We love SSR! We stayed there in Jan and it was beautiful! As owners there we love to try other resorts, but when we come back to SSR we breath a sigh of relief. It is so beautiful and relaxing .
Funny.......for years I said I didn't like SSR without ever staying there or even visiting there. I would just look over at it from Downtown Disney and say nope, not for me. Fast forward to 2014 and we purchased DVC resale. I bought into SSR because it was the cheapest for a buy-in but really wasn't ever planning on staying there unless we "had" to. We had already had a vacation planned and paid for when our points loaded about 3 weeks before going. We decided to add days onto our vacation and the only DVC we could book on that short of a notice was SSR. I just "knew" I wasn't going to like it but was excited about adding more days onto our vacation.
Well, guess who was wrong.....REALLY REALLY WRONG.... You got it, ME! I LOVED LOVED LOVED it there. That year we went two more times as we had purchased an annual pass with the DVC discount (so three trips on one annual pass yeah me) both times I booked at SSR. The second time we stayed for two weeks and our third visit we did a split stay at SSR and Beach Club. We are going back this Aug/Sept and are booking a two bedroom for the first time. We had in the past booked two studios.
I have a question for the experts here. First, we've always lucked out and stayed at the Springs in the past. If that is not an option this time, what would be your next choice that would be close to the Springs? Would you say Paddock? We did walk over the bridge from the Springs to the Paddock, which was a short walk and my two grandkids loved that pool as well. I'm just unsure where to request, which I know is only a request, if we can't get the Springs again.
My second question would be what is the big difference between a regular 2 bedroom and a 2 bedroom lock-off. Do you have a preference? It looks to me that the only way to get the second bedroom with two queen beds vs 1 queen and a pull out sofa bed is a regular 2 bdr vs a lock off. Is that correct? And online at the DVC site it says it sleeps 9. I can only figure that it sleeps 8, 2 in the king bed....4 between the two queen bed and 2 more on the pull out sofa bed in the main living area, am I missing something?
Thanks for letting me ramble. Add me to the list of SSR lovers. It was a very unexpected surprise.

Most 2BR now have a pull our chair that is a twin bed in the main living area.
There are some youtube videos if you search Saratoga Springs. We have requested the GrandStand section for our next visit. Are there any pictures of a two bedroom. Do the rooms have balconies? I've been looking for pictures, but I can't find them.
