I'm so excited, we're only weeks away before our Labor Day trip!! It'll be our first stay at BCV and we're really looking forward to it. Well, OK, I'M really looking forward to it because the kids are too young to know the difference (dd4 and ds1) and dh doesn't want to know any details until we're headed to the airport.
Anywho, this is a mostly downtime trip with only 1 day planned for parks so I'm looking forward to relaxing at the resort and spending time at SAB.
Quick question - can someone confirm that dd4 can go down the slide on her own? Also, I know I read something about tubes for the lazy river, are they required? And how much are they to rent?
Thank you!
Thanks for the strawberry info...I'll have to look into something special for DD birthday. We check in on her 9th birthday this year! And then my birthday is our 4th day there!

My husband will be celebrating his birthday when we are there in September. I was going to do a cake when we are at LeCellier but I know he doesn't like alot of hoopla. I may do the strawberries instead.
Sounds like such a great trip with lots of relaxing (although with a 1yr old one can only relax so much). When we went a few yrs ago my 4 yr old was able to go down the slide (he had his own bubble on). When we go in September my youngest will be 4 1/2 and can swim a little so hoping he can go down the slide as well. Have a wonderful vacation.

Tubes are not required for the lazy river. It is not too fast, but it is deep, I think over my head in places. I didn't check when I was there in July, but last time I heard, the price was $3 per hour or $10 to rent a tube for the day.
Pool noodles are also allowed. You can buy them at the pool gift shop (maybe $4 each, kind of steep) or you can bring them from home or a nearby Walmart or someplace.
Outside floats are not allowed for adults, clear or otherwise. One of the lifeguards told me that it is ok to use a float from home that goes around a young child, as long as an adult stays within arms length.
Hope this helps.

Clearly rides are not the priority for this trip, especially since DS might be a little under weather (has a chronic medical condition and will be getting a four hour infusion of medication at the hospital that morning. We are actually driving over right from the appointment).
Does this look reasonable? Wish I could work in the movie by the pool but I dont think I can on a short weekend trip. Seems kind of rushed, maybe we should skip AK after the Wildlife discovery Excursion???
We are semi local AP holders so we are pretty frequent visitors, although it is our first BC stay.
I'm assuming they have life vests for the kids at the pool (they did at SSR and AKV) so she'll be able to go down that. She actually went down the slide at SSR when she was only 2 much to my horror (on dh's watch, he thought it was a great idea ), she has NO fear whatsoever.
Hi all! Long time lurker, first time poster. I have a question for Teena, or anyone else who might be able to answer. We have a room booked at BC starting Sat. (8/14). We actually have our stay broken into two reservations - 1 night, then 6 nights, since free dining doesn't start until 8/15. I have read various posts on other threads that said some have had success in picking up park tickets a day early. Most have been able to get them at guest relations at the parks, but I have seen it mentioned that sometimes the resort will grant them early.
Do you know if BC would let us have our park tickets a day early in this situation?
Thanks in advance!
Hi all - I've just recently passed the halfway point in this thread - I'm now up to page 144 - and I wasn't going to post anything until I got caught up. But I came across something interesting, and a quick search looks like maybe it hasn't been mentioned. (If it has, I'll look stupid, and discover this in about another 120 pages.)
Well, the rack rates are available for 2011, and it looks like at least BC and Yacht Club have new room categories - in addition to Standard and Water View, there is now a "Garden View". Apparently there are so many requests from those booking standard view for views of something other than parking lots and roofs, they have decided to make it a separate category. (No sign of "Gazebo View, though.)
for the value season, standard view is currently $340. Next year, in the same season, Standard is $335 and Garden is 345. So they're splitting the difference. I wonder which category those BC rooms in the front will be, the ones that look out towards the Villas.
Have not bothered to look too closely at other rates, at any of the resorts. Just came across this because of our plans for a January visit. (Staying at the YC in September, which is the reason I read the first 140+ pages.)

It's wonderful ... they took pictures from every room a few months ago and reclassified them all starting January 1st. Now if you book a standard, you know you are going to get a parking lot or roof view.
The gazebo views at the YC that do not face the lake would be a garden view. The ones that face the lake would be a water view.
We are really thrilled because it's not just CL, it's the regular rooms too. Now you will get what you book ... pure and simple.
