An Update on the Updates by TCD!!!

Oh, French. Good. Now, the next time I am in France, I will be able to order my beer in an aluminum bottle. I still say, is it necessary to have three languages on the recycling bins. Do a lot of Frenchmen drive their RV's over to the Fort from France? I know that the folks from Quebec speak the French, but I am sure that they all do alright with the English, too.

About two years ago, we had three rigs next to us/across from us that were from Quebec City. Since I was working in Montreal during the weeks I struck up a conversation. Well, not really much of one as they spoke very little english and my french stunk.

All that aside, I agree with TCD that they could just look at the bin and figure out what goes where:confused3

Hey- I see from your avatar that you made it on DCL. Well? How was it?

Guess who came along on this trip?

The TCD DK9, that's who. She last made an appearance at Spring Break. She had such a good time, we had to bring her again. Well, since the 500 loop is a pet loop, why not?

Here she is on the golf cart. Heaven for a dog!

At the Dog Park:

The TCD dog enjoys saying hello to all the people as much as she does the dogs:

The TCD DD's always enjoy a game of tetherball while at the dog park:

This is the shaded area of the dog park. Even though there are picnic tables here (and these actually appear to be new ones), no food is allowed in the dog park:

On Saturday afternoon, maybe around 5 or 5:30, we were kicking back at the site, when Mrs. TCD says that she saw what looked like someone walking two Great Danes through the trees to the dog park. The TCD Dog hopped on the cart, and we went over to check it out.

Sure enough, these two brutes were at the Dog park:

The TCD dog is in those photos somewhere. No one would stand still for a photo, and DD took these with her phone camera.

I have this vague recollection that someone on these boards knows the people with the two Great Danes. One of the dogs was named Molly. They were staying on the 700 loop. I wish I had gotten a photo of the owner picking up a gift left by one of his dogs. He couldn't use one of the bags they provide there at the park-he had to use a big shopping bag! :rotfl2:

THANKS for the dog park pics! We're excited to use it for the first time this year with our 2 border collies and have been scavenging for any/all info we can find on it.

DK9 looks happy as a clam on the golf cart - I know one of our dogs will love it as well... the other will probably want to be safely under the table in the camper. (He's a bit nervous out in the big, wide world)

The Great Danes are gorgeous and clearly having a P-A-R-T-Y at the dog park. Their owners must love finally having a place at the Fort to let them run off some steam. :cool1:

So, the TCD family went in for MNSSHP on Sunday evening. Here we are in our costumes. I am in the front left with the lampshade on my head and the tube socks:

OK, JK- but I wanted to post these photos.

What are these kids supposed to be?

I like to feel that I keep up with popular culture, but I have no idea what this was all about. Neither did the TCD DD's. Anybody know?

We had the most awesome time. I am so bitten by the cruising bug. Thanks for your great trip report from your cruise - it helped us in our planning greatly. I am doing my best to plan a return trip but we want to take all the kids and it is proving difficult to find a time when all of us can go and afford the astronomical prices.:scared1:

Sometimes, I seriously consider moving back to FL for the resident discounts;)

I think they are from Kingdom Hearts. Its a video game ala Disney Characters. I see a Sora in their midst.

Ah hah! Definitely not my thing. Thanks for solving that little mystery.

For those of you interested, there is a pretty good assortment of Halloween merchandise for sale in the trading posts.

I posted this photo from the 1900 loop earlier:

FWPHOTOS012.jpg

See those Mickey head light stakes? There in the back row?

Those are new this year, and are for sale in the trading posts:

FWPHOTOS031.jpg

I think they go for $65.00- a little too rich for my blood for light stakes that will only get used briefly once a year.

We have already seen the first and third place winners for the TCD site decoration awards.

The winner (so far) is in the 700 loop, the third place recipient is in the 1900 loop. So where is the second place winner?

In the 300 loop, in site 303.

I am not sure if these people are in this site year round, but they have been there every time I have visited the Fort in 2008 (maybe they were away for the summer). They have been mentioned on these boards before. They are the ones with their own bronze site marker, complete with site number.

Anyway, they were working on their decorations last weekend:

FWPHOTOS040.jpg

This was enough to win them second place last weekend, and I don't think they are done decorating yet. I will check on them again on Halloween weekend, and give you an update.

When I see what has been done on the 500 loop, and what is being done on the 800 loop, it makes me wonder what converting some of the other loops to premium sites is going to look like.

The 600 loop is supposed to become a premium loop, right?

Well, the sand pads on some of those sites are only a few feet away from the sidewalk behind them.

Look at this site:

FW10308223-1.jpg

FW10308224-1.jpg

So, if this gets made into a premium site, is the edge of the concrete pad no going to be a few feet from the sidewalk. Is someone going to be happy paying a premium to stay in such a site?

When we where there last November we had been there a few days and a new couple backs in next to us.(or should I say trys to back in) All I can say there where some loud French words a flying :scared1: At first I was confused I had no idea what they where speaking. But then we figured out it was French (with a little extra French) That couple was very high strung not your normal FW camper. But I agree 1 language should be enough.

P.S. great report keep it coming:thumbsup2

You don't see as many armadillo around the Fort these days.

I think the poor critters don't have any place to hide, with all the clearing and such.

I have never seen one out in the day time.

But, last weekend, the DD's were out on the cart, and saw this fellow running around:

FWPHOTOS039.jpg

FWPHOTOS038.jpg

They tried to catch him for supper, but were not able to. :(

I hope the littler fellow gets out of the Fort before FW Guy shows up. If not, it's possum on half shell on the buffet back in the 1800 loop.

TCD

How about a few more photo's of decorations.

I liked this little display. I know the Gnome Mickey was on sale during the Flower and Garden Festival at Epcot. What about the other figures? Anybody ever seen these before?:

FWPHOTOS044.jpg

These folks had a Mickey lamp post, too:

FWPHOTOS045.jpg

And, this isn't really a decoration photo, but this camper is my hero. They have a great big stainless steel grill mounted on the back of their fifth wheel:

FWPHOTOS046.jpg

And, look how tall that trailer is in the back. Looks like there might be some kind of loft in there. Pretty sweet.

TCD

My 18yr olds a KH fiend...she said the "lampshade" is a bad attempt at a group of characters known as NOBODIES....they arent main characters.

With that getup....I am pretty sure ya HAVE to be a nobody!!!

Thanks for the expert input. I guess it is bad that a Disney fan like me knows absolutely nothing about this Kingdom Hearts thing.

Even though those costumes were a bit rough, I give that group credit for putting the costumes together and wearing them into the Magic Kingdom. It looked like they were having fun with each other. To each his own, right?

And, I have worn a lampshade on my head back in the day, so who am I to judge these youngsters?

TCD

More photo's:

These folks were set up on the last site on the right as you exit the 700 loop. Samantha Brown visited them on last year's Christmas special, and they gave her a ride on their golf cart. I consider them Fort royalty!:

FWPHOTOS060.jpg

Here is a rig on the 200 loop. They had the same ghost playing the organ/ghosts dancing inflatable that I saw on the 500 loop. They had this decoration on sale for $99 at my local Sam's Club this weekend. That is a pretty good deal, I would say:

FW10308117.jpg

So, this report is getting pretty long.

Maybe I should post my favorite photo from this trip?

Can you believe that I haven't posted it yet?

I believe that's an observation platform for when you go to the races. My g/f dad has a custom built one on his Class A. They're really nice for the races and when you want an up high view.

With your history of problems with gravity you should avoid anything that high Donnie.
