I was waiting for that. That's unreal numbers too!

Question - what does it take to "sponsor" a show or get like the Gymboree free clothes? I'm sorry I'm just dumb about this kind of stuff. Like how come Starbucks hasn't shelled out the cash (assuming they pay to sponsor the show or get their products on it)? It seems like there are always Starbucks cups being moved out of the way (blurred out of course!) and didn't Kate get Jon a gift card there for Valentine's Day or Christmas or their anniversary or something (I think I recall the kids helping her wrap it while he was at work)? Granted I don't drink Starbucks but have seen enough of the cups to recognize it (or maybe not - maybe it's another brand and I'm way off!). Just curious about that.

Someone just explained it in the above post.
But I'll explain it on a really small scale.
My son moto-cross races.
There is 3 levels of sponsorship.
Of course Sponsorship A is what all riders want.
Sponsor A, you receive a 4wheeler, like from Honda,
and they pay you to ride it,
they give you all free parts for the bike,
including the bike itself.
You can make your living from Honda if you become a sponsored rider.
I'm assuming, Jon and Kate receive these kind of perks from their sponsored sponsors.

Level B-you may receive the product from said sponsor.
If you win a race,
they will pay you for using their product.
You usually get a deep discount to purchase their product.
My son is usually in this level.
He won his bracket this weekend
and the shock representative
and tire representative gave him $150
each for winning the race and using their product while he won the race.
It can be tricky, because Matt has to go to a certain area,
after the race and have his bike and body checked over to see what he is wearing
and what is on the bike.
Lots of times, he may have different shocks on the bike,
than the sponsored shocks.
He could get money, for having the correct goggles on,
if he won the race.

Level C-you usually only get a discount to purchase their product.
If you win a race,
you may get paid.

Hi esther, welcome to this crazy thread.

I didn't realize there were "levels" but that totally makes sense. Thanks for the info, OhMari! :thumbsup2

Hi esther, welcome to this crazy thread.

I'll apologize ahead of time if I repeat anything that was already said, because I cannot possible keep up with all of these pages.

They were talking about J&K on the radio this morning on my way to work. The discussion was whether or not a lot of this drama is for ratings because rumor has it there is a movie in the works and if there is high interest because of scandal, it will become more likely. I thought that was interesting.

All drama aside, the kids were adorable last night. It was cute to see them with their preschool friends. I swear Alexis could have her own show. She's adorable. It is also nice to see Mady as we saw her last night. Last season you would have never seen her care about Collin losing his balloon. Something has changed for her for the better. I bet it's the dogs. :)

I did wonder why they chose to have the party at that park though. J&K have that huge amount of land. Why not have the party at the house?

As far as Jon and Kate, while I don't think she is the poor innocent one, she at least can verbalize her feelings. Jon reminded me of one of the early specials with Cara and Mady where one of the girls answered the question about which baby was their favorite and the other chimed in with the same answer. After Kate said her whole spiel about everything being for the kids, Jon repeated the same thing twice. Think for yourself man! :rotfl2:

A movie - really? MTV did that with The Real World - do you remember it?? NO - NO ONE DOES!!! It did horribly - no one is going to pay for a movie when its free on their TVs at home. Silly producers!

He did, didn't he. I think that is the interview where he talked about starting a corporation. Amazing what happens when you decide you want to be the one to decide if and when the press can have it at you. I still am not positive that he cheated on her in the worst way, but he should not have been in the car with another woman (who is prob making a lot of money now on that tape her and her last boyfriend made) in the middle of the night.

I would say the same thing about Kate, if it comes out that she was also cheating or out with a man in the middle of the night after being in a bar together.

Boy, this moves and changes so fast, I can hardly keep up. Soon we'll have to start yet another thread.

No kidding this thread moves fast! Also, during that Utah interview, the reporter asked Jon when the show will end. His response was to roll his eyes and then say soon.

I agree, I don't know if he actually cheated but being in a car at 2am with a 23 year old woman, sooooo not wise! I would have choice words with DH!

Thnks, you are the only person who would even reply to me on this one. I was starting to think everyone had me on their ignore list.

Sorry, I didn't respond to your post because I didn't know when it would be on again. :goodvibes Welcome to the thread.

So, If J and k DO split, does that mean kate will be a single mom to 8 kids? I think Kate should get 4 and jon should get 4 :)

Oh, such a bad idea...my sister and I were split up when my parents divorced and it was very very very difficult to deal with. Not only did our parents divorce but then we had to deal with losing each other. Bad idea.

I bet they split the kids up in the divorce - Kate will get custody of the little girls and Mady, Jon will get custody of the boys and Cara.

A movie - really? MTV did that with The Real World - do you remember it?? NO - NO ONE DOES!!! It did horribly - no one is going to pay for a movie when its free on their TVs at home. Silly producers!

I think they said it would be a made for TV movie, not a movie theater movie. I used to watch The Real World all the time, but I don't remember the movie.

I see these two as no different as celebrity actors/actresses etc.. The blame game is too much. Jon needs to seriously grow up. He looks like a man who has been out drinking and partying too much. The sports car is ridiculous. The whoa as me attitude is sickening. "Oh I quit my job" "I stay home while she travels" Sounds to me like a very jealous bitter man. She told him to go back to work or school to make himself happier. He is just not happy in his situation. That is not an excuse to cheat. As for Kate she's let the show go to her head WAY too much. Perhaps she has taken it too far and perhaps she is a little abrasive. However she is the one who is holding that family together. Yes the show is a job but she is sees that she will have to provide for the family alone and I do not fault her for that. A nurse's salary for 8 children alone isn't going to cut it..

:thumbsup2

If you also look at the earlier home videos just before they were married and when they got married Kate was a lot softer in how she spoke. Maybe she changed and became harder or even bossier because she HAD to. They had children and had responsibilities. Someone (hopefully both) had to grow up. It may very well be that in this case it was Kate who took to that responsibility easier than Jon did ( I am in no way saying Jon doesn't love his children). Imagine if both of them didn't grow up and accept that responsibility?

I really do believe that Jon does feel emasculated due to not going out and working outside of the house. I don't feel that it gives him licence to sulk and act like a child. Work something out that makes BOTH of you happy and DEAL with it.
Should Kate be blamed because she does like to work outside the house? There are many, many people that have to travel for their work and are hardly home but because we don't "know" them it is okay.(Think about that the next time you fly anywhere. Or will your pilots and flight attendants not be allowed to have families? Or what about truckers whom deliver your food to the stores? Or other business people?) Whereas we feel we know Kate and it is wrong that she should do it.(I don't feel that way. good grief do not all of you read books of some sort? How do you think we hear about them? Not everyone watches Oprah!) Would it be okay if it was Jon traveling and Kate home?

She is not gone for 20 days every month, every year. I am sure that she does get to stay home once in a while:rolleyes:
Either way Kate is darned if she does and darned if she doesn't.
We don't know if their marriage would have survived even if they hadn't done the show. People change.
Yes, this is sad for their children. But it is sad no matter when parents split up (unless there is abuse going on). But look at how many kids out there have lived through divorce and have turned out to be wonderful contributing members of society. If Jon and Kate are really over, then their focus needs to be on helping their children emotionally while still looking after them physically.

Flame suit on.

I wasn't sure if this has been posted yet or not, this thread is making me eyes hurt!:goodvibes

Critics Pan Season 5 Premiere of Jon & Kate Plus 8Us Magazine - 47 minutes ago

topics: KidsReality

Jon Gosselin and Kate Gosselin of TLC's "Jon & Kate Plus 8" and Buddy Valastro of TLC's "Cake Boss" attend Discovery Upfront at Jazz at Lincoln Center April 2, 2009 in New York City.
Amy Sussman/WireImage for Discovery CommunicationsUs Magazine Despite all the tears on the dramatic season five premiere of TLC's Jon & Kate Plus 8, critics weren't so sympathetic toward Jon and Kate Gosselin.

At one point in the show, Kate complained that her life was "just so hard" due to media attention and pressures on her marriage.

"Is it really, Kate?" sniped the Baltimore Sun's David Zurawik. "Tell that to a family in which the breadwinner has just lost her or his job, you silly, self-absorbed fool."

New Jersey's Star Ledger also calls out Kate for her hypocrisy over the paparazzi. In a voiceover on Monday's premiere, she says that she tells her kids to call the paparazzi "the P-people" because "I don't want them going to school being like, 'Well, the paparazzi is following us, like, that's so creepy.'"

Says the Star Ledger: "What's creepy is having your children followed around by a camera crew. Any camera crew. Period. It's exploitation, whatever cutesy name you want to give it."

Ken Tucker of Entertainment Weekly notes that Kate made it a point to say she was "alone" about six times on Monday's premiere. (At one point on the show, she complained that "Jon decided he needed a weekend off," so she had to organize the 5-year-old sextuplets' birthday party by herself.)

Says EW: "You just wanted to say, 'We get it! You feel you're the Wronged Woman! Aren't you savvy enough by now to know you're not winning us over?' This was especially true when she noted that 'all of a sudden, your kids are calling you your babysitter's name.' I could almost hear millions of viewers shouting, 'So stay home!'"

Sarah Kickler Kelber of The Baltimore Sun also takes aim at Jon -- who clearly did not want to be on the show -- for not opening up about his marital problems. On the show, he denies cheating on his wife but vaguely apologizes for his "actions."

"It would be so much clearer if they would just say their version of what happened," Kelber writes. "This is just more complicated than it needs to be. It's not like they aren't used to sharing the details of their lives, you know? We saw Jon's hair-transplant surgery as it happened, and Kate recovering from her tummy tuck, and the kids going through potty training. Most of that was probably too much information, but now we aren't quite getting enough."

What was most evident after Monday's premiere is that the tone on the TLC show has changed. The Philadelphia Enquirer even goes as far as to declare that the show is "adding up to disaster."

Zurawik of The Sun echoes that sentiment.

"For all the nasty and stupid reality shows I have seen over the years, I have to say this one did leave me feeling like I was looking in on something that I shouldn't be watching," he writes.

"What I saw was two people in over their heads, with one of them trying in her incredible arrogance to act like she knew what she was doing -- and an off-camera voice playing the melodrama of these lives for all it was worth," says Zurawik. "The kids mostly got lost in all of that."

Says EW's Tucker, "It's going to be interesting to see how the series settles back into its weekly half-hours of family outings and squabbles -- to see if that's even possible."

Nothing.

I also don't think there is anything wrong with having friends of the opposite sex. My husband and I have a very close female friend and if he went out drinking with her I would think nothing of it. If someone saw them out late at night I'm sure they would get the wrong idea but I know the truth so who cares. I've also gone out with her without my husband so the neighbors could be talking about me too. :upsidedow

Our best friends live a couple of hours away. Whenever I see them I give them hugs and tell them that I love them and that inculdes my friends' hubby. We all know what we mean, but others might not, do we care? :rotfl2:

I have a hard time believing Deanna is friends with Kate! :lmao: That's the difference...whatever is going on between Jon & Deanna, it's not something a married man of 8 should be doing unless Kate really was friends with her too.

Anyone else still wondering about the rumored contract Jon told Kevin & Jodi about??

Why did they put Joel's training wheels back on? He clearly can ride his bike without them, we saw him do it...but yet, the training wheels are back on. And it's been quite a while since they were taken off on that one episode - at least 8 months I'd say.

Kate's arm is up, like she is holding onto someone.
Maybe Collin or Aiden is sitting in front of her and it is their bike.

I highly doubt that too(kate and deanna being friends). I was just saying that my hubby and I could go out seperatly with our friends spouses and not give a hoot, but it is entirely different if it was with someone we are both not friends with:scared1:

I would guess it's one of the other kid's bike.

I bet they split the kids up in the divorce - Kate will get custody of the little girls and Mady, Jon will get custody of the boys and Cara.

That would be even worse for the kids than the actual divorce.

I'm sure if there's a divorce Jon will have the children most of the time and Kate will have the children when she feels like it.
