation at all (except for a daybed, but I understand they assign daybeds to families of five, anyway.)

Next time, I think I'll request a full balcony, but we're ready to be happy without it - the rooms are great!!

Thank you for answereing my question. On my reservation it says King Bed with Day bed. I really don't care about that. I really would rather have a balcony. What do I need to do now about that now? Do I wait and see what I get or do I need to call someone?
