WDW cancelled our castle dinner?

^This^ sounds about right. Hopefully @J. Thaddeus Toad Esq. reads this before Disney calls back.

It's obvious OP did his due diligence when booking BBB and CRT. This was supposed to be a special evening for his DD. Disney has got to go above and beyond to make this right.
Yes, Disney needs to make this right. I would say that I am surprised but this seems to be the direction Disney is taking these days. Squeezing every red cent out of their guests while reducing the quality of service. This is just unacceptable.

Here is the update...

I received a call from the proprietor of CRT this morning. He worked with me to move our BBB and CRT dinner reservations to 1/30. He was very helpful and seemed to be sincerely sorry for the incident.

I explained that I had learned why we were bumped and understood the reasoning. He said that 30 parties were inconvenienced. I asked him to whom I could express my comments / concerns about these actions and he referred me to Guest Services. I will be writing them a letter shortly.

In the end, I feel that I was provided an acceptable replacement for what I had lost. I am disappointed that this was allowed to happen and will express my disappointment. I really don't expect to receive anything more.

I want WDW to know that as a guest, a stockholder and big Disney fan, that I am disappointed in the way that this was initially handled, when I had done everything to ensure my family had a great experience.

Thanks for sharing information and your comments.

I encourage you to express your disappointment to them. They have to know how people feel about stuff, and they do care if you find the right person (not often a first line CM sorry to say... they may care but not have the power to do anything about it).

My experience with guest communications email was stellar when I emailed about a sub par experience at Narcoossees. Really I just wanted to vent and wanted them to know about it and insisted I did not want anything, but they insisted right back that they wanted to make it right, including replacing the magic band that my son lost on space mountain our last day (it came up in passing when I told him that really the rest of our trip was truly magical, the only bad thing that happened was him losing his band on our last day and the CM insisted on replacing it for him). I think honestly you'll just feel a whole lot better for communicating your feelings on it but in my experience, Disney goes well above and beyond to turn any bad feelings into feelings of joy. Let them do that!

I am happy to hear this was resolved to your satisfaction. Very glad you pushed back on their first offer.

Now enjoy your much deserved vacation!

Jason,

I'm so sorry that you had that experience before your trip, but I'm really glad that you stopped back by to share this update. We actually featured your thread on the DIS Daily Fix today because of how alarming we thought this situation was. Wishing you and your family a most magical vacation!! :goodvibes

I'm glad they were able to make things right. I encourage you to write that letter. However, I would wait until after your trip. I would worry that they would get the letter and then accidentally cancel the new reservation or something. Just wait until at least that part of the trip is complete.

So happy it worked out for you and your family!

Hope you have a magical trip!

Same story we had in 2000. We had reservations to see new Illumination's year 2000 fireworks show at EPCOT at the Rose and Crown, canceled.
Then we made reservations at Mexico....Canceled. Finally we made reservations for a 'fireworks' cruise on the Breathless. (the wooden boat) Canceled...and then a Pontoon Boat....canceled. Each time they took the reservation and canceled them at a latter date.
They should have just said "nope no reservations". It was the big event they as the new premier of the new show.
What they didn't say was that it was invitation only, press only event. They did make it right for us tho and had a Guest Services person walk us over there to see the show...after my "sternly worded letter"

This wasn't the first time Disney pulled this stuff with us. Remember the big Anniversary Event...with the big parade, 76 trombones etc, on main street. They advertised the heck out of that..and we went. Stayed at the contemporary, the night before got a note shoved under the door. Saying the Magic Kingdom would be closed for a private event----the parade and press party and to watch the event on resort TV channel.

The thing is that if Disney expects us to make plans 180 days out....they should do the same.

Glad that you got it resolved and that you got proper compensation. Hope that the other guests that were inconvenienced also get proper compensation. I could see if there was an operational issue (fire flood etc) cancelling the reservation; but not because of a new special event.

Wow....just wow. The part I bolded about the Anniversary Event, I hope to heck they comped you the room or something. With all the new upcharge events they are coming up with, i don't even like to think about where this is all heading.

I didn't complain for that one. We had a good view from the room of the jets (blue angels) but not the parade they kept hawking. I did complain about the Illumination cruise, as I had family members and friends flying in for that one. But they made that one right...but very late...too late for our family to join us.
The Guest Services lady that escorted us to see that event said my letter was brought up in a Guest Services meeting. And that they
would be changing some things---specifically blocking out reservations when they had press events or special events- And we got a nice upgrade at the Yacht Club...and a steakhouse dinner. So I was very happy for that one.
