Has anyone had any experience working with private dining at the YC to do some sort of in room surprise dessert? I'm going to call tomorrow when I'm not with DH :) but I'd love to do something special for our 10th anniversary. I think the cakes are probably a little too much for the length of stay but if there was something similar that would be great! Thank you :)

Dh and I are driving up from South Florida and staying at Pop Century 1 night prior to our BC CL stay. We are going to arrive at the BC early so we can check in the CL and have the lounge offerings for breakfast (hint from Teena :)).

My question is, since we will be checking in approximately 7:30ish, should we park and bring the luggage in with us? If the room is not ready I know they will store it for us. Or would it be better to leave the luggage in the car and go back and get it once the room is available? (We rather park 1st and enter the BC together.)

You don't need to bring it over. Have Pop Century send it over (unless you need it before 4 PM). That way you can park and walk in together. It would be a real long shot that your room is ready that early.

If you want to bring your luggage with you, then you can pull up to the front of the BC, have valet unload it and take it, then go park and walk in together. If the room is ready, a bellman will bring the suitcases right up to you after you get checked in. If not, they will store it.

Just got home. The meet was fantastic. I had such a great time meeting everybody. I only have an hour to quick eat something, shower and hit the sack so I can be up early tomorrow for my fifth day in a row at the BC. My feet are killing me but I'm really enjoying being in the lobby with all the disboarders there ... lots of laughing going on and story telling.

As you know I don't have a camera but plenty of pictures were taken and wait until you see the "Flat Dee" (our version of Flat Stanley) in the pictures.

What a wonderful group of disboarders. Some didn't make the meet but the ones there all seemed to be having fun talking Disney and making friends.

In May of 2009 and again in May of 2010, I used Private Dining to arrange for choc. covered tuxedo strawberries to be in our room upon arrival. We were staying CL, so I ordered them from IPO, but paid Private Dining. (We were staying at BC, but I know it is the same at both resorts.) They were very good and the kids were so surprised! In fact, one of the questions they kept asking prior to going in May 2010, was "I hope we get choc. covered strawberries in our room again. Do you think they do that for everyone? etc., etc., etc." I think there are about 6 in a "standard" order. I don't remember the cost, sorry. They weren't cheap, but it was something special that they remember fondly, so it was worth it! :goodvibes

Enjoy your trip! Happy anniversary!

Yeah, I made it to the meet!!! I wasn't sure if the picture would get to you in time. I mailed it on Wednesday but I was too cheap to pay the extra $10 to guarantee it would make it by Friday!

Have a good rest tonight and take care of those feet! Hope you have an easier schedule this week.

Thanks, Teena! Can't wait - our trip will be here soon. :)

Glad ya'll had fun at the meet today. I'd love to see the pics.

So is there going to be a meet sometime 8/15 to 8/21? It sounds like fun:banana:

My girlfriend and I are staying 4 nights at the Beach Club in late October for the Food and Wine festival. I booked a standard water view room using my pin code for 40% off. I noticed that when I logged into the WDW website to pay my remaining balance, my reservation details under Room Type showed "Deluxe - Water or Pool View." Are all rooms referred to as Deluxe or is this a different room type?

Also, we'd like to have a king bed room with a full balcony and a view of Crescent Lake/Boardwalk as opposed to one of the pools - anyone have any recommendations for such a room? Thanks!

Hi Teena...remember me ? Kinggooofy from chicago (aka..Pete). Blackhawks logo. You tried to help my wifes family last friday to get in their room early while we were standing chatting in the lobby. We are at the YC the rest of this week. We will stop to say hi !!

That's just a regular water view room that could be a view of one of the pools or the lake.

There are very very very few king beds.

Also, keep in mind, the more you request, the less likely you are going to get what you requested. You want a lake view, king bed and full balcony. That's three biggies. The chances of getting all three are real real slim. There just aren't that many king beds to begin with, then you are narrowing it down even more because you booked a water view, then you want a full balcony which cuts it down to a few rooms and only a view of the lake versus the pool ... probably only one or two rooms like that in the whole resort. Are they going to be vacant on the day you check in? Chances aren't good but you never know. And don't forget, you're going to be there during the Y&B's busiest time = Food & Wine Festival. Everybody wants to stay at an Epcot resort for Food & Wine!!

My advice is to pick what is most important to you. I'd probably skip the king bed since that's a long shot anyway. Then I'd make my request "full balcony, lake view please". If what is most important is the king bed, that's the only thing I'd put in my request and even then, it's a long shot that you'll get it. I hate to see you disappointed but there is only one way to guarantee that you will get what you want. See below.

Even if you booked a one bedroom suite, that would get you the king bed but it wouldn't guarantee you a full balcony or lake view. There is one room that would get you everything you want and that's the Vice Presidential Suite. It's a beauty too!!

Heading to bed now. Your ears must have been ringing. I was talking about you at the meet.

Next week's schedule is the same - I'm working tomorrow (Monday), Thursday, Friday, Saturday, Sunday and Monday again. But then I told them I was only available the following Saturday (21st) extra because I have to get ready for my trip to Jeanne's. Don't know if they will schedule me for the 21st or not. I'll find out this Wednesday when the schedule comes out.

Thanks! I had heard that king beds were few and far between, so that confirms it. I'll ditch that part when making our request. I generally try to just request one item, so when the time comes I'm thinking it will just be "lake view." Once we get down there, I always realize we don't even spend that much time on the balcony anyway.

So true ... just like lots of people. They think they will spend time on the balcony but find it's not so. Although we do have some that love their morning coffee out there!

Looking forward to seeing pictures from the meet. I'm glad you all had a good time! Nine more days for us!

Thank you for the suggestions! I went with the chocolate covered strawberries and a white chocolate Mickey Mouse! I'm so excited for the surprise. I hope he thinks it's just pixie dust :) They were SOOO nice and helpful with their suggestions.
