Jon and Kate Plus 8, Official Thread-Part 3

Did anyone else think that it was odd that Kate was worried about ruining her make up, when she started crying during the interview :confused3 :confused3 :confused3 :confused3 :confused3

I thought it was a little weird that she was talking about such a serious topic and was worried about her make-up, but then again she knew she had a lot of interview left and didn't want to look like a clown with make-up all over her face.

Omg...I don't feel well, so I took a short nap and camp back to 10 pages.....I'm a stay at home mom with internet connected all the time and I can't keep up with how freaking fast this thread is going...

SLOW DOWN!! ;)

I watched the show about an hour ago and I think Jon is a loser. He got married too young and now he wants to play....I've known a few men just like him.

I think it's sad and I feel bad for those kids..

Why do people continue to see this as an "all or nothing" situation when it comes to the financial aspects of the Gosselin's lives?

There is plenty of money to be made without the show.. Does anyone really not see that?

Kate supposedly has a third book - in the making or coming out soon.. They have DVD's of their show (from day one) - that are being sold every single day - along with all sorts of other "Jon & Kate Plus 8" gadgets, gizmos, tee shirts, etc... Kate could still do her speaking engagements - although hopefully on a more limited basis.. Jon "could" try to get a job that would work around Kate's schedule - assuming she would allow that..

They have already made plenty of money on the show - as well as all of the above (which will continue to be a source of income for years to come)..

The show isn't "needed" - it's wanted - plain and simple.. The thought that they would end up in to poor house - scrimping pennies together to get by on an RN's salary - is among the most ridiculous notions I have seen alluded to here yet.. If this situation wasn't so pathetic, it would be laughable..:sad2:

This is my main thing about Jon: All of a sudden he's complaining about his privacy, etc. but he wasn't complaining while receiving all their freebie trips. He seemed to be fine in the pics with the OCC.

And they may have wanted to stop so they can fix it. I'm sure that gets annoying.

I agree with 3prettyprincesses and OhMari and whomever else suggested we all keep playing nicely. No one is contributing to "helping" the situation by writing mean and hateful things. Just think if you googled your parents, would you want to see those things written about them? I know I'm not always the nicest person on the block but I try to be as nice as possible when thinking that 8 little kids are going to possibly be reading this some day. :goodvibes

I felt like she was looking at someone in front of her who she was apologizing to. Like she didn't want to mess it up the take.

I felt bad for all of them.

There was time where DH was chitchating with a lady on a game site. I caught him the night he did it and though it was not cheating we all (including our kids) felt like it was. There was a time where things were up in the air and like Mady and Cara the boys felt like they had to grow up. It was a hard time where everyone was confused and our future was uncertain.

I really hope things work out for them. Some sort of compromise has to be made with Jon and Kate. Things can't ever go back to the way it was and they need to figure out something for those sweet kids.

Yep...DH and I were just talking about this. He likes the perks, but not the public anymore since he got caught!

Skipping a whole lot of posts....

What is the problem with John getting a two-seater sports car? Are parents not supposed to have sports cars? I could see the problem if the kids were starving and/or the parents had no way to transport all of them but that's not the case here. So tell me again what is wrong with John having a sports car?

I was going to comment on this, but there is no way to coment, without it quickly becoming about religion, which we are no longer allowed to discuss. I think it's unfair to have this quote IMO, and have to sit my fingers so I don't get points LOL. It is interesting, but there is no way I can say anything about what it says.

same here..... I have a pretty (maybe even very?) strong opinion about what the article says, as well. LOL. And I really struggled about whether or not to even post it... but it was different than the usual commentary about Jon and Kate, so I thought I might throw it out there.

I'm still not sure I should leave it up... it may be too tempting to others to comment on, though.

I understand what you are saying, C. Ann but I don't completely agree. Yes, they have made some money but so have alot of other people including their publicists and TLC. It's not the family gets every dollar from the books and the royalties of the dvds.

If the family stops making the show, they aren't remembered. If they stopped with the show next month, a year from now Kate's book wouldn't be a dent on the best seller list. If this kept up, then they could be back with nothing.

They have a mortgage and bills and 8 children to provide for including health insurance and birthdays and Christmas presents. It's been well documented that the most wealthy can be filing for bankruptcy in the blink of an eye. I just don't think it's as black and white as we all like to think.

BTW, hi ya'll. I lurk here alot. I've watched the show since the specials were aired. I love watching shows about alot of children as I came from a single kid home and can't imagine the chaos.

I didn't think the make-up thing was weird, I wouldn't have wanted my mascara running down my face either.

I did think it was weird how Kate commented after they showed her at the book signing how she NOW appreciates their fans. She said something like she didn't before, but now understands better and thanked fans for their support. Really? This just occured to her now? That seemed coached to me. Like someone said "Hey Kate, you need to show some appreciation to the fans, who in the heck do you think is buying your books and watching the show?"

Nothing.

I also don't think there is anything wrong with having friends of the opposite sex. My husband and I have a very close female friend and if he went out drinking with her I would think nothing of it. If someone saw them out late at night I'm sure they would get the wrong idea but I know the truth so who cares. I've also gone out with her without my husband so the neighbors could be talking about me too. :upsidedow

I'm guessing the sports car isn't the problem. It seems like the car is part of an overall pattern of behavior.

Do you really count going to museums, painting pottery, basketball games and amusement parks work?

I think the two day long photoshoots are... we all saw how much "fun" the kids were having for their Good Housekeeping photoshoot. And how many other magazines have they been featured in... not to mention filming all the staged TLC promos, and print ads, merchandise photos, etc. It isn't all fun and games, and trips to Maui.

Not to mention those fun outings seem more like work when you read about the kids having to sit in their carseats for an extra 15 minutes upon arrival so that the cameras can get situated to get a shot of them exiting the car, and I would guess thats just the beginning of it.

I agree. They have many avenues for income now (thanks to the show) that I'm sure they could make it work if they stopped filming.

I just don't get why we're all supposed to feel bad that they might have to stop doing the show because then they'll be financially strapped. That's a really good point C.Ann, the show isn't needed, it's wanted. :thumbsup2

Kate also has a deal with HealthTex and Walmart. I don't see the cash flow stopping any time soon. Of course, when the show is cancelled, they might have to move out of their current house because of the upkeep cost, taxes, etc.
