Thanks for the strawberry info...I'll have to look into something special for DD birthday. We check in on her 9th birthday this year! And then my birthday is our 4th day there! :cool1:

I'm so excited, we're only weeks away before our Labor Day trip!!:cool1::banana: It'll be our first stay at BCV and we're really looking forward to it. Well, OK, I'M really looking forward to it because the kids are too young to know the difference (dd4 and ds1) and dh doesn't want to know any details until we're headed to the airport.

Anywho, this is a mostly downtime trip with only 1 day planned for parks so I'm looking forward to relaxing at the resort and spending time at SAB.

Quick question - can someone confirm that dd4 can go down the slide on her own? Also, I know I read something about tubes for the lazy river, are they required? And how much are they to rent?

Thank you!

Sounds like such a great trip with lots of relaxing (although with a 1yr old one can only relax so much). When we went a few yrs ago my 4 yr old was able to go down the slide (he had his own bubble on). When we go in September my youngest will be 4 1/2 and can swim a little so hoping he can go down the slide as well. Have a wonderful vacation.

My husband will be celebrating his birthday when we are there in September. I was going to do a cake when we are at LeCellier but I know he doesn't like alot of hoopla. I may do the strawberries instead.

Tubes are not required for the lazy river. It is not too fast, but it is deep, I think over my head in places. I didn't check when I was there in July, but last time I heard, the price was $3 per hour or $10 to rent a tube for the day.

Pool noodles are also allowed. You can buy them at the pool gift shop (maybe $4 each, kind of steep) or you can bring them from home or a nearby Walmart or someplace.

Outside floats are not allowed for adults, clear or otherwise. One of the lifeguards told me that it is ok to use a float from home that goes around a young child, as long as an adult stays within arms length.

Hope this helps.

Hi all! Long time lurker, first time poster. I have a question for Teena, or anyone else who might be able to answer. We have a room booked at BC starting Sat. (8/14). We actually have our stay broken into two reservations - 1 night, then 6 nights, since free dining doesn't start until 8/15. I have read various posts on other threads that said some have had success in picking up park tickets a day early. Most have been able to get them at guest relations at the parks, but I have seen it mentioned that sometimes the resort will grant them early.

Do you know if BC would let us have our park tickets a day early in this situation?

Thanks in advance!

The pricing was more reasonable than the cake. The cakes are AMAZING but for our short stay and just the two of us it seemed like a lot when we likely wouldn't make a dent in eating it! This seems more managable! Enjoy your birthday trip - celebrations just make Disney more fun!

8/13 – 3:30 – Check in Beach Club
4:00 – 5:00– Snacks/ drinks in lounge, show DS12 SAB 5:00 – Boat to DHS – Tower of Terror Passholder event
10:00pm – Back to Beach Club – maybe check out SAB?

8/14 8:00 – Breakfast in lounge
9:00 – Bus to Animal Kingdom for Wildlife Discovery Excursion
10:00-11:00 – Wildlife Discovery Excursion
11:00-2:00 – Hit the headliners – Expedition Everest, Kali, Dinosaur, primeval; whirl ( I know, I must be the only one who likes it)! Eat somewhere.
2:00 – back to Beach Club, rest a bit, check out the snack/ appetizer offerings 
6:00 – Head to MK – Primarily to be there for the final night of SummerNightastic Fireworks!

8/15 9:00 – Pack up and check out
10:35 Cape May café Character Breakfast
Swim after Breakfast, Epcot visit or DTD shopping

Clearly rides are not the priority for this trip, especially since DS might be a little under weather (has a chronic medical condition and will be getting a four hour infusion of medication at the hospital that morning. We are actually driving over right from the appointment).

Does this look reasonable? Wish I could work in the movie by the pool but I don’t think I can on a short weekend trip. Seems kind of rushed, maybe we should skip AK after the Wildlife discovery Excursion???
We are semi local AP holders so we are pretty frequent visitors, although it is our first BC stay.

Can anyone give me the correct Fax number to fax Beach Club. The one on the Disney site does not appear to work from UK. Many thanks.

I'm assuming they have life vests for the kids at the pool (they did at SSR and AKV) so she'll be able to go down that. She actually went down the slide at SSR when she was only 2 much to my horror (on dh's watch, he thought it was a great idea ), she has NO fear whatsoever.

Anyway, thanks and enjoy YOUR trip too! :)

They sell noodles at the $1 store so depending on luggage space I'll either stuff a few in or just plan on buying at the gift shop.

Thank you so much!! :goodvibes

We like Primeval Whirl too! I tried it for the first time this year. You are right, though, you don't hear too much about it.

SAB at night is awesome, so if you are still rarin' to go when you get back from HS, a dip would be wonderful. I did this in July- we walked back to BC from HS, I had my bathing suit because we had been to Blizzard Beach earlier in the day, and I just changed in the SAB bathroom, instead of going to my room first. If that appeals to you, there are luggage lockers outside of HS, $1 (4 quarters) where you could stash swim suits while you are at HS.

Here are the hours for the Concierge Lounge- unfortunately, the lounge is closed from 4 to 5 while they set up for the afternoon appetizers, so you would either have to go earlier, 3:30 for cookies and drinks, or if you can leave a little later for HS, you can stop by the lounge at 5 for some hot apps.
Concierge Lounge hours:

Sunrise Starters: 7-10:30 am
pastry, cereal, bagels, fruit, hardboiled eggs, oatmeal, coffee machine, juices, milk, chocolate milk

Seaside Snacks: 11:30-4:00
home-made kettle chips and red pepper dip, swedish fish, trail mix, cookies, lemonade, ice tea, soda???

Twilight Treasures: 5-7 PM
Beer, wine, soda, other drinks, appetizers (see photo link)

Regatta Delights: 8-10 PM
cordials, other drinks, dessert offerings

Here is a link to a bunch of my pictures from the Concierge Lounge:

Have a super trip!

ibela, we were just at BC again in July and they had lots of life vests for toddlers/pre-schoolers around the sand play area at SAB. As many here know (especially Robyn/Disneymomx7, who mentioned her experience there) the smaller slide at the base of the pirate ship is also awesome! Our pre-schooler must have gone down this slide a zillion times - and you can catch the kids at the bottom. It's not as slow as it looks in the photos without the water running. When it's running, it's a quick and very fun slide - even our older boys would spend lots of time with our pre-schooler there.

Have a great time!!

I am slowly working my way through the thread, gathering info as I go :flower3: Teena, you are such a great source for info! :worship:

Anyway, we are considering staying here in June, since DS (who will turn 8 on the trip) is DYING to ride the SAB slide! Does anyone know how deep it is at the bottom of the slide? Also, I know it is an enclosed slide (or at least part of it) but for how long is it enclosed and is it dark? (He probably wouldn't care, but Mommy is curious ;))

Next, we would book the CL level and I am torn between YC and BC. I love the decor of both rooms but think the BC lobby is more our style. Is there a big difference between the YC CL and BC CL lounges in terms of space, crowds etc? Also, I noticed that they now breakdown the CL room views in terms of standard, garden and lagoon. I would probably want garden, but from what I have read so far it seems like there are more "standard views"

Any other tips you can give me are greatly appreciated! We are staying BWI CL in November and this will be our first trip away from the monorail in many stays. I really hope we like the convenience of the area enough to book that BC or YC room for June '11...

TIA!

Hi all - I've just recently passed the halfway point in this thread - I'm now up to page 144 - and I wasn't going to post anything until I got caught up. But I came across something interesting, and a quick search looks like maybe it hasn't been mentioned. (If it has, I'll look stupid, and discover this in about another 120 pages.)

Well, the rack rates are available for 2011, and it looks like at least BC and Yacht Club have new room categories - in addition to Standard and Water View, there is now a "Garden View". Apparently there are so many requests from those booking standard view for views of something other than parking lots and roofs, they have decided to make it a separate category. (No sign of "Gazebo View, though.)

for the value season, standard view is currently $340. Next year, in the same season, Standard is $335 and Garden is 345. So they're splitting the difference. I wonder which category those BC rooms in the front will be, the ones that look out towards the Villas.

Have not bothered to look too closely at other rates, at any of the resorts. Just came across this because of our plans for a January visit. (Staying at the YC in September, which is the reason I read the first 140+ pages.)

Doubt they will. I've never heard of getting your room keys (which have the park passes and dining plan on them) a day early. You can certainly try though ... never hurts to ask. If they could do it though, they wouldn't make you come back the second day to get your new keys for the same room.

It's wonderful ... they took pictures from every room a few months ago and reclassified them all starting January 1st. Now if you book a standard, you know you are going to get a parking lot or roof view.

The gazebo views at the YC that do not face the lake would be a garden view. The ones that face the lake would be a water view.

We are really thrilled because it's not just CL, it's the regular rooms too. Now you will get what you book ... pure and simple.

We were originally staying at the BC standard view, but then I changed or reservations to YC CL two weeks ago. I received an email from IPO about 5 days after I booked CL and now another few days I get another email from them. WOW! IPO is on the ball and doing a great job. I just wanted to let people know that so far I'm having a wonderful experience with the communication I'm getting from them.

This is great information -- thanks so much.

I just tried pricing out BC/YC (online) for starting January 12, 2011 and the lowest priced room they have available is a water view. Do you all think it's really possible that all the standard/(new) garden view rooms are already booked up?:confused3

What's the Wildlife Discovery Excursion mentioned in the top message on this page?

Pure and simple. Love it:surfweb:
