PMS in a Handbasket--Don't be afraid, just bring us food... Part 23

Teva, your cruise is coming up!!:yay: We have only sailed Disney and Princess, and Disney was so much better. I wish we could go on another one.

I feel like poo. I took one of those Alli pills yesterday morning (just ONE) and I still feel like I am going to be sick. I just wanted a little nudge in the right direction as it's harder and harder to follow my points (and I was so bad this week) and I really want to lose quite a bit more weight.:crazy2:

I feel like doody too, Bomb.

Now that Christmas is over, everyone is getting so excited about the cruise. :yay: I can't wait to have all three of my kids and the grandkids together. Even though we all live within a couple mile range of each other it's rare to get everyone together at one time. Especially my oldest son and his wife.

I'd love to go to Bermuda!

So which is nicer, Bermuda or Bahamas?

Just a word about Bermuda cruises. This is the last year for them, so if you want to do it, DO IT! They are closing their ports once again to the cruise ships. They feel their tourism is down because of it.

I would do Bermuda before Bahamas. The Bahamas residents are fairly agressive.

4's, it wasn't so much that it was a 'party boat'. I think, for me, the problem is that I've only done Disney Cruises in the past and Carnival (at least the one we were on) was about as far from Disney as you can get. No problem with the ship but the crew was pretty bad. Rude and unfriendly.

I know this makes me sound snobbish but I'm really not. I don't have to stay at the best, I really enjoyed staying at Pop and plan on going back there again, so it's not like I'm a :snooty: .

There were just some things that we saw that we didn't like on Carnival and it was all crew related.

The crew can be rud and unfriendly on any line, even Disney. Just like you find them at Disney World. I have been on three Carnival cruises and didn't find it to be anymore party than RCCL. If you want seriously no party, then go with a boring line like Princess or Celebrity or Holland America. Not to say boring, but just laid back, mostly older people. You won't find the same amount of kids on those lines.

Carnival is a great line though, lots of fun, the best food and entertainment on your regular lines.

I have only done one cruise and that was RCL, loved it. I know Rick was impressed with NCL.

NCL, we aren't even allowed to book them, they are SO bad! I have no personal experience with them though and would try them, same as I would try any of the resorts or restaurants at Disney that get bad reviews. But NCL ranks on the very bottom as far as cruiselines go.

Wow MnM, its awesome to have someone in the travel industry here!! So Bermuda is now or never huh!

I'm glad you had good experiences on Carnival. Unfortunately our experience was so bad that I don't think I would ever do another Carnival again.

My dad always told me one was better than the other but I couldn't remember which. He used to tell me that one was more geared to people just taking a cruise to somewhere to pary and the other was for a vaction. Does that make sense?

Thats too bad about them stopping the cruises there. I'll check into Bermuda. I still love that vision of renewing my vows barefoot on a tropical-like beach. Could I do that there?

I went back to sleep in, now I am back, on the phone with WDW dining, to get my dinner ressies booked for June. I think I have it all right :rotfl:

So anyone want to know what I spent most of all day yesterday doing?????????????

RESEARCHING CRUISE LINES!!! Comparing Carnival, NCL, RCL, Disney etc... I was on Cruise Critic and the others almost all day!

Apparently I should have just come here!

Okay, so other than Disney, what is family friendly, non partying, non old farts, fun but affordable??? Destinations are secondary because I want to go just about everywhere and really just want the cruise ship experience. And we don't drink and don't gamble so that doesn't matter to us. We are not really gourmet eaters so unless the food is like dog food we will probably be happy with most things, but I don't like rude service!

I read things for hours yesterday and never came up with an answer. But the Carnival Victory and RCI Grandeur of the Seas go out of Norfolk so if either of them are acceptable then they would be the best!

Scrap, you will get so many different opinions, you should probably just pick the one that sounds the best for you nad go for it. :thumbsup2

Sounds pretty much what we are looking for except the food has to be good. We love good food!
When are you looking to go? How many days? I'm leaning towards Carnival only because it seems to be the most affordable.

I have no dates in mind right now. I am more just dreaming and gathering info! DH doesn't want to go. He thinks it is a waste of money. My mom and sister love to cruise and keep talking about us all going together. They like RCI. I actually think I would just go with the girls without him if it came to that.

I agree that Carnival looks the most affordable. I would probably look to 2009 so I could book early and get better rates. I am trying to figure out what kid/tween/teen activities they have.

We have vacation planned for 2008. I have been keeping it under my hat. . . Look for a ticker soon! :rolleyes1

ok, I have my final list (except for CS's they are a wing it deal)

sat -- Boma
sun -- LTT
mon -- Jiko
tues -- chefs de france
wed -- 50s prime time
thurs -- tutto italia
fri -- kona cafe
sat -- tusker house (br) / spoodles(dinner)
sun -- Tangerine cafe

somewhere in all of that, I will also be going to captain cook's for the Tonga Toast and beaches and cream
