I'm very happy for you and your family.
Ive only been on the DVC member cruise, so I dont have alot of experience here, but I love to read everyones ideas.
PS
Im going on a 7 day in FEB. My DH loves rock shrimp. Where was that pic taken of you eating shrimp? And do you remember if it is in season in Feb?

The pic of me eating "Rock Shrimp" was taken at Dixie Crossroads in Titusville, Florida and is only a 20-30 minute drive from the Port Canaveral area. You can visit their website at www.dixiecrossroads.com

We have been to Dixie Crossroads in February and have gotten "Rock Shrimp" then as well.

We will be going to Dixie Crossroads after our cruise later this month, "I Gotta Have My Rock Shrimp!!!"

Boy Andy you make those rock shrimp sound great. We may have to make a side trip over there in January. Hope you have a great trip and don't spit off your verandah- you never know who is below you. :p

Are rock shrimp actually shrimp or are they just smaller lobsters? You can tell I didn't pay attention in biology class.

They are shrimp, first discovered off the east coast of Florida.

Andy- Is there any other place that has these on the menu? Or is the Dixie place the only place you've had them? You make them look good in the picture on your website.

I've only eaten them at Dixie Crossroads myself, we have been going there since shortly after they opened in 1983. I have cousins that live in Merritt Island, FL. and they took us to Dixie Crossroads on one of our trips to Florida, we've been "HOOKED" ever since. As far as being served anywhere else, that I do not know, but I'm sure someone out there would know, maybe some Floridians can help us out!!!

Andy- By the way, I think the shirt designs that you have posted are very good. Are they T-shirt transfers that you just iron on to a shirt? Is there a special computer program you need to get the different images from? Thanks

Yes, these are t-shirt transfers. I found most of the photos you see on the transfers from different internet sites, then just added the wording myself. The three different designs you see on the one page in my signature, are the transfers I used to make three different t-shirts for our upcoming cruise.

We used to get rock shrimp at a little place called St Marys seafood in St Marys GA. Its about 5 miles from the FL borfer.
I just couldnt remember when they were in season.

Andy, if at all possible, you should go to Dixie Crossroads before your cruise. After only 3 days on board, we were so full, we felt like our sinuses were packed with food. On CC day, we ate lunch at Cookies BBQ at 11:30, and then ate nothing until dinner in Tritons at 8:30, and we couldn't even eat our entrees because we were still full from lunch!

Of course, there's always the option of pacing yourself and eating in moderation, I suppose....

I'll be doing O.K. until they bring out the desserts, then look out. I have a major sweet tooth!!!

We won't have time to go to Dixie Crossroads before the cruise. We get in Friday evening at MCO (6pm) and have a DISmeet planned around the Radisson pool (8pm).

Oh my goodness, Andy! Congratulations!!!!! It makes you wonder if any DCL people are on this board or at least lurking to know your whole story behind your Verandah Man name. ;-)

I am genuinely happy for you and your family!! Again, Congrats!!!

Thanks Angie,

My Dmom and Dniece were over the other night, I was helping them fill out their docs, to see the excitement on their faces about receiving a cabin with a verandah was PRICELESS!!!

I know I am a little late in the game - but I just wanted to let you know Andy that it couldn't have happened to a nicer person!!!

I am very happy for you and I am sure you will enjoy every minute of it!!!

Have fun!!

Karen

I have cruised on these other lines before, and on sea days there is the bars, casino and bingo. The shows are all Las Vegas types without Wayne Newton and Tom Jones. I will say that the food on RCCL was better than DCL. Very gourmet. Don't get me wrong, the food was great on DCL, but RCCL was better.

That said, I would not bring my kids on any of those cruise lines. The teens were out of control half the time, there were no adult only pools or areas. (except for the bars and casinos).

I am not new to cruising, and IMHO, nothing touches DCL. But it is a matter of taste. There were no drinking contests on the Wonder and there were on RCCL. The parties on deck always seemed to be filled with drunks. I am biased. I don't drink alcohol.

On the Wonder, I did not see one out of control drunk.

Another thing, on port days, the pools were closed. So were many onboard activities. No thanks..too boring. I am looking forward to my day-at-sea Wonder cruise. I want to start a family tradition of a yearly cruise.

That's what I'm thinking Jeanny, doesn't seem to fit in here does it?
